“Fuck you!”

Without warning, the man swung his fist straight at Andrew Allen’s face.

“Ah!”

The young woman screamed and covered her eyes, too frightened to watch what happened next.

Andrew merely smiled.

To him, the man’s punch was slower than a crawling snail.

He casually raised one hand. His movement was swift and precise, his fingers closing around the man’s wrist like an eagle’s talons and locking it in place like an iron clamp.

Then Andrew twisted.

With a sharp crack, the man’s wrist was dislocated. Andrew pulled and turned in the same motion, using such overwhelming force that the man’s feet left the ground. His body spun through the air before crashing heavily onto the floor.

“He hit him!”

Someone in the crowd cried out in disbelief.

What Andrew had done was simply too shocking. He had lifted and thrown a man weighing well over a hundred pounds with one hand, dropping him as if he weighed nothing.

Was this guy some kind of hidden martial arts master?

Things like that only happened in action movies.

Yet Andrew’s expression had not changed in the slightest, making the scene even more astonishing.

By then, a train attendant had received word of the disturbance. After struggling through the packed carriage, he finally forced his way into the crowd.

“What happened here?”

The attendant was a tall, imposing man with a commanding presence that rivaled Andrew’s. The moment he saw the scene, his gaze settled on Andrew.

“Self-defense. He deserved it.”

Andrew explained everything in six calm words.

With one glance, he could tell the attendant had received combat training as well.

Afraid Andrew would be misunderstood, the young woman hurriedly recounted everything that had happened.

The attendant listened in silence. Then he raised his radio and reported the situation before saying, “The train will arrive at the station shortly. All of you will need to cooperate with an investigation once we get there.”

Only then did he crouch down to examine the injured man.

Andrew shrugged as if none of it mattered. He turned to the young woman.

“Come on. I’ll take you back so you can pack your things.”

“O-Okay. Thank you.”

She nodded and wiped away her tears. Then she allowed Andrew to take her hand and lead her back toward their berths.

A ridiculous scene followed.

The moment Andrew took a step forward, the passengers crowding the aisle immediately moved aside, clearing a path for him.

When they returned, Mr. Hanks and Rabara quickly asked what had happened. The crowd had been too thick for them to see the entire incident.

“It was nothing. Just two extortionists who picked the wrong target. I dealt with them.”

Andrew dropped onto his berth as though he were talking about something completely insignificant.

Mr. Hanks sighed.

“You two should still be careful. People like that usually have accomplices.”

“Understood. Thanks for the warning.”

Andrew nodded noncommittally and began packing his belongings.

He had not brought much with him to Riverside City. Everything he owned fit inside one large woven plastic sack.

About twenty minutes later, the train pulled into Riverside East Station.

Under the guidance of a female attendant, Andrew and the young woman left the train and headed toward the station’s police office.

A male and a female officer were already waiting inside. The middle-aged couple was there as well, giving their statements.

The moment the injured man saw Andrew enter, his body trembled involuntarily. He immediately lowered his head, not daring to look at him.

The female officer noticed his reaction and frowned.

She turned toward Andrew, who looked like a Hippie with his messy hair and shabby clothes.

“You. Go squat in the corner and don’t move.”

Andrew froze.

“Why?”

“You injured someone. You should be grateful I haven’t put you in handcuffs. Stop asking questions.”

Her impatient tone immediately irritated him.

Andrew was about to lose his temper, but after thinking it over, he decided not to argue with a woman.

He walked to the corner and squatted down, his legs spread loosely in the posture of a street thug.

The young woman received better treatment. The male officer gave her a plastic stool and asked her to wait.

“Squat properly. Put your hands behind your head!”

For some reason, the female officer seemed to have taken an immediate dislike to Andrew. The moment she saw his posture, she snapped at him again.

“What the hell?” Andrew finally exploded. “I acted in self-defense and stopped a crime. Why are you treating me like the criminal?”

This woman had targeted him repeatedly without any justification. He could no longer tolerate it.

Bang!

A palm slammed down on the desk, startling everyone in the room.

The female officer rose from her chair and strode toward Andrew aggressively.

“Whether you were acting heroically is not for you to decide. Until the investigation is complete, the fact remains that you injured someone. That means you did something wrong.”

Andrew looked up at her from close range.

She had sharp, heroic eyebrows, a small upturned nose, and soft pink lips. Her features were so delicate and flawless that they looked sculpted.

Fine.

He would endure it.

A real man did not argue with a beautiful woman. At least, that was Andrew’s philosophy.

“Hmph.”

When the female officer noticed the way he was staring at her, she snorted and returned to the desk to begin questioning the others.

The couple immediately launched into a dramatic complaint. They claimed they had caught a thief, only to be assaulted by the thief’s accomplice. They twisted every detail to make themselves sound like innocent victims.

Before long, their statements were complete.

It was Andrew and the young woman’s turn.

“Tell us exactly what happened,” the male officer said gently to the young woman.

“I didn’t steal their wallet. They slipped it into my pocket and then falsely accused me. Thankfully, Andrew stepped in and saved me.”

She repeated the explanation Andrew had taught her on the train.

Andrew nodded approvingly before adding, “You can test the wallet for fingerprints if you don’t believe us.”

“Be quiet. No one asked you to speak!”

The female officer suddenly snapped at him again.

Andrew’s expression darkened.

“Aren’t you taking this too far? People have the right to speak. What exactly are you trying to do?”

He was still holding back, but only barely.

The female officer glared at him, then turned toward the male officer.

“Senior, there’s no need to question him any further. He’s obviously her accomplice. Take him back to the precinct.”

The couple immediately looked delighted. They stared at Andrew with smug, mocking expressions.

“Crazy bitch. How did someone with a personality like that ever become a cop?” Andrew muttered under his breath.

Unfortunately for him, the female officer heard every word.

She drew her service pistol in an instant and pointed it directly at his face.

“Do you know what crime you’ve committed by insulting a police officer?” she asked coldly.

“What crime?”

Andrew stared calmly into the dark barrel of the gun.

“Everyone who pointed a gun at me in the past ended up dead.”

The female officer laughed coldly.

“Ridiculous.”

She clearly thought she had just heard the most absurd joke imaginable.

Then Andrew moved.

No one in the room had time to react.

Like a hunting leopard, he shot forward with terrifying speed. One hand clamped around the female officer’s gun wrist. He twisted it aside with brute force, turning the weapon until the barrel pressed against her own forehead.

At the same time, his other hand forced her down against the desk.

The moment the woman stepped inside, she noticed a strange man in the house. More importantly, there was something about him that immediately rubbed her the wrong way, and her expression turned guarded.“Who are you?”“He’s my brother-in-law’s old army buddy. His name is Andrew Allen,” Joan Hunt answered with a smile before Andrew even had the chance to speak.“Hmph.”The woman gave a cold snort and slowly sat down on the sofa. There was an aloof, elegant air about her, like a wealthy society wife who was used to looking down on others. Unfortunately, the bits of grass and weeds still clinging to her clothes completely ruined the effect.Andrew hated being looked at with that kind of disdain. But the moment he remembered how flustered she had looked earlier, he couldn’t help smiling to himself.“Why are you smiling?” Joan noticed it immediately. She had to admit that Andrew actually looked rather handsome when he smiled. “Did you think of something funny? Come on, share it with us.”A
