Marley returned from the balcony, his phone call finished, and looked at Dante with a forced, almost tired smile.
"Look, kid," Marley began, pulling a chair closer and sitting down in front of Dante. "I know things have been tough. I know losing your parents, losing your mom-" He paused, his voice softening. "I know it hurts. I've been there too. It's never easy losing someone you love." Dante's chest tightened, but he said nothing, still staring at the phone on the table as if the answers he needed would come from it. "I know how you feel, Dante," Marley continued, his voice laced with an almost sympathetic tone. "You think I don't? Losing your mother.. my sister..." His voice cracked slightly as he let out a slow breath, his gaze dropping to the floor. "It was the hardest thing I ever had to deal with. You know how it is, losing someone that close to you." Dante finally looked up, his eyes narrowing. "You know how it is, huh?" His voice was low, but the words were sharp. "How exactly do you know how it is?" Marley's face tightened in confusion, but he didn't respond immediately. Dante's hands clenched into fists, anger boiling inside him. "Did you think I wouldn't find out?" Dante's voice cracked as he stepped forward, pointing a shaking finger at his uncle. "Did you think I wouldn't find out that you killed my mother? That you helped plan her death with that damn doctor? You-" His throat closed up with emotion, but he fought through it. "You took everything from me. My mother, my childhood. And for what? Power? Money? What?" Marley's face shifted from confusion to genuine concern. "What the hell are you talking about, Dante? Your mother wasn't-" "Murdered?" Dante interrupted, his voice venomous as he repeated the word. He stepped closer, his eyes burning with rage. "ls that what you're going to tell me next? That she wasn't murdered?" Marley looked genuinely perplexed. "Dante, what are you saying? Your mother died of cancer. She wasn'tā" "Cancer?" Dante scoffed, his voice a mix of disbelief and fury. "You expect me to believe that? You think I'm that stupid?" He took a step back, shaking his head in disgust. "You killed her. I know you did. And now you're standing here, acting like it was just some tragic thing, like you didn't have a hand in it." Marley's expression faltered, his eyes shifting uncomfortably. "Dante, listen-" "I don't want to hear it" Dante spat. "What would you do if she was murdered? What would you do to the person who did it? Huh? Tell me." Marley stared at him, clearly taken aback by the question. "What are you even asking me? Why are you-" "I asked you a question!" Dante shouted, his fists trembling at his sides. "If someone killed her, what would you do?" Marley paused, studying Dante's angry, twisted face. His voice was steady when he spoke. "If someone killed her? I'll make them suffer. I'd make them die a slow, painful death." The words hit Dante like a slap in the face. He froze for a moment, processing what Marley had just said. His mind flashed back to the messages he'd read, to the cold, calculated responses from his uncle. The pieces clicked together in his head. "You'd make them die a slow, painful death.." Dante repeated, his voice a chilling whisper. He took a step forward, his hand trembling as he grabbed the champagne bottle from the table. "You said that, didn't you?" Marley raised an eyebrow, confused by Dante's sudden shift in demeanor. "What the hell are you doing, kid?" Dante didn't answer. Instead, he swung the champagne bottle hard at Marley's head, the glass shattering with a sickening crack. Marley screamed, stumbling back as blood poured from the gash on his forehead. His hands reached up to his head, his face contorted in pain and confusion. "What the hell?" Marley gasped, his voice filled with disbelief as he staggered backward, trying to stop the bleeding. "Why did you do it, Marley?" Dante's voice cracked as he advanced, his eyes wild with anger and pain. "Why did you kill her? What did I do to you? What did I do to deserve losing my mother? You took that from me. You took everything from me!" Marley's eyes widened, finally realizing what was happening. "Dante... no. You don't understand. It's not what you think! T never meant to hurt you. You've got it all wrong. I've always cared for you, like a son-" "Like a son?" Dante laughed bitterly, his hands trembling as he stepped closer. "f you cared for me, you wouldn't have killed her. You wouldn't have taken her from me." Tears burned in Dante's eyes as he took another step forward, his mind consumed with rage. He reached for a nearby glass shard, his movements sharp and precise. Without another word, Dante lunged forward, slashing the glass across Marley's throat. Marley gasped, his hands clutching at his neck as blood sprayed out, choking on his own breath. He stumbled backward, his eyes wide with shock, as his life drained away. "Dante, no-" Marley gasped, his voice faint. "Please... don't-" But it was too late. With a final, agonizing breath, Marley collapsed to the floor, his blood pooling around him. Dante stood there, panting, his chest heaving with the weight of what he had just done. His hands were slick with blood, but there was no turning back. He had avenged his mother, even if it had cost him his soul. Suddenly, a soft beep echoed from above, a notification flashing on the screen of Marley's phone. Dante's eyes widened as the message appeared: Mafia Overload System: Mission successful. Reward: $120,000. Upgrade: Low-ranking soldier. The system's reward wasn't a surprise. It was as if fate had aligned with his actions, acknowledging the death of his uncle and marking his rise within the criminal world. Dante swallowed hard, his hands trembling, staring at the blood-stained hands in front of him. His mind buzzed with confusion and disbelief. What have I done? The question echoed through his thoughts, but there was no answer. He stared at Marley's lifeless body, his uncleās blood soaking into the floor. He took a shaky breath, his body trembling. "I... I killed him," Dante muttered under his breath, his voice cracking as he finally spoke aloud. Suddenly, a voice shattered the silence. "Dante?!" He whipped around, his eyes wide as they landed on the figure standing in the doorway. Lucas. His cousin. The last person Dante wanted to see right now. Lucas stood frozen, staring at the scene before him, his eyes widening as he took in the dead body on the floor and the blood-soaked Dante. "Wh-what the hell happened here?" Lucas stammered, his voice shaking, looking from Dante to Marleyās lifeless form. "Is that... is that my father?!"

Victor spun around, meeting Danteās calm gaze. He tightened his fists, his voice cold. "You better not mess this up, Dante."Dante chuckled lightly, his hands raised in mock surrender. "Relax, Vic. I didnāt, and Iām not planning to. Just here to enjoy the moment."Victorās jaw tightened as he caught movement behind Dante. His men rushed in, encircling them quietly. A faint smile tugged at Victor's lips as he stepped closer to Dante. "You see, Dante, I could get rid of you right now. A snap of my fingers, and you'd disappear. No one would notice a thing."Danteās smirk didnāt falter. He tilted his head slightly. "You could, but Iād advise against it. Unless, of course, youāve accounted for everything Iāve been keeping an eye on."Victorās eyes narrowed, his voice a deadly whisper. At a private airport, the rumble of a plane engine gradually faded as it came to a halt on the runway. A cigar hung from his lips, its ember glowing faintly in the dusk light.Victor stood near the hangar, his posture respectful but firm. He held a bouquet of fresh flowers, an unusual but calculated gesture of deference. As the old man approached, Victor extended the bouquet toward him."Mr. Delgado," Victor said with a polite nod. "Itās an honor to see you again after all these years."The old man took the flowers, a faint smirk curling his lips as he examined them briefly before looking back at Victor. "Nice touch, Vic. Pacing the length of the garden, his tone was already laced with frustration when Victor answered."I told him, Victor," Lucas snapped, not waiting for a greeting. "I warned the damn doctor. I said thereād be consequences if he didnāt cooperate. But he ignored me, and now heās gone. Vanished! And no one knows where the hell he is."Victorās voice on the other end was steady but tense. "Calm down. We know who took him."Lucas stopped dead in his tracks, narrowing his eyes. "Who?"There was a brief pause before Victor said the name. "Dante."For a moment, Lucas was silent.
