The Statement

“Good morning Mr. Jensen” the personal assistant, Rita said calmly approaching the aged man.

Logan’s eyes trailed her as she moved elegantly across the room, almost as if he was enchanted by her.

“I’m sorry sir, but you are needed urgently at the company. There’s been an emergency”, Rita stated regrettably.

“What’s the situation?” Jensen replied in a harsh tone.

The girl glanced at Logan, unsure of who he was and decided to whisper the occurrence at the company to Jensen in efforts to keep it confidential

"Missing accounts?!" Jensen exclaimed suddenly, pulling Logan out of his thoughts.

"Yes sir. It seems there's a fraud in the company", he said and took a deep breath as if thinking about it

"Can I have a pen?" Logan sat up immediately walking towards the desk. Rita hurriedly marched towards him and handed him a pen.

Logan regarded her for a moment with a smile and said "Thank you" as his hand lightly grazed her palms.

He quickly pulled out the documents Jensen had left on the desk, read through them and signed.

It was finally official; he was now the owner of his family fortune and properties.

At that point, he decided that his first act would be fishing out whoever dared to steal from company funds and bringing them to their knees.

Sharply, he turned to Jensen

"Tell the driver to get the car ready. I'll be joining you at the company today" Logan said authoritatively. The more he thought about it, the more he reflected his anger over his wife cheating on him to finding this person.

A few moments later, he arrived at Parker’s Inc in a Rolls Royce. When he stepped out of the car, several onlookers present turned their eyes towards him in shock. It was quite a stir to see a man dressed in such a mediocre way step out from such a luxurious vehicle.

In no time a group of people gathered, trying to figure out who the mysterious man was.

Logan moved purposely and entered the building, heading straight to the front desk.

Mr. Jensen was still outside attending to an urgent call, and Logan went on without him. As soon as the receptionist saw him, she hung up her call and sharply addressed Logan

"Excuse me, sir. May I help you?" She said with a condescending stare, scanning Logan from head to toe. At her core, she knew there was no way a guy like this would have any business in their company

"I'm here to meet Jonah" Logan stated,

"The manager" he added when he saw the repulsing look on the receptionist's face.

"I'm sorry sir, I think you're confused", the receptionist said, still looking at him disdainfully.

Dennis immediately noticed her gaze and understood what was going on. He had left the house promptly without a change of clothes, still dressed in the outfit he trudged in the snow with.

Compared to the other people present at the building, his outfit was mediocre.

"Is that what you were taught to do here?" Logan said, scowling at her. He then sighed and added,

"I'm going to have to shape this place up".

At this point, the receptionist quickly became offended and upon hearing Logan's statement, assumed that he was crazy.

She picked up the telephone again and dialed hallway security,

"Mark, please come in here. There's a man that’s clearly lost, please come and escort him out of the building.", the receptionist muttered lowly

Just then, a woman's high-pitched voice echoed across the hall as she approached them

"Rita, what's going on here?!"

Dennis turned his gaze and saw a woman in a tan office suit and moderate make-up coming from the hallway.

He stared at her confusedly as the voluptuous lady approached them, the receptionist bowed and greeted her respectfully

"Ms. Francine"

"What seems to be the problem here, Rita?" She asked with a stern gaze.

The receptionist immediately gestured towards Logan

"This man here said he wants to see the manager", she said with a change in tone, sounding respectful now in front of the lady.

"So?",

"I didn't think the manager would be happy to see him like that",

"Like what Rita?!" The lady said sneering at her.

Rita could see in her eyes that any misspoken word at this point could lead to her job termination and became greatly gripped by fear.

"I'm sorry ma'am" the receptionist said defeatedly

Francie turned and bowed to Logan,

"Mr. Smith please forgive this embarrassment. I've been expecting you" Francine said courteously and bowed

"Please this way," she said and walked away, leading Logan towards the board room.

There was no question that this lady knew who he truly was, it seemed Mr. Jensen had gone ahead and announced his arrival to her in case of any eventualities like these.

The receptionist looked askance, her eyes filled with horror as she watched Logan walk away, thanking her stars she had not been fired.

Who was this guy? She pondered

Her boss was a high-profile lady in the city and came from a high-ranking family, everyone treated her with respect and honor. She couldn't ever imagine that they were people that she'd bow to.

When Logan arrived at the boardroom, Owen was addressing some members of the board when his eyes suddenly caught sight of Logan.

Immediately he stopped, frozen in place as if he had seen Bigfoot itself.

"I almost believed my eyes were deceiving me, Logan… I must say you are the last person I expected to walk into my board room" Owen said with a hypocritical smile. At first, he couldn't tell what it was, but something about Logan had changed, almost like he seemed more charismatic, but that only fueled Owen's desire more to put him in place.

He shifted his gaze to Francine and scowled at her, exposing his ugly disguise.

Logan completely ignored him, walked to the shelf in the room, brought out a bottle of wine and a glass, pulled a seat, sat down and poured himself a glass.

"La Fayette Vuela" he said holding up the wine bottle and scoffed

"Hmm! Not bad"

Logan's calm demeanor irritated Owen more. After what he did to him at the party, he didn't think that his lowly employee would have such audaciousness around him.

Immediately, Owen tore off his pretentious mask and slammed the table hard before him,

"What do you think you're doing here Logan?", "Come to stare at the face of the man in bed with your wife?!", Owen mocked and the board members laughed at his poor-taste joke.

That only gave Logan more assurance that he was doing the right thing.

Logan gazed at Owen and smiled mischievously, then continued sipping the wine.

Owen stared at him in disbelief, becoming incensed, he stormed towards Logan and stood in front of him,

"You fucker! You will look at me while I'm talking to you!" He bellowed

The board members who had always supported Owen, and were voting for him to fill the Director position in the company joined him in belittling Logan

"Call the security and throw him out Owen. We have more important things to discuss",

Another person said "Who does the poor loser think he is? Throw him out for Christ's sake. He is nothing but a filth and it's sickening to even have him in this room". They spoke in clamor, criticizing Logan.

Filled with confidence, Owen walked back to his chair and picked up the phone to call security.

At this point, Logan dropped the drink on the small stool and marched towards the glass walls

"I wouldn't do that if I was you", Logan said in a threatening voice, Owen paused and shot him a quizzical look that said "Why?", still holding the phone to his ear.

Logan sighed and walked towards him,

"I'm going to change things around here, starting with this office," he said gazing out through the glass walls with his arms crossed behind him, then he turned sharply to face Owen, and said confidently with a bold face.

"I promise you Mr. Ferrell, when you press that dial and the security shows up. I won't be the one leaving this office, it will be you"
