Chapter 4: Immediate Retribution

Bryce immediately picked up the call without waiting any longer. The voice heard from the unknown call was the sweet voice of a woman.

"Hello, am I talking to Mr Bryce Milano?"

Bryce was now curious. Many questions crossed his head. He didn't feel like he recognised the woman's voice, but strangely, she even knew Bryce's full name.

"Yes, I am Bryce. But is it okay to know who I'm talking to now?"

Bryce was seen turning around and stepping away while talking on the phone. It made Levi and Lexy curious as to who the man was calling.

"I'm Tamara. I know you have a lot of questions right now, but trust me, I can answer anything that crosses your mind right now. Meet and come to me, then you will know everything. But before that, I also need your help. Think of it as an equal exchange."

As Bryce heard the sentence from the woman, he became even curious.

"Well, you can assume that I agree to your offer. But what can I do? At least tell me what things you want from me," Bryce responded to feel more confident that he was not being pranked.

"You guys are still here, apparently," Bryce sneered when he caught the two.

"You are an insolent son-in-law. How dare you ignore us and talk to another woman instead," said an annoyed Lexy.

"Yes, what a rubbish man! His attitude is so poor. I bet that woman on the call must be his mistress. Perhaps that woman is Bryce's new potential victim. Maybe this is why Veronica finally agreed to divorce a husband like him. If the media knew about this, it would be a scandal. Thank God we dodged the bullet," said Levi, who again scoffed and chastised Bryce.

"Don't say anything careless. But I must admit that you have a sharp ear for someone who is also trash. Besides, I don't even recognise the woman who called me now. If you're talking about loyalty, I don't think it's necessary to question me. Because I'm so loyal to Veronica and willing to sacrifice for her, the thing I heard about her is the man who will take my place as a husband. What is his name? Mr Jaxon?" "So I'm sorry, but if you're questioning loyalty, I think the person is..." Before Bryce could finish his sentence, Lexy threw her hand in the air and slapped Bryce with full force.

"Mum!" Bryce shouted in a raised tone.

"This is the last time you get that hand in my face. Next time you do that, I'll make sure that even if you're a woman, you'll get what's coming to you," the man continued in a cold tone.

As Bryce walked away from the two, Levi, who felt unacceptable for his attitude showed to the two, then immediately grabbed Bryce's hand from behind. Instantly, the necklace Bryce had been holding in his pocket was thrown and fell to the ground.

"Whoa, whoa, what's this?" said Levi with a facial expression that pretended to be surprised.

"You said you didn't take anything, but it looks like someone lied and stole the necklace secretly," the man continued to insult Bryce.

"Give it back quickly. I didn't steal that necklace. How can I steal something that belongs to me?" Bryce responded, trying to take the necklace from Levi's hand.

Now, both of them seemed to be struggling with each other in taking the necklace. Both Bryce and Levi both want to keep the necklace in their hands. As a result, they are now pulling the chain on the necklace.

Because such a small object could not match the power of the two adult men, the necklace broke and fell to the ground.

"Damn you. Can't you just let me go easily? I've been trying to be modest and follow your wishes, but I'm getting this instead," muttered Bryce, who felt his heart breaking as his most precious object was broken just like that.

Bryce then picked up his broken necklace. He felt very sad because the only reminder of his family was was also taken from his hands.

But something strange happened in a split second. Something seemed to have just passed quickly in Bryce's daydream. Instantly, the man's head hurt, and many things seemed to fill his mind slowly.

"A trashy guy like you finally fell, too. For some time, you were quite proud of yourself. I'm sick of seeing useless, weak men like you being so arrogant," Levi said with pleasure as he bullied Bryce.

The man then decided to leave. Lexy, who was proud of her son, also felt there was nothing more to discuss with Bryce. They walked away with smiles on their faces.

"Aww fuck! How dare you!" Levi shouted as two powerful punches landed on his face.

Whimpering in pain, Levi saw that Bryce's eyes seemed to change colour.
