“War?” he asked, standing up sharply. Victoria stood too, concern flashing across her face.

“Yes, sir,” the man said quickly. “It broke out in the South Province.”

Ethan let out a sharp hiss of frustration.

“How the hell did you let this happen? I gave you one simple job, and you still managed to mess it up.”

“I tried to inform you,” the man replied, his voice tight. “But you were… occupied. Jack took advantage of that. He signed the war contract while you were unavailable.”

“That fucking bastard,” Ethan growled, clenching his fists. His jaw tightened, rage boiling just beneath the surface. “He knew exactly what he was doing. I swear,” he muttered through gritted teeth, “I’m going to make him regret ever crossing me.”
