2025-02-21 00:24:48Ethan raised his head slowly and suddenly shaked his head, soon his eyes became normal as he could see a juvenile standing before him and pointing her baton at his face.
"Who are you?" He asked nervously, she breath slowly and stretched her hand to help him up, while handing over his spear. Even though she was frighten to assist him, she could see how witty this boy looked and seemed harmless if he could control the beast in him.
"You shouldn't walk alone" she beckoned. Ethan thanked her and she glanced at the path which Eric took, it made her flinch as she suddenly ran towards his direction and Ethan followed suit.
Eric dodged this monster's blow as he was racing towards the lobby, he got to a place that there was no way out except through the window, the beast raced in raged as Eric said a silent prayer and immediately the monster jumped to pounced on him, Eric threw himself to the other side hurriedly, the monster had no idea that it's prey wasn't by the window which made it break through the window and landed gravely to the ground; which had flames due to car which were exploding due to monsters wrecking them. Eric closed his eyes and said "amen" as soon as he discovered that he was safe. Blevine Found him laying on pieces of trash by the lobby and sighed a relief.
"Don't ever try that again!" She mused with red face as though she cried. Her intensions wasn't for him to risk his life but just offer help where he can. Eric smile and shifted his gaze to Ethan who had blood all over but didn't seem hurt, his cloth was torn but his skin didn't look bruise which got him perplexed.
"I suspect he's a monster but haven't transform fully" blevine whispered to his eyes and Eric narrowed his brow at Ethan who swallowed hard. She explained with that much banging that the monster gave to this boy, he should have been dead.
"Perhaps he's controlling it?" Eric whispered back and she shrugged her shoulders.
"What if he can't hold it in? We would be dead" she whispered back. Ethan could hear their whispers which sadden his heart and he walked away from them. He got to the 5th floor and found a wash basin, there he cleaned up, he suddenly heard a door bash open. He picked his spear which he placed on the wall and tiptoed away from where he stood. His eyes caught sight of Steve who was breaking through every door and searching for someone. Steve turned slightly and found Ethan staring at him mute.
"Are you heading downstairs or coming from there?" Steve asked huskily but Ethan didn't respond as he walked pass him.
"Hey!" He groaned and pulled out his gun angrily as though he intended to shot Ethan but he shot at a monster which looked a giant spider crawling down from the roof towards Ethan, who looked like he was half dead with the way he walked. Ethan shuddered when he heard the gun shot and heard something fall heavily behind him, he swiveled and found a monster on the ground. His eyes met with Steve who brushed pass his shoulder and ran downstairs. Glancing at the monster, he wondered if he would transform to one as those two adults claimed. It got him all petrified that he couldn't move an inch further and unexpectedly, his image appeared gazing at him feeding him with grievance again just for Ethan to become a monster. It eyes were always black, it cloth same with that of Ethan and it's lips red as though it crave for vipers. This was Ethan's inner self speaking to him and it often happens to everyone as their thoughts speaks to them either good or bad. Those who transforms to monsters either succumb to it or turn deaf ears to their desperate desires but what could Ethan's deepest desire be?
"Yield in, Ethan, everyone would be afraid of us not we being scared of them!" It screeched.
"And if I give in to your demands, I become a monsters like the others..." Ethan paused and glanced at the spear in his hand with a wry smile.
"I've got a lot to live for" he said out of the blue, shook his head which made the image vanish away and ran downstairs making way for the ground floor.
Jessica heard the announcement which her brother made and she mused over it. She had returned to their apartment to curse over her wasted dream as she tore off all her dresses that reminded her of ballet. That was what she wanted, to become the best ballet in the country but it was all a waste because the country was becoming something else. She picked her cardigan and some food items while wiping her swollen face because of the tears that she had shed when she returned.
"Let's survive first" she said to herself, she didn't carry any weapon that would protect her except pepper spray. Jessica locked her door and paced out, everyone who was a survivor hasten to the ground floor but Fidel was on the watch for his sister who was one of the reasons he made the announcement. In a short while, he saw her pacing downstairs and was excited that she was still alive, however a bruised man walked slowly behind her. He had an eye now as he looked pathetic.
"Am I allowed to stay?" The man asked and Fidel hummed. There was a room around there that Fidel had segregated to treat people who had hurt themselves, however one couldn't trust this young man blindly. This stranger acted friendly to them except Fidel who stared curiously, suddenly the firefighter paced downstairs which torn cloth too, she glared at Fidel and pulled him aside demanding to have a word with him
"Wow, you must have gone through a lot of beating from monsters" Mrs Choi commented immediately Fidel left with the firefighter and her dog suddenly barked at the young man. Surprisedly, he had a large box filled with food items in it. He rolled it slowly and placed it in the middle.
"Let's share" he muttered with a smile. Ollie was the first to take a close look at the items, he never wanted to be sent on an errand which he knew wouldn't come back alive.

Afternoon. The time of the day when the sun was at its peak. Due to the special geography of Barnes city and it's environs it received a lot of sun daily. On the highway leading out of Barnes city,a truck could be seen rushing past the buildings . There was a black motorcycle in the back while four people consisting of three men and a lady sat surrounding it. Inside the truck there were two men,one driving while the other was well not really doing anything bringing the total to six. Suddenly from one of the abandoned houses on the side of the road a tiger like monster suddenly jumped out with the intention of ambushing the truck. However,before it could even step on the asphalt,there was a bang and it fell on the spot having received a bullet to the head. “Here this should be the place right? Looks like a nice spot.” Followed by the rumbling sounds of an engine dying off a black a motorcycle stopped at the entrance of the Freetown convienence store. On a free express highway a dumb looking monster that looked like an dodo but with four legs stood in one of the bushes by the side of the road while glaring at its own reflection in a puddle of water. Today was the fourth day since it had last eaten and right now it was not an exaggeration to say that it could eat anything. While it could go out hunting,it dared not to as most of the monsters out there were stronger than it. It was just a rogue tier,venturing near them would be just like offering itself up for dinner!
