Half an hour later, Reed arrived at Cornell Snow's residence and stared at it from a distance.

Blood money. Lavished items. Underrated Criminals.

Were the thoughts that crept slowly into him as he scoffed. He watched wealthy men glide their expensive cars into the private white mansion.

He'd been here once to deliver a set of files to Cornell when he was still his subordinate . But now, he was here for a different reason- to surprise them with his presence and ‘gift’.

They dared to throw a party after what they did?

The thought of the bodyguard, the old man he helped earlier, crept into him again and he shook his head.

That would be too easy of a punishment to give to someone that tormented his brother for three years.

THEY WOULD BEG ON THEIR KNEES!

Sharon! Cornell! Just you wait until you see me. He thought, a malicious sneer tugged at the corner of his lips as he walked forward confidently with his hands roughly shoved into the pocket of his faded, cheap jeans.

However, just as he reached the entrance, he wasn't surprised to see a long queue of guests, each displaying their invitation cards at the counter as a valid means of entry.

Without hesitation, Reed joined the queue.

“Mrs Cornell must be the luckiest woman alive, being with Mr Cornell!’

“I wish I were her”

“I heard they've been together for so long!”

“Just look at that sculpture - it's breathtaking!”

At the mention of the sculpture, Reed turned sideways to see a golden human figure displayed on the centre table.

A dark grin crept across his face.

When I am done with you all, the sculpture will be bathed in your blood.

“Who are you?”

A voice asked, jolting him from his thoughts while he looked up to see a security personnel look at him with pure disgust.

“I'm here to see Sharon and Cornell. I'm sure they are already here at the venue.” Reed retorted sharply and coldly.

At once, the man's face became twisted with offence and anger.

At first, the other guests were too distracted to notice what was going on.

“How dare you say their names casually? Do you even know who they are? With just a snap of my fingers, you'll be behind bars”

“I'd love to see you try,” Reed replied nonchalantly as he looked ahead, waiting for his turn.

Only then did the man snap his fingers and two other personnel walked in.

Speaking into his walkie-talkie, the man continued “Suspected thief on-site. Send backup!”

That moment, all eyes darted towards them only to notice that the wretched man had been standing among them all these while.

“Take him away from here!”

“How did he manage to enter?”

Reed, who seemed unfazed, responded calmly, “I hope you won't regret what you are doing!”

The security personnel now visibly enraged and slapped Reed across his face.

However, the man's frown deepened as he gently touched his cheek but still, he said nothing.

This was the least of his problems.

“Regret? You will be the one to regret this, you beggar! Do you think this place is a place for thieves? If you wanted food, you could have just asked and…”

“For the last time, I am not a thief!”

Reed interrupted coldly as they grabbed his arms and began escorting him towards the detonation cell.

It turned out that they had secretly prepared for the thieves that would definitely come around to disturb the peace of the party and had created a temporary cell in the mansion.

“You are a threat to the guests here, so, you won't be allowed to ruin this gathering with your nonsense, you wretched man!”

The man continued.

“Do you think this place is meant for you?” Another security officer asked.

Reed knew he could have easily used his powers at any moment but like the civilised man that he was, he was willing to see how far they would go.

After all, the party was yet to boom.

“Stop!”

A sharp voice erupted through the hallway just as the cell door was about to be opened.

The officers turned to see a woman stand there with her expression cold and commanding.

Dressed in all black, her boots echoed on the commanding floor, excluding power. Reed instantly assumed that she was their superior.

“Hands off!”

She snapped.

The guards hesitated as they looked at each other, uncertainly.

“Boss, it's a thief. We caught him. He's disturbing the guests and…”

“I SAID HANDS OFF!”

Half a minute later, Selena was about to fall to her knees when the man hurriedly caught her, supporting her weight as he looked deeply into her eyes.At that moment, a strange sensation surged through the room. Reed’s healing energy suddenly surged within him, swelling uncontrollably, on the verge of exploding.Realizing how dangerous that could be for Selena, he tried to suppress it. This wasn’t the first time something like this had happened. He recalled a similar incident with one of the inmates in prison, a woman who dared to test whether he truly was the demon people claimed him to be.But she made the greatest mistake of her life when she touched him at the peak of his energy.Back then, his inner energy had been so unstable that he could barely contain it without Master Xavier’s help. The moment she touched him in the cafeteria, fire had erupted from his body. She was almost burned alive, left with a terrible scar. Only afterward did the old hag explain to Reed the importance

Realising that would make his brother stop asking him numerous questions about his source of money, Reed stood up, intending to play along as much as Selena wanted. “I'm sorry for my brother's attitude. It's obvious that he doesn't know what he's supposed to do. However, I hope you will treat him right!” Vincent said with a bright smile completely smitten by her beauty while Selena nodded with a light chuckle. To her, it felt nice that she was meeting with her boss's family. “Do not mind our house structure. I know it's not what you expect and…”“It's fine…” “I…”However, just as his brother was about to ask more questions, Reed hurriedly grabbed her hands and continued, “She would like to leave now…”“But we haven't offered her anything yet…’Yet, Reed was gone. The moment they stepped outside, he tucked his hands into his pocket and stared at her. For some reason, it felt as though she was being judged for what she had done. Not knowing whether she had offended him or not, she

“Reed, tell me the truth. I am your brother and I promise you that I will not judge you! Are you into money cultism?” Vincent exclaimed in fear. He knew the implications of being into money cultism. The end of it was not always the best and in fact, the cult society would get more than they bargained from them. “What? No! That's not true. My money is decent!” Reed continued, wondering how else to convince his brother. However, he understood his point of view. They grew up in poverty that such amount of money he promised his brother seemed too good to be true. In fact, it was a dream! No one would offer him that kind of money especially since he just got out of jail. “I want you to believe me because I will never tell lies to you!” Reed said again, his gaze softening. “That's not true. We both know that no one in our family has ever been successful. We've always been managing our resources…”“That's…” Reed said and stopped abruptly wondering how else to let his brother understand

“I have a better hair shave in my car, sir. How about I give you a nice haircut while you lean on me? That can soothe you also” Selena suggested as they walked out of the car, hoping that he would give her a positive response with a smile laced at the corner of her face. The man stared into space for a while before he nodded his head in approval. Maybe it wasn't really bad for the next day's meeting. Now that he thought about it, he wondered if the people he met there three years ago were still the same people that worked there. “Did you meet the people that used to work for my father when you went there?”However, she shook her head. “I was able to get this somehow forged. But while I was still under Cornell, I overheard him telling a friend that he made sure to send your father's employees to jail because they defyed him.”“The only people you may see are those that are scared to talk against him and the people that he employed directly, sir” “Get ready, you will come with me t

“Take your hands off me, you idiot!” The man screamed out in excruciating pain! However, Reed tightened his hands again, causing no space! On seeing that Reed had probably gotten stronger since he must have learnt a lot of skills after going to jail, he swallowed his pride and closed his eyes. “I'm sorry.. let me go!” He managed to say while Selena looked at her boss. Judging from the cold look laced on his face, it did not seem like he would let him go anytime soon. “I'm not the right person to beg!” Reed replied sharply, not letting go of his hands while the man screamed out. At this rate, he was definitely sure that his hands would either break or he would never be able to use it again. “What… Ah!” The man yelled again. To the other people, it seemed as though he held his hand like a layman. Why then was he screaming like a fool? Was that… a look of fear on the oldie's face? They all thought in bewilderment. Back in the days, the oldie used to tell a lot of stories of how he us

  • Chapter 53 - Floral spa

Floral spa! Those words were on Reed's lips as he stared at the place Selena had brought him to.It seemed local just like the one provided for them in jail. Old posters were pasted on the walls of the building that seemed like it was set for demolition. For a while, there was stunned silence while the smile on Selena's face faded. Had her boss perhaps not taken a special liking to this that he wished to turn around and leave? She thought, her mind disoriented. Only then did Reed nod. “Do you like the place, sir?”“I don't have the best response for that” He replied with a blank expression. “Tomorrow, the workers of your father's business shop want to meet you. Actually, not directly because I did not let them know that you would be coming, sir”That again impressed Reed. A while ago, he did not realize that he would be attending a meeting. “And?”Then, Selena flashed a smile as she continued, “You should meet them. Cornell have constantly abused them for a very long time and
