    He lost all sense of time, trapped in the darkness. He was beaten regularly, his body battered and bruised. Despite the pain and the despair, Alex held on to one thing - the thought of Elena. The door creaked open, and a figure loomed in the doorway. Alex's eyes adjusted slowly to the light, and he saw the face of one of Mr. Smith's goons. "You're a lucky man, Alex," the goon sneered. "Mr. Smith wants to see you. Again." As the goon dragged Alex out of his cell, he couldn't help but think that he was being taken to his death. He was weak, battered, and bruised, and he knew he couldn't take much more of this torture.
