Two weeks later, Vere had just returned from his trip to Italy, he was back home. Ronnie, ever the loyal assistant, was waiting for him at the airport to give him a warm welcome. As soon as Vere stepped off the plane, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief and happiness. He muttered to himself, “Finally, I’m back, and I’m so happy to be home.”

He glanced around and spotted Ronnie, who waved energetically at him. It was clear from the expression on Ronnie’s face that he was just as happy to see Vere again.

“Hey, welcome back, Mr. Wayne! Glad to see you again,” Ronnie greeted him enthusiastically as he approached.

Vere smiled, feeling the familiar comfort of his right-hand man’s presence. “Thank you, Ronnie. How was your vacation, Mr. Wayne? I’m sure you enjoyed the time off. You deserved it,” Ronnie added, his tone sincere.

Vere chuckled softly. “Yes, you’re right. It was great to take a break from everything, but I’m happy to be back.”

The two of them made their way to the car, and as they drove, Vere couldn't help but ask, “So, how’s everything been while I’ve been gone? Did anything major happen?”

“Everything’s fine,” Ronnie reassured him. “We’ll talk more about it later. You need to rest for now, Mr. Wayne. I’m sure the long trip has drained you a bit.”

Vere nodded, grateful for the concern. “I actually feel pretty well-rested after the vacation. I’m totally relaxed, ready to jump back into things.”

Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the mansion. As Vere stepped out of the car, he looked up at the familiar structure and smiled. “Welcome back to the mansion,” he said to himself, a warm feeling washing over him as he looked at Ronnie.

They made their way inside, and after a moment of quiet, they settled down in the living room. It was time to get back to business. Ronnie, always prepared, handed Vere a folder.

“Mr. Wayne,” Ronnie began, “this is the agreement Mr. James and I worked on while you were away. Since your meeting was canceled, we made some formal arrangements in your absence. It’s about the company. We ensured that they won’t sell it to anyone else unless it’s to you.”

Vere’s expression grew serious as he took the folder from Ronnie and opened it. He quickly scanned the contents of the agreement. “This looks solid, Ronnie. You did a great job,” he said, his voice full of approval.

“Thank you, Mr. Wayne,” Ronnie replied, his face lighting up with a grin. He then continued, “However, there’s one thing I need to mention. Since the agreement states that the company can’t be sold to anyone else, the price has gone up. Instead of the original $100 million, the price has increased to $150 million.”

Vere leaned back in his seat, his mind working over the information. He wasn’t too concerned about the price. What mattered more was that the company was still within reach. “Hmm, that’s not a problem for me,” he said thoughtfully. “I don’t care about the price. What matters is that the company will be mine again.”

Ronnie looked at him with a puzzled expression. “Wait… did you just say ‘mine again’? What do you mean?”

Vere paused for a moment, caught off guard by Ronnie’s question. He hadn’t expected Ronnie to pick up on that. After a brief moment of hesitation, he cleared his throat and explained, “Oh, what I mean is… it will be mine once more. This company has always been a part of my work history. I’ve longed for the opportunity to handle it again. I’m determined to make it thrive.”

Ronnie seemed to understand after a beat. “Ah, I see now,” he said, nodding. “Well, take your time, Mr. Wayne. Rest first, and when you’re ready, we can schedule a meeting with Mr. James to finalize everything.”

“Yeah, sure, Ronnie. Thanks a lot,” Vere said, a genuine smile spreading across his face. “I really appreciate all the hard work you’ve put in while I was away.”

With that, the conversation shifted to other matters, and soon enough, Ronnie left the living room, leaving Vere to unwind. He could already feel the weight of responsibility settling back on his shoulders. But he wasn’t intimidated. On the contrary, he was eager to step back into the role he had always felt was meant for him.

After a while, Vere made his way upstairs to his room. The journey had been long and tiring, and he was ready for some much-needed rest. As he entered his spacious bedroom, he took a deep breath, feeling the comfort of being back in familiar surroundings.

Laying down on the bed, Vere allowed his mind to wander. He thought about everything that had happened while he was away, and more importantly, what lay ahead. The company was now within his reach. There was still much to be done, but he was ready. He had always been driven by the desire to make things right, to restore what he had once built. And now, with the agreement in place, all he needed was the opportunity to seal the deal.

As his thoughts drifted, sleep began to take over, and before long, Vere was fast asleep, dreaming of the future he would soon reclaim.

In the meantime, Ronnie remained downstairs, going over a few more details of their plans for the upcoming meeting. He knew how important this next step was for Vere. And while he had done his best to ensure everything went smoothly while his boss was away, he also knew that the real work was just beginning.

For now, though, all they could do was wait, wait for Vere to rest, wait for the right moment to finalize the deal, and wait for the moment when they could take their next big step forward.
