Jessica turned to Emily, who answered honestly, "Jessica, he's my friend Evelyn's ex-husband and a doctor. I asked him to come and check on Grandpa's condition."

Jessica shot Gabriel a scornful glance, her eyes sweeping over him.

"He's a doctor? What a joke!"

She added, "Emily, my grandfather is the founder of Patel Group. How could you bring someone so shabby to treat him? What if something terrible happens?"

Emily flushed, clearly uncomfortable with Jessica's sharp words.

Noticing Aaron standing behind Jessica, Alice quickly put on a polite smile.

"Mr. Freeman, Jessica says you're a miracle doctor, and I believe it. After all, you have a Ph.D. in medicine."

Her smile widened. "We're counting on you to treat Evelyn's grandfather. If you do well, there'll be a generous reward."

Aaron smiled politely. "Thank you, ma'am."

Aaron had been pursuing Emily for some time, but she always kept her distance.

Now, seeing her bring in an intern who looked like a poor guy, he felt a surge of frustration. He stepped closer to Emily, his gaze burning with anger.

"Emily, why did you ask him for help? Are you saying that I, with my Ph.D. in medicine, am not as good as an intern?"

Emily let out a smirk.

"If you're a miracle doctor, then you should be confident. What are you so worried about?"

Jessica tugged on Aaron's sleeve and whispered with a sly grin, "Dr. Freeman, having that clueless intern around only makes you look better. It'll help you win Emily over."

Aaron blinked in surprise, then nodded slightly.

His feelings for Emily ran deep, and his gaze lingered on her, filled with determination.

Emily, feeling uneasy under his intense stare, let out a huff and turned toward the bed.

"Let's just get started. Grandpa needs to be checked."

Aaron followed her closely, his eyes locked on her sexy booty as if he couldn't bear to look away.

"Grandpa, I'm not skilled enough to treat you on my own. That's why Evelyn and I brought two doctors to help."

Jessica, who was also a doctor, leaned in to whisper something to Brandon before straightening up.

She glanced between Aaron and Gabriel.

"So, which one of you is going first?"

Aaron lifted his chin, his disdainful gaze fixed on Gabriel.

"Intern, you go ahead."

Gabriel shook his head with a faint smile.

"I'm not good at this. Dr. Freeman, you can go first."

He carried a backpack with a set of acupuncture needles, but after assessing Brandon's condition, he knew they wouldn't be necessary today.

Aaron smirked, clearly pleased with this answer.

"At least you know your place."

He leaned over and began examining Brandon.

After completing his check, Aaron straightened up and addressed Brandon with confidence.

"Mr. Patel, there's nothing seriously wrong with you. You have some blockages in your blood vessels, and I'll clear them with acupuncture. Just relax."

He reached for his needles, preparing to begin the treatment.

Gabriel's expression darkened.

He knew immediately that Aaron had misdiagnosed the condition, and his treatment could put Brandon's life in danger.

"Dr. Freeman, you've made a mistake," Gabriel said.

"What?"

Aaron turned to him with a mocking smile. "You just said you're not good at this, and now you're telling me I made a mistake? Then why don't you tell us what Brandon's condition is?"

Gabriel's tone was calm but serious.

"It's not blocked blood vessels anyway."

Aaron let out a loud laugh.

"You have no idea what you're talking about, punk. Stop pretending to be an expert. When I'm performing acupuncture, keep your mouth shut."

Aaron glared at Gabriel before bending back down to start inserting the needles.

Gabriel stood at the back of the group, his hands clenched into fists. He shook his head, muttering under his breath, "What a shame."

He continued, "Miraculous Needling is a life-saving acupuncture technique, but if Dr. Freeman uses it on Brandon, it could lead to a fatal accident."

Jessica's heart skipped a beat at his words.

'How did this so-called intern know about Eastern medical techniques?' she wondered.

She prided herself on her own medical knowledge, yet she couldn't make sense of Aaron's acupuncture technique. But Gabriel clearly could.

Aaron's face darkened as he snapped at Gabriel.

"Ma'am, how can you let a quack stay here and mess with my acupuncture? Get him out, or I'm done!"

Alice had always looked down on Gabriel. Ever since his divorce, she had worried he might try to get close to Emily. Now, seeing him causing trouble, she didn't hesitate to shove him.

"Get lost, you useless intern! You don't belong here!"

Caught off guard, Gabriel stumbled back, barely keeping his balance.

"Alright, alright, I'll leave," he muttered.

But just as he turned to go, Brandon suddenly began coughing violently.

"Cough, cough!"

His face turned deathly pale, his lips darkened, and his whole body started trembling. Blood trickled from his mouth and nose as his eyes rolled back.

Emily let out a panicked scream.

"Grandpa! What's happening? God, this is serious!"

Aaron froze, his confidence crumbling.

He had used the ninth technique from Miraculous Needling, a method meant to clear Brandon's blood vessels with immediate results. But now, things were spiraling out of control.

Jessica's face turned white with fear as she stammered, "Grandpa's not going to make it. What do we do?"

Brandon's convulsions grew worse with each passing second. It was clear he was on the brink of death.

"Dad! Dad, hang on!"

Emily's father, Henry Patel, who had been silently watching from the back of the ward, suddenly rushed forward, his voice trembling with rage.

"Aaron, you've killed my father! You'll pay for this with your life!"

The ward fell into a heavy, suffocating silence.

"Grandpa, no! Please don't leave us!"

Emily broke down, her sobs echoing through the room.

At that moment, the door flew open, and a group of doctors in white coats hurried in.

"What's going on here?"

They were the hospital's top specialists, led by a tall, middle-aged man whose sharp eyes quickly took in the chaotic scene.

"Dr. Anderson, who is he?" Alice immediately stepped forward, her tone urgent as she asked Jason Anderson, Brandon's attending physician.

Jason introduced the man with a respectful nod.

"This is Professor Peter Smith from Calonia Medical University. He's a leading expert in internal medicine and one of the most respected authorities in the field. We invited him specifically to treat Mr. Patel."

Alice's face lit up with relief and hope. "Professor Smith, please check on Brandon right away!"

Peter nodded and approached the bedside. His expression darkened the moment he saw Brandon's condition.

"Who inserted these acupuncture needles? This is ridiculous!"

Without hesitation, he reached out to remove the needles.

"Wait!" Aaron quickly stepped in, blocking him.

"What's wrong?" Peter raised an eyebrow, clearly annoyed.

"Professor Smith, you can't pull them out yet. If you do, his condition will get worse."

Sweat dripped down Aaron's forehead. "He's having a heart attack. Just one more needle, and I can stabilize him."

He couldn't afford to lose face in front of Emily.

"Bullsh*t!"

Peter scoffed, his tone cold, "If acupuncture could cure heart disease, why would we need modern medicine? I understand you're concerned, but reckless actions like this will only make things worse."

His voice was firm, leaving no room for argument.

Jason quickly chimed in, backing Peter up.

"Exactly. Professor Smith has saved countless critically ill patients. With him here, Mr. Patel is in the best hands."

The other doctors nodded in agreement, their voices rising in unison.

"You should trust Professor Smith. If you interfere, there'll be dire consequences."
