“This has to be a mistake!” Eleanor screamed, her face twisting with disbelief. “The name is wrong! It should be Camilla, not… Eleanor! How could you people make such a ridiculous mistake? That woman’s company is practically dead. It’s on the verge of bankruptcy!”

The crowd erupted into murmurs as all eyes shifted between the two women.

Camilla let out a mocking laugh, her eyes filled with undisguised contempt.

“I am not like you,” she said proudly. “I don’t bribe people to get to the top. I earned this with my own hard work… and with Dominic’s help.”

Sebastian smirked arrogantly beside her, wrapping an arm around her waist.

“With the help of who?” Eleanor scoffed before bursting into laughter. She pointed directly at Dominic. “That pathetic loser? The man who can’t amount to anything? Don’t make me laugh.”

Without wasting another second, Eleanor hurried toward Jeff the moment she spotted him.

“Jeff!” she called anxiously.

He turned around just as she reached him.

“What’s going on here?” she demanded. “You have to fix this immediately. Talk to the host. The partner should be me, not Camilla. There has obviously been some kind of mistake.”

Jeff frowned as he glanced toward the stage before looking back at her.

“Ms. Eleanor, please calm down,” he said in a reassuring voice. “There must be a misunderstanding somewhere. Believe me, I’m just as surprised as you are.”

His expression hardened.

“I’ll personally look into this and make sure everything is corrected if there’s truly been an error.”

Jeff slipped a hand into his pocket and pulled out his phone. His expression darkened as he scrolled through his contacts before pressing a familiar number.

The call barely rang once before it was answered.

“Jeff.” A calm, mature voice came from the other end. “I wasn’t expecting your call tonight. Is there a problem?”

“There is a huge problem,” Jeff snapped, his patience already gone. He shot a furious glare at Camilla before lowering his voice. “The partnership that was supposed to go to Ms. Eleanor somehow ended up in the hands of that useless woman, Camilla. Her company is on the verge of bankruptcy. There is no way she qualified for this.”

He clenched his jaw.

“I don’t care how it happened, but you need to fix it immediately. I’ve invested too much money into you over the years. If this isn’t resolved, you’ll return every single penny I’ve ever given you.”

There was a brief silence on the other end.

“Jeff, calm down,” the man finally replied. “Don’t make any rash decisions. I’ll personally investigate what happened and get to the bottom of this.”

His voice turned serious.

“If there has been a mistake, I will make sure Ms. Eleanor receives what rightfully belongs to her.”

He paused before lowering his own voice.

“Besides, the Supreme God has already taken an interest in Ms. Eleanor. We cannot afford to ruin this opportunity. Everything must work in her favor.”

“And don’t worry, I personally added her name myself so the host must have made a mistake, I am coming down there.”

A faint smile appeared on Jeff’s face as his anger slowly eased.

“I knew I could count on you.”

“You can,” the man answered confidently. “After all, I still own five percent of Blackcrest International’s shares. I have enough influence to find out exactly who made this decision. Just give me a little time.”

“Fine.”

Jeff ended the call and slid his phone back into his pocket, a smug smile spreading across his face.

He slowly turned toward Camilla and Dominic, his eyes filled with ridicule.

“Enjoy your little victory while it lasts,” he sneered. “It won’t be long before everything is taken away from you.”

Just then, the grand ballroom doors swung open.

Will strode inside with long, confident steps, his sharp eyes immediately sweeping across the hall. The moment he noticed the celebration surrounding Camilla, a deep frown settled on his face.

He had personally seen the final partnership list in Gladys’s office the previous afternoon, and Camilla’s company had never been on it.

Something was terribly wrong.

His gaze landed on the host standing on the stage.

Without hesitation, he walked straight toward him.

“Host!” Will called out sharply.

The host turned around with a polite smile.

“Mr. Will.”

Will’s expression was cold.

“I want an explanation.”

The smile on the host’s face faded.

“The partnership list I saw yesterday didn’t include Camilla’s company. How did her name suddenly become the final winner? Who gave you permission to change the list?”

The host’s brows knitted together in confusion.

“Mr. Will, I didn’t change anything.”

“Don’t lie to me,” Will snapped. “The list announced tonight is completely different from the one I saw yesterday.”

The host straightened his back and met Will’s gaze.

“I announced exactly what was inside the sealed envelope handed to me before I came on stage. I didn’t add or remove a single name.”

Will narrowed his eyes.

“Then someone must have tampered with the list before it reached you.”

“And that must be Dominic!”
