My wife!

When everyone heard the most impossible task on Brian's hands they began to look at one another dumbfoundedly, although they knew that Edward was determined to get rid of Brian they never expected him to be so ruthless by demanding the young man to sell one hundred properties in less than twenty-four hours.

The most property that the company has ever sold was a combined effort among the entire staff to sell sixty-nine properties and it took them three weeks so selling a hundred in a day was an unrealistic goal.

Soon enough news of the challenge spread and everyone was talking about it, Samantha couldn't help but step out of her office.

Although she knew that Edward was deliberately making things difficult for her husband and she didn't like it, she still greeted her sales manager with a forced smile.

"Mr. Edward ain't you being a little impractical? She asked.

"Do you think those numbers are actually……."

"Don't say anything director Samantha" Edward interrupted coldly.

"It was because of the idiot husband that our sales department became the laughing stock of the clair group and even in the entire San Clemente real estate industry! His voice was sharp.

"Therefore I have a responsibility to my team that can't be avoided".

Edward stood up and announced

" By nine o'clock tomorrow morning if your useless husband can't sell a hundred properties he'll be kicked out and you will be dragged along with him of course, in the meantime, feel free to help him out because he's going to need it".

Looking at Edward's malicious smile Brian had the urge to punch him in his smug face, but when he saw his wife's unsteady feet he rushed over to support her.

"Erh are you alright? He asked softly.

Samantha couldn't say a word, she was still in a daze. She had come to the company soon after graduating from college and had worked hard to reach her current position now in the blink of an eye it could all be lost because of the ultimatum given to her husband.

"Have all these years of hard work just gone down the drain?" she said faintly.

If I lose my job over this then how do we support ourselves? Do I have to rely on my useless husband?" she thought.

This joke was quickly becoming not funny at all the more Samantha thought about it the angrier she got and she almost slapped her husband.

"Everything is going wrong all because of you!" she snapped.

"Oh, Samantha, what's wrong, are you angry again?" asked a voice from behind them. When Brian turned and saw the young man who walked in from outside his expression darkened, he was dressed extravagantly even the sunglasses he wore were worth hundreds of dollars.

He was George, a junior executive of the clair group. Over the times he had seen George harass his wife countless times it was a good thing Samantha had some keen observation skills and was able to defend herself.

Every time he tried to pester her she was able to avoid his moves with great ingenuity and rationality.

Regardless, it was annoying and now that he had appeared at this awkward moment Brian had a bad feeling.

"Director Samantha, what's going on?"

George asked in a strange tone

Before Samantha could respond, Edward stepped up and immediately explained the situation, George nodded and agreed but paused thoughtfully before asking.

"But Mr Edward ain't you being a little bit heartless?" especially by involving our lovely director Samantha in your threat?"

George thought about it for a while and concluded, " How about I take care of this little situation for now". He patted Edward.

Immediately George's gaze turned to Samantha as he sized her up suggestively.

"Oh director, you've worked hard to get where you are with the company. I appreciate your hard work. You should understand this even without me saying anything. Just have dinner with me tomorrow evening and we'll talk about it and maybe a way for you to get a promotion as well".

I'm sure it's gonna be cold tomorrow, be sure to bring your stockings", he smiled provocatively.

Samantha bit her lip. She clearly knew what George was suggesting and Brian wasn't stupid either; he naturally understood the meaning behind the junior executive's words.

"Do you think I don't exist?" Brian exclaimed. furiously. He could let a lot of things slide but when it comes to his wife and her dignity? There was no way he could tolerate such an innuendo. Brian clenched his teeth and was about to explode but Samantha stopped him.

"Stop it Brian don't you think you've caused me enough trouble already?" she turned away before anyone could see the embarrassment on her face, she was confused and didn't know what to do.

Glancing at Brian again, George grinned. He leaned over and whispered.

" I might as well tell you, I've taken a fancy to your wife and I plan to sleep with her and someone like you can't stop me because you simply can't compete".

George left with a burst of laughter while Brian kept his head down. He dug his fingernails angrily into the flesh of his palms.

George had completely embarrassed him and trampled all over his dignity. His eyes were filled with tears but he couldn't do anything.

Later that evening though Samantha had left him to find his way home, he stood on the bridge and watched the flow of traffic below, his mind lost in thought. As his thoughts coalesced, his gaze grew colder and more determined.

I wished a miracle would just happen I don't want to lose my wife she's all I've got

If anyone goes after her I will personally send them to hell!!

Deep down he knew he was powerless just as he was thinking his phone rang.

He picked up angrily

"Hello, who is this?" His voice was sharp.

"I want to see you in my house right now Brian it's very Important". "Kueh kueh" he coughed.

It didn't take him too long to recognize the caller. It was the old one" But then how come he sounded so sick I saw him just this morning," he thought to himself and left immediately to see what was going on.

The Beginning of the EndThe first burst of gunfire shattered the uneasy silence inside the observation chamber, echoing through Blackwater Institute with such violence that everyone instinctively turned toward the surveillance screens. Muzzle flashes illuminated the enormous central atrium as dozens of Council soldiers opened fire simultaneously, their disciplined formation collapsing into frantic movement the moment Subject A-1 stepped into view. The barrage was relentless, thousands of rounds striking the creature with enough force to tear apart reinforced concrete behind it, yet when the smoke began to clear, the figure remained standing exactly where it had been.Brian narrowed his eyes. The bullets had landed. There was no question about that. His clothing had been shredded, and several impacts had driven him back half a step, but what emerged from the cloud of dust bore almost no visible injury. Small wounds marked his skin

  • CHAPTER 211

The CouncilNo one spoke after Elias uttered those words because the arrival of armed forces outside Blackwater Institute changed the atmosphere inside the chamber more completely than any revelation that had come before. Until that moment, Brian had believed Victor Graves was the highest authority within Eclipse, the man responsible for every tragedy that had unfolded over the last two decades. Now it was becoming painfully obvious that Victor himself answered to people who had remained invisible for years, people powerful enough to erase entire families, governments, and organizations without ever revealing their names. The security monitor displayed a convoy of black helicopters circling above the mountain while armored vehicles advanced through the shattered entrance that Subject A-1 had torn apart earlier. Their movements were precise, disciplined, and frighteningly efficient. Every squad seemed to know exactly where it was going, as though they h

  • CHAPTER 210

The Night Everything ChangedVictor Graves' final words echoed through the chamber long after he stopped speaking because, although nobody immediately reacted, every person present understood that he had deliberately chosen those words to unsettle Brian. The silence that followed was not the silence of confusion but of anticipation, as though everyone had suddenly been transported back to a night more than twenty years earlier, a night whose consequences were only now beginning to reveal themselves.Brian's eyes remained fixed on Victor while his thoughts raced uncontrollably because he had spent years searching for the truth surrounding the destruction of his family, yet never once had he imagined that the answers might stretch back to the day he entered the world. Everything he had discovered since arriving at Blackwater Institute seemed to point toward the same impossible conclusion. His birth had never been an ordinary event, and every person standing inside the chamber appeared t

  • CHAPTER 209

The Future They ChoseThe words Elias Ward had just spoken settled over the chamber like a storm cloud because although everyone present already understood that Eclipse was dangerous, very few of them had imagined that the organization’s ambitions extended beyond power, wealth, or influence. Those goals were familiar. History was filled with men who sought to dominate others through money and authority. What Elias had described was something far more disturbing because it suggested that Eclipse no longer viewed itself as part of humanity. It viewed itself as humanity's replacement.Brian remained completely still while studying the older man's face because he had spent years learning how to recognize deception, and nothing about Elias suggested he was exaggerating. The sadness in his eyes felt genuine. The regret sounded genuine. More importantly, Victor Graves' reaction was telling its own story. The architect of Eclipse no longer looked irritated. He looked cornered. For a man like

  • CHAPTER 208

The First RebelThe massive reinforced door continued sliding open while every person inside the chamber watched in complete silence because after everything that had happened since entering Blackwater Institute, it had become painfully clear that the man standing beyond that threshold represented something far greater than another hidden enemy or forgotten experiment. The reactions from Ian, Victor Graves, and even Brian's mother had already revealed more than words ever could, and the growing tension throughout the facility suggested that the arrival of this mysterious figure threatened foundations that had existed for decades.Brian remained completely still as his eyes stayed fixed on the widening gap because although countless questions were racing through his mind, one stood above all the others. For years he had been chasing fragments of the truth surrounding his family, and every answer seemed to lead him deeper into a maze of secrets connected to Eclipse. Now another piece of

  • CHAPTER 207

The Man Who Should Have Been DeadThe silence that followed those words seemed to stretch endlessly throughout the chamber because nobody present could fully understand why a single voice had produced such a dramatic reaction. Brian had spent years facing dangerous enemies, powerful families, and ruthless criminals, yet he had never seen Victor Graves look the way he looked now. The architect of Eclipse remained frozen before the observation glass while every trace of confidence slowly drained from his expression, and for the first time since revealing himself, he appeared less like the mastermind behind a global conspiracy and more like a man confronting a ghost from his past. The facility speakers remained active, but the mysterious voice said nothing further as though deliberately allowing the tension to grow. Whoever stood outside the chamber understood exactly what effect his arrival was having, and the patience behind that silence suggested a level of confidence that immediately
