Chapter two The emergency

Mason Parker raced with his car to the hospital to meet his wife who had called him some minutes earlier.

He was uncertain of the reason for the call but it was clearly obvious that it was very urgent from the sound of her voice.

'what could have happened now? '

He thought to himself, unable to find a logical explanation to what was happening.

'Could she have been in a terrible accident or someone related to them? '

He sped into the hospital building and he saw his wife already waiting for him.

He was somewhat relieved she was fine but he still worried since he still did not know the problem..

Reaching her he greeted her with a puzzled yet worried expression

"Tanya, what's happening? " he asked.

Tanya his wife was almost at the verge of tearing up again and he could see from her swollen face and bags on her eyes that she had been crying.

"it's my grand mom, she collapsed this afternoon " she said.

"How is she now? "Mason attempted reaching out to her with his left hand for a comforting hug but she slapped his hand off her immediately with a hateful glare.

"don't even!... " she rebuked him with a sharp tone

Mason backed off, knowing she was angry at him, she had always been angry with him and that has not changed.

"don't think that you have the right to play good husband now, you're only here cause the family asked for you. You have long been so useless to me and the rest of the family" she added bitterly

AndMason just swallowed it all up as always as he stood there, not wanting to create a scene in front of the hospital.

She shoved a bag of fruits towards him to hold

"hold this, we are going to see my grand mother. The rest of the family are already with her, don't say anything "

She did not wait for her reply but walked into the hospital and Mason did not object, he followed after her with the bag of fruit.

Tanya Parker,the wife of Mason Parker has always been the bread winner of the family.

She worked for her father and took care of the family from her father's wealth.

Mason did not work and had no means of supporting the family as the husband and head of the family, but relied on Tanya.

It is what makes Tanya always angry with him, she loved him but to her and the rest of her family, he was useless.

He had become the meager and worthless fellow in her prestigious family and he was dragging her reputation down with him and she did not like it.

Mason has yet to disclose the reason why he had refused to work and provide for his family like he should.

Mason had gotten married to Tanya three years ago, just after his parents died.

Despite him being more with no good standing and reputation in his family and the society, she had agreed to marry him.

She did not marry him because she loved him so much or had any interest in him but she did so to please her father.

Tanya's father had arranged her marriage to Mason because of the debt he owed the Tenshi family.

Many years ago, Mason’s father saved Tanya's fathers live and he swore that he will give his daughter to his saviour's son to repay the debt.

Mason and Tanya entered the room Tanya's grand mother is and the room already had some visitors In it, much to Mason surprise.

Mason’s family members were there, as well as some people from Tanya's side of the family.

But most notable was a handsome young man whom seem to be the eye candy of the room, other than the bedridden Tanya's grand MA.

Mason could tell he was rich and had a lot of respect from both sides of the family.

The moment they walked in, he was all over Tanya expressing his heartfelt show of sympathy to Tanya.

The man did not once even care to glance at Mason not more greet or even talk to him.

"you don't have to worry Tanya, I have made arrangements for the best doctor already, he's on his way as we speak. "

The man conversed with Tanya

"I just want her to be fine again, " Tanya said as she sighed weakly.

"and she will be, doctor Raymond is the best doctor money can buy. " he said

"Thanks so much Derick. I really appreciate it "

Tanya said

The man, now known as Derick held Tanya's hand and squeezed softly to comfort her.

Tanya soon went to see her grand ma and as well extend are greetings to everyone else, leaving Derick and Mason.

"there's really no need for someone as useless as yourself to be here,Mason " Derick said calmly to Mason

"I'm her husband Derick,"Mason replied.

"oh really, husband that doesn't do shit! You should do me a favour and just get out of Tanya's life. You're so worthless "

Derick added.

"you really are a dick Derick "

Mason said slightly irked but he couldn't do anything

Derick laughed before talking in a complacent manner "I'm a thousand times more than you can ever be Mason "

Mason was beginning to get stares from everyone in the room since they could hear his conversation with Derick and everyone agreed with Derick.

" you should just go home Mason, a more capable man already has the situation under control"

Someone added, stepping out of the background to join the conversation and it was Tanya's brother.

Tanya's brother was younger than Mason but he had a large frame that easily made it look like he was older.

Tanya's brother , along with everyone else but Tanya's father , had disproved of Tanya's marriage with Mason. Since the man had nothing to offer.

"Mr Derick, thank you so much for your help today " Tanya's brother shook Derick's hand.

"oh no, it's fine. Tanya is like family. "

Derick smiled reciprocating the gesture.

Derick had made several advances at Tanya but she had always turned him down.

He had been certain he would be the man to marry Tanya three years ago, but Tanya's dad gave her to Mason instead .

"I've always known you'll be the better man for my sister, she should divorce this filthy already and marry you. " Tanya's brother added as he spoke with Derick.

Mason sighed not knowing what to say nor how to respond, he just walked ahead, following Tanya to see the bedridden woman.

He felt the scornful and hateful eyes on him but he managed to make it to Tanya who was comforting her grandma.

"how is she feeling now? "Mason asked Tanya out of concern for his in law.

Rather than an answer to his question, he recieved a glare from Tanya, reminding him that she had asked him to remain silent throughout the visit.

Mason sighed again and turned his gaze away from his wife and then back to the bedridden woman.

He analyzed her condition as best as he could ,and with his experience and knowledge he clearly could ascertain what the old lady is suffering from.

The door to the room opened and it drew everyone's attention for them to see who has entered.

"ah finally , the doctor is here " Derick said.
