My head still cannot grasp while the system would ask me to kiss someone like Olivia.

I mean, she was my girlfriend. Not that we were official but I was planning to make things official with her.

I wanted to show her off to my foster mother and let her know she meant a lot to me but now, I wasn't sure who to trust anymore.

My revenge was slowly turning into a death wish by the day.

Courtesy of the system.

I looked at Eliot's body on the ground again and I felt scared. This was my fault. If I had just tried to play the game without trying to involve him then I might not have added to the body count.

I looked at the cloth I was wearing. It had been tainted with his blood. I could see students running up and down after the sound of the sniper and the death of Eliot.

My gaze locked with Derek who was seated without fret.

Was he the shooter?

Or did he know something about it?

For a moment, my mind was off the quest I was giving. What intrigued me most was his calmness. T

If you ask me, this was a game where you need to be smart and also know your enemies. Olivia got closer to me trying to play the loving part and even agreed to take Derek and Selena down. I still believed she did it for the money when she was actually rich and could take care of her bills. I looked at her as she walked past me. "So why did you agree to date me? I mean, fake the relationship with me." The word slipped out of my mouth as I looked at her. "You wanted revenge. I also wanted revenge against Derek." Olivia said without looking at me. "What did he do to you?" "Not now, Jason. Who are you nominating?" She asked, staring at me. I know I need to be careful. "Isn't it obvious? The system brought out Derek and also Eliot. I need to let one of them go." "So who is it going to be?" Olivia asked again."Why are you so curious about who has to go? They both are a thorn in my flesh. It would be a relief to know one of them was gone." "Then I think we both need to decide who it

I don't know if I should even trust Olivia after what happened. But she was with me anyways. I knew I have to understand the level of shit I was in and if Olivia had been a player before I was, then I have to keep her close. I looked at her each time I drove, I don't know if it was smart taking her home or just going to a hotel but I think we were out of the woods for now. The hum of the engine was the only sound filling the space between us, yet the silence felt louder than any explosion. Olivia leaned her head against the window, eyes blank, but I knew her mind was spinning just like mine. The system's message had shifted everything. "New rank players have the final decision to opt out of gamers in the next rounds." It echoed again in my head like a ticking bomb hidden beneath our words.I knew who I would like to see exit the game. I could nominate Derek, Eliot and possibly Selena. They are my sworn enemies and for some weird reason I wasn't at peace knowing they were in the ga

"Run, Olivia. Run!" I shouted as I tried to come between her and the red dot. Olivia took to her heels while I waited in anticipation. My eyes slowly fixed on the door that was supposed to open. The door was pushed open, and a janitor walked in with a headset on his ears. It was blinking the red dot. My mind was at ease when I saw it. "What are you doing here?! Aren't you supposed to be on your way home?" the janitor said, looking at me. I gulp down the thick saliva at the back of my throat. My chest heaving up and down. "I came to get something down here." I said, picking up one of Olivia's shoes, The janitor looked at me and laughed. "Is that your girl's?" I nodded without many words, but then I remembered I had left Olivia all by herself. If anything was going to happen to her, I needed to be there. I bolted out of the room, running towards the garage. I knew that was the very first place she was going to go. My heart beat fast as the echoes of my footsteps could be heard.

A sharp sting yanked me out of unconsciousness. My head throbbed, and my cheek pulsed with pain. I groaned as my eyes fluttered open, trying to adjust to the low light. A flickering bulb overhead swung from the ceiling, casting eerie shadows that danced across the walls. I felt something cold and metallic press against my wrists. Cuffs. I was tied to a chair. “What the hell…” I murmured, my voice hoarse. I jerked, testing the restraints. Tight. Someone knew what they were doing. The air smelled like mildew and rust. I scanned the room—or rather, the dungeon. Stone walls. A single wooden door. A strange symbol etched into the concrete floor beneath me. That’s when I heard it. Footsteps. Soft, deliberate. Heels. Then, a voice. “Took you long enough to wake up.” My breath caught in my throat. Olivia. She stepped into view, wearing a black hoodie over her school uniform, the hood pulled back just enough to reveal her face. Her expression was unreadable—somewhere between regr

I looked at the floor and watched as the blood poured down to my leg. Eliot's eyes were opened in a frightened manner that sent chills down my spine. There was a loud noise from the kissing booth and immediately all the students took to their heels. I didn't know what to do or what to say. My hands were shaking. I looked between his eyes and I saw it was a gunshot. Sniper maybe. I don't need to be told why Eliot was taken down. I knew it had to do with the fact that he was trying to help me. I felt like crying for him. Now,it is now real that the system meant every word. Every mission that was given. I looked at the table Eliot gave to me and decided to run. Women. They are funny creatures. I looked at my side and Olivia was gone. "Liv! Liv!!" I shouted twice trying to see if she was hiding around. I knew the system was going to make me pay for what I did. I felt my whole book shook from fear. I ran back to the department and stayed there. My heart was incredibl
