Everyone gasped.

Chay’s words seemed to freeze the air itself.

The murderous finality in his voice was so overwhelming that an icy chill crept down every spine in the hall.

‘What does he mean he came to bury everyone inside?’

No one dared to breathe, talkless of laugh. Not one glass clinked.

The already silent hall fell into an almost supernatural stillness that even a graveyard would have envied the silence in that hall.

“…Did… did he just threaten everyone here?” one billionaire whispered.

“Has he gone insane?”

“Even if he doesn’t know us, he should know who he’s talking to, or doesn’t he?”

“I don’t want to behold the wrath of Serena Jones.”

Word has it that anyone who beheld the wrath of Serena Jones never returned the same way.

Several guests instinctively took a step backward. Others quietly glanced toward the exits.

Run?

The thought crossed nearly everyone’s mind.

Yet…

No one dared move.

The blood staining the marble staircase… the unconscious whip master… the broken host…

Every reminder told them this wasn’t an ordinary intruder. Once wrong move… might make them his next target.

Suddenly, Serena laughed. A calm, elegant laugh. “I see you’ve also learned confidence.”

Her heels clicked softly across the marble floor. “Right here, just ten years ago…” she paused and chuckled. “you cried out so loud like a baby.”

Chay's eyes narrowed.

“ I remember,” she continued, folding her arms as she walked slowly. “You begged. You begged me to save you.”

Confusion spread.

“What is she talking about?”

“Wait! Was he once a slave??”

A cocky smile played at the corner of Serena’s lips. “You looked at me with those pathetic eyes of yours.” Her voice carried effortlessly through the chamber as she imitated him almost perfectly.

“Please… Lady Serena…” she mocked. “Please don’t let them take me.

She tilted her head.

“I still remember every word.”

For the first time since entering the hall, something flickered inside Chay's eyes.

Not fear.

Hatred.

Pure hatred.

Ten years earlier, right where he stood, he was dragged in chains.

Bruised. Bleeding.

He had looked across the grand hall desperately looking for a savior. Among hundreds of strangers, only one face was familiar.

Serena Jones.

Not just his best friend’s mother or someone he once took as an aunt, but someone he believed would show mercy.

“Please…”

His voice had cracked.

“Please help me…”

“They must’ve made a mistake, aunty. I don’t even know how I got here. Please…”

“I'll repay you…”

“I'll do anything…”

His brain didn’t even have the time to wonder what Serena was doing at a place as wild as that, he just wanted to be out so he pleaded

Serena walked over and knelt before him.

Chay remembered hop returning to his heart in that moment.

Then…

She spat in his face.

“John Whitney personally approved your sale,” she smiled at his shocked and devastated expression.

“And I negotiated the price.”

Now, Serena looked exactly the same. Cold. Elegant. Merciless.

“I told you then…” she continued slowly in her steps. “No one was coming to save you. Unfortunately I must’ve been wrong. But this time, I won’t be wrong… again.”

The audience slowly relaxed.

Whispers began to spread like wildfire. “Wait…”

“Lady Serena handled his sale?”

“No wonder he hates her. I can feel the hatred.”

Another man chuckled, “Poor fool. He thinks surviving one night makes him untouchable.”

“He has no idea who he’s standing before,” a wealthy woman scoffed.

Someone near the front laughed loudly. “That’s Lady Serena Jones! One of Kent’s Ten War Saints! ”

Immediately, the room erupted with agreement.

The Ten War Saints.

These were ten warriors personally recognized by the topmost commander after defending Kent through almost a decade of wars, rebellions, and foreign invasions.

Each one of them commanded private military divisions.

Each possessed authority equal to high-ranking generals.

A single order from any War Saint could mobilize thousands of elite soldiers within minutes.

Their names alone kept neighboring nations cautious.

And their words? Their words rarely failed to become reality.

“Exactly!”

Another guest stood.

“If Lady Serena says you're leaving here dead…”

“...then you're already dead.”

Laughter returned. Confidence spread.

The fear from moments earlier faded rapidly.

“You should've escaped while you had the chance!”

“You're finished!”

“You've just signed your own death warrant!”

“Bow now and beg! Maybe Lady Serena will let you die quickly!”

Even Molly shrank closer to Chay.

Serena never once looked away from him. She was smiling. Talking. Mocking. Buying time.

Without anyone noticing, her fingers lightly brushed the jeweled ring on her index finger.

Click.

Far above, hidden inside the ceiling, ancient gears silently rotated. Massive chains began to shift and steel locks began to disengage.

But, not even the audience noticed.

No one did,

But Chay did.

Years on countless battlefields had sharpened something beyond ordinary instinct.

Veteran commanders called it the ‘Killing Perception’, the ability to sense danger before it revealed itself.

He heard it.

The faint scrape of iron…

Hidden beneath the laughter and mockery of the guests.

But he didn't move. He simply waited.

Serena continued smiling.

“I've always admired one thing about you, Chay. You never learn.”

“You walked back into the very cage you escaped.”

She took another step.

“You came here believing you were the hunter.”

Her smile widened.

“But you've always been the prey.”

Chay smirked. “You should worry about your—“

CLANG!!

The entire ceiling exploded with thunder as a monstrous iron cage crashed downward.

The impact shook the entire hall.

“Eiiiii” several guests screamed in fright, flying out of their seats inside the swirling dust.

In a heartbeat marbles cracked. Dust burst into the air. Wine glasses toppled from tables.

But the gigantic cage stood firmly embedded into the marble floor.

For a heartbeat, there was silence.

Then someone shouted, “They got him!”

Laughter exploded throughout the chamber. “I knew Lady Serena had everything under control!”

“What a fool!”

“He walked right into it.”

Molly’s face turned pale.

“No…”

She rushed to the bars that surrounded her and Chay, throwing both her hands against them.

“No! No! No!”

She pushed with everything she had. But the cage barely moved.

The bars were forged from black alloy thicker than a grown man’s wrist, each engraved with reinforcing runes and interlocked by massive riveted joints.

The gaps between the bars were barely wide enough for an arm to pass through, making escape by force or leverage nearly impossible.

Molly grabbed another section and pulled. The cage didn’t even tremble.

Tears began to stream down her face, “Chay!” she called, “C-Chay! We have to get out!”

She beat against the iron until her palms turned red.

“No… no… please…”

As the guests watched, they laughed even harder.

“Look at her! Just look at them, hahaha”

“They are trapped! I’m sure he didn’t see this coming.”

“Now, the real show can begin!”

Serena slowly approached the cage, her heels echoing across the marble before stopping a few feet away.

Looking directly into Chay’s eyes, her smile became almost sympathetic.

“You once promised…”

“…that you’d bury everyone in this hall.”

She let the silence linger.

Then asked softly,

“Now tell me, Chay Morgan…”

“…who exactly is buried?”

The following morning… Molly was awakened by the sound of engines. Not one. Not two. But several engines whirling from a short distance. She slowly opened her eyes and frowned. Another engine roared outside. Then another. Molly rubbed her tired eyes and sat up, her frown deepening. She then lazily got out of her bed and walked toward the window. The moment she pulled the curtains aside, her eyebrows shot up. There was a convoy of black luxury cards parked outside their house. “What the hell…?”There were enough cars outside to suggest that either a very important person had arrived… Or someone was planning a small invasion. “Do we have a visitor?” she muttered to herself. Quickly, she threw on a robe and left her room. By now, Chay was seated in the main living room for be ground floor when the front doors opened. His visitor was here. The driver gently brought the car to a stop in front of Chay’s mansion. It was a long drive but thankfully, they arrived at the estate before it got too dark. Molly had replayed everything from her date with Gal up until he was dragged away, in her mind over and over again. She couldn’t still believe he could betray her like that to her. She glanced at Chay with her sad eyes. Chay was still looking ahead, just like he had throughout the quiet ride back. He had not said anything to her and neither had she… not because she didn’t want to, but because she didn’t know what to say or how to say whatever she wanted to say. All she had done so far was attempt to speak and say nothing. She stared at him with teary eyes. Her heart raced in her chest because she was afraid to speak and didn’t know what to expect if she did. What if he snubs me? What if he screams at me? What if he grounds me? What if he doesn’t want to ever speak to me again? She wondered sadly as she stared at his
