CHAPTER 4
James Garrick stared at the paper that lay on the table in front of him. He could barely believe his eyes. His business partner and benefactor, Pablo Hernandez was dead and he had passed down his chain of companies to a close friend. James Garrick was not new to the business. He knew what it meant. Pablo’s lawyer, Jeremy had already sent him a mail informing him of a meeting with the new boss at midnight where all the necessary documents would be signed. He knew that once again, he would have to be smart in his negotiations and make sure he got the new boss to inject funds into his company, Garrick Modeling agency. He squeezed the paper and threw it in the dustbin.“Should have waited till after we released the winter collection before he died,” James grunted. “I was really looking forward to the success of that show.”“It can still be successful with the new owner,” Steve chipped in.James turned to face Steve and sighed. Steve was his only son, and at twenty five, the only thing he did with his life was speeding around the town in a Maybach and following the sexy model, Selena Goldbridge. James knew that he had to start involving his son in the family business more often so he could get a hang of it.“Have you thought about my proposal son?” James asked.Steve sat up immediately and stared at his father. “There’s nothing to think about there, father. I can’t imagine that you own one of the most successful modeling agencies in the whole of America and yet you want your own son to work as a Junior secretary.”“It’s a good start,” James shrugged. “With a good pay as well. You would be getting all the experience you need to run the company in the nearest future.”“Thank you but I’ll pass,” Steve frowned. “I’ll do better as the manager or something.”“The only thing you know about models is that they have a nice shape,” James frowned. “I can’t have you managing my company with your nonchalant attitude.”“Then allow me live my life the way I wish,” Steve said.James ignored him and walked over to the small fridge at the corner of his office. He opened it, took a bottle of wine and poured half a glass for himself.“I’m trying very hard to make something for you son,” James said. “We came from nothing.”“You have all the wealth in the world already dad,” Steve complained. “Why are you so concerned about me working my ass off when you’ve done it all already. Relax dad.”James sighed. “Wealth is hard to acquire but easy to lose,” he said. “You’re good at spending. At acquiring, I’m not so sure…”Someone knocked on the door interrupting their father to son conversation and Steve was only too happy that he had been interrupted. He knew his father very well. He could keep talking for hours!“Come on in,” James said. The door opened and Selena Goldbridge walked into the office. She saw Steve first and she smiled at him.“Hey, I didn’t know you’d be here,” she said before turning to face James. “Good morning sir.”“Good morning Miss Goldbridge,” James grunted. “Are you here for me or my son?”“Oh I’m here to discuss a few things with you,” she replied turning her attention from Steve and back to James.James frowned. Selena Goldbridge was beautiful. She was the face of Garrick Modeling agency and he knew it quite well. She was the reason their profit margin kept rising over the years but she was also the major problem in his family. She was distracting his son, Steve.James never approved of their relationship but he couldn’t do much about it because Steve had made his mind up. It was her or no one else.“What would you like to discuss with me?” James asked sitting down on his executive chair.Selena sat on the chair opposite him. “My salary raise.”James stared at her for a long time. She was out of her mind if she thought that she could walk into his office every week, demand a salary raise and get it. She had done it four times already in the last two months and James had honored her request only because he was scared of losing the services of such an experienced model. What she was doing now was outright theft. There was no way he was increasing her wages again.“Things don’t work like that Selena,” James said sitting up. “Money doesn’t grow on trees.”“You should consider her request,” Steve shrugged. “She’s your best model isn’t she?”James eyed his son and turned back to face her. “In case you were not aware, my benefactor, Pablo Hernandez died last night and he has passed the company to a friend. We don’t know who it is yet but I can’t imagine any man in his right senses would increase the capital he put into this company from the whooping twenty five billion dollars it is now…”“I am well aware of his death,” Selena nodded. “That’s the reason I’m here. I want to be at the meeting tonight.”“I see,” James grunted. “What for?”“I believe I would be able to convince the new owner to increase the capital by a fine margin,” Selena smiled.James stared at her. “What makes you think so?”Selena smiled. “Never underestimate the charm of a woman.”“And if you can successfully talk him into increasing the capital invested, I would increase your salary?” James asked.“I would have 40 percent of the invested capital plus my salary,” Selena corrected. “You can keep the rest.”James eyed the model sitting in front of him. She was young, beautiful, ambitious, and definitely too much for his son.“Deal,” James smiled. “I would love to see this charm of yours. Be ready by eleven. My driver would be waiting to pick you up.”“Sure thing,” Selena said and stood up.“I would follow you then,” Steve said. “This is what you wanted right dad? To learn how things worked in the business world.”“Of course my son.”James Garrick smiled. He knew his son was going because of the model but he didn’t care one bit. He was going to kill two birds with a stone in one night.

CHAPTER 194
It had been months since the awful incidents had happened, and Selena, Javier, and all the other offenders were still locked up because of the multitude of crimes they had committed against other people, like Taron and Rebecca, and somehow, some missing funds were traced to Rebecca's account, so she had problems with the entire country too. That, and her faking her death was a major offence because it was a popular tactic pulled by fraudsters, and so, Selena was to spend a long time locked up. Rebecca, on the other hand, was doing so much better. She was starting to move during the second week of her awaking, and Taron was so proud of the progress that she was making in her life, and how she was able to forge ahead. "I can't imagine that our lives were troubled by that nasty woman, how did you even manage to end up with her, you crazy man?" Rebecca teased him, and he rolled his eyes "I was a complete idiot, I don't even have anything to say to defend myself." Taron said, sha
CHAPTER 193
It was the main day for the attack. Selena and her killers were heading out to attack. The strategy she had made was full proof to her but she had no idea there was an inside man and her plans had been leaked. Anthony and Taron discussed on the news Radish gave the earlier. They have decided to let the cops know about the act and Selena should be at least arrested if not killed. “Hello! Joe Radish when is it starting?” Taron asked Joe over the phone. “Okay, thank you. I owe you, literally.” Taron joked as he cut the call. “I am leaving Rebecca in your care, and I believe she will be safer here than anywhere else.” Taron stroked Rebecca's hair and gave her a kiss before he exited the mafia house. Taron had informed his security officers earlier about the event, so he put them in strategic places that would give them the advantage. He also called the police to fight with him, he paid a lot of money for that. Taron got to his house. He kept a gun with him and kept two se

The smell of antiseptic filled the room. “Where am I?” Rebecca who had been in a coma finally opened her eyes, she gradually came to her senses. The thick smell of the sterilized air, the sound of beeping, the unfamiliar and white wall made her confirm where she was. “I'm at the hospital.” She said after confirming where she was. “Taron!” She screamed out remembering what had happened. “I have to get out here.” She stated trying to move but was too weak to do so, frustrated by how weak she was, she felt both frustrated and afraid, and she attempted to struggle to move once more, but was unable to. The assistant came in and saw her struggling and yelled. “Do not do that, Miss Moore!” She forced Rebecca to lie back down to the back and used the blanket to cover her. “Who are you?” Rebecca asked confused, as she was not wearing a nurse uniform. “I'm Anaise, one of the assistants under the mafia doctor.” She smiled as the added something into the drip.
CHAPTER 191
Selena was setting up an elaborate plan. She made it her personal mission to attack Taron, not him in particular. She wanted to inflict pain on him or so I thought. “So, I have been with Taron and I know every nook and crazy of the house, within the next few weeks, we will be planning an elaborate attack on Taron.” Selena said, moving across the room in a most dramatic manner. She hired a group of men to attack the house. Amongst the men was Joe radish, he was Anthony and Taron's man on the inside, and nobody knew about him just yet. - Taron was at the mafia house still feeling down about now seeing Rebecca when she was awake. “Why are you guys laying around doing nothing? You work, you get paid, no one paying you to stand around and do nothing.” Taron yelled at the employees. He knew was being hard, but he did not like being moody, he did not want to be like those bosses like all the ones who just yelled at employees based on personal matters. “Taron, son, yo
CHAPTER 190
Taron was too busy, as there was a lot of workload on his head for him to do when the phone call came in. "Taron?" It was Anthony. "Yes, Anthony? What happened?" Taron asked, suddenly worried. "It's good news, actually, you have to know that Rebecca is awake." Anthony said and Taron's heart stopped. He was not sure that he had heard correctly, so he got to his feet slowly. "What are you talking about?" Taron asked. "Rebecca, she is currently awake and she is talking to your mother currently." Anthony said, and Taron was silent for a few seconds before he got very excited. "I'm on my way!" Taron said and cut the call. "Julian!" Taron's current secretary started to knock at the door when he heard his name, and all Taron could wonder was the kind of idiot that he had hired as he secretary. "Come in, Julian! You only have to knock twice and open up when I call you in myself!" Taron yelled and the door opened, and Julian practically flew into the office. "What is

Selena was pacing around as she waited for them to arrive. She had had this nagging feeling for a good, long while now, and now she was sure of it! Taron was playing mind games with her, just as she had been doing with him. "Excuse me? Why did you text like that? I was startled!" Sarah said, looking at Sarah in disbelief as she came inside the house. "It was urgent!" Selena sighed. "You're the first to arrive, I'm waiting for the rest, champagne?" "What do you mean by that? Who else is coming? And next time something is urgent and other people are coming, let me know so that I can prepare!" Sarah yelled. "But you look good already." Selena rolled her eyes. "I can look better." Sarah whined and went to find a spot to sit. "Would you at least tell me why you did this? Why you suddenly called people in here?" Sarah asked. "I'm your best friend, and you're still going to tell everyone eventually!" Selena sighed. She was tired of keeping it to herself anyway. "Wel
