Maria stepped into the hallway with the confidence of someone accustomed to command, her voice cutting through the chaos like a blade. "Put down the elderly woman. Now."

The lead nurse looked up from the wheelchair she was pushing, her face twisted with arrogant disdain. "And who exactly do you think you are to give us orders?"

"Someone who won't ask twice," Maria replied coolly.

The nurse laughed harshly, gesturing to her colleagues to continue moving. "Listen here, sweetheart. We don't care if you're this loser's latest girlfriend. We have direct orders from Sofia Georgiou, a board member of this hospital who owns ten percent of the shares. This old hag is being evicted, and there's nothing you can do about it."

At least I ended up in the same hospital as Grandma, Andrea thought with grim relief, watching his grandmother's confused and frightened face. If Maria had taken me anywhere else, I might never have found her in time.

Maria's expression didn't change, but something dangerous flickered in her eyes. "I said put her down."

"Or what?" the nurse sneered. "You'll call your boyfriend's lawyer? Maybe write a strongly worded complaint?"

Maria raised her hand slightly, and suddenly the hallway filled with men in black suits. They moved with military precision, appearing from stairwells and elevators as if they had been waiting for her signal.

"Secure the medical staff," Maria commanded quietly.

The bodyguards moved instantly, each nurse finding themselves restrained by professional hands before they could even cry out. The wheelchair stopped moving as the lead nurse's eyes widened in shock.

"What the hell—let go of me!" she struggled against the iron grip holding her. "You can't do this! This is assault!"

Andrea rushed to his grandmother's side, his heart breaking at her pale, confused face. "Grandma, are you alright? Did they hurt you?"

"Andrea, dear," his grandmother whispered weakly, "I don't understand what's happening. They said I had to leave immediately, that no one was paying for my care anymore."

She looks so frail, he thought desperately. How could they treat her so roughly? She weighs barely ninety pounds.

Maria approached, her gaze softening as she looked at the elderly woman. "Ma'am, you're not going anywhere. These people made a mistake."

She turned back to the terrified nurses, her voice becoming arctic. "I want this woman treated immediately. Get the best doctors, the best equipment, whatever she needs."

"We... we can't," the lead nurse stammered, though her earlier arrogance had completely evaporated. "Sofia Georgiou gave direct orders. She's a board member here, she owns ten percent of the hospital shares. We have to follow her commands or we'll lose our jobs."

Maria pulled out her phone, her fingers moving with lightning speed. "Then it's time for a change in ownership."

"What are you doing?" Andrea asked, still supporting his grandmother.

"Buying this hospital," Maria replied matter-of-factly, as if she were ordering coffee.

The nurses stared at her in shock. Even Andrea felt his jaw drop. Buy the entire hospital? Just like that? Who is this woman?

"Done," Maria said, sliding her phone back into her pocket. She turned to Andrea with a small smile. "As the heir of the Konstantinou family, would you like me to proceed with the acquisition?"

Heir? Konstantinou family? Andrea's mind reeled. What is she talking about? I don't understand any of this.

The hallway had fallen completely silent. Every staff member, every patient who had been watching the drama, stood frozen in disbelief. They all knew Andrea—Sofia Georgiou's pathetic husband, the man who lived off his wife's money and gave blood like a trained pet.

"You're joking," one of the younger nurses whispered. "He's just... he's just Sofia's house husband. Everyone knows that."

Maria's smile turned sharp. "Andrea, the choice is yours. Should we complete the purchase?"

Andrea looked down at his grandmother's worried face, then at the nurses who had been so cruel to her, then at Maria's expectant expression. I don't know what's happening, but if it means Grandma gets the care she needs...

He took a deep breath and straightened his shoulders. "Yes. Buy the hospital."

"What a load of—" a new voice interrupted, dripping with condescension.

Theodore Dimitris , the hospital director, strode down the hallway with his usual swagger. His expensive suit and arrogant smirk were as familiar to Andrea as they were infuriating.

"Well, well, if it isn't Andrea," Theodore said, looking him up and down with obvious disgust. "Still pretending to be important, I see. And now you've brought your latest piece of entertainment to play pretend with you."

He always talks to me like I'm dirt, Andrea thought, remembering countless humiliating encounters with this man. Every time I've come here with Grandma, he's made sure I know my place.

Theodore turned to Maria with a patronizing smile. "Miss, I don't know what this man has told you, but he's nothing more than a kept man. Sofia Georgiou's boy toy. Whatever game you're playing here needs to stop before you embarrass yourself further."

Maria's eyes narrowed dangerously. "The Konstantinou family doesn't play games, Mr. Dimitris."

Theodore burst into laughter. "The Konstantinou family? Oh, that's rich! You expect me to believe that this worthless leech is connected to the Konstantinou family? The same family that owns half the medical facilities in the country?"

"We'll see how worthless he is," Maria said coldly, pulling out her phone again.

"Please," Theodore continued mockingly, "even if you were connected to the Konstantinou family—which you're clearly not—you think you can just walk in here and buy a hospital? This isn't a convenience store, sweetheart."

The Konstantinou family... why does that name sound familiar? Andrea wondered, watching the exchange with growing confusion.

Maria dialed a number, her voice becoming crisp and professional. "Mr. Loannis? Yes, it's Maria. I need you at Mercy General Hospital immediately. Yes, the acquisition we discussed. No, right now."

Theodore was still chuckling, shaking his head at what he saw as an elaborate bluff. "This is pathetic, even for you, Andrea. Hiring some actress to—"

The elevator doors opened with a soft ding, and Theodore's words died in his throat. An elderly man in an impeccably tailored suit stepped out, his silver hair perfectly groomed and his face wearing the practiced smile of someone used to wielding enormous influence.

"Finally," Theodore said, his relief evident. "Mr. Loannis, thank goodness you're here. These people are causing a disturbance, claiming they can buy the hospital. I need you to have security remove them immediately."

But instead of approaching Theodore, the chairman walked directly past him, his eyes fixed on Maria with unmistakable deference. He stopped in front of her and bowed slightly, his voice respectful and warm.

"Miss Konstantinou, what a pleasure to see you again. I came as soon as I received your call. How may I assist the family today?"

No symbolism. Just blood and history.“You taught me something valuable,” Sophia said. “Never sign anything without understanding the exit.”Her mother’s eyes narrowed slightly.Sophia lifted the folder.“You made me co-sign a contingency eight years ago. Yes.” She nodded slowly. “But you underestimated something.”“And what is that?” her mother asked.Sophia reached into her coat and pulled out her own document — thinner, newer.“A revision.”Andrea watched quietly from the shadows, saying nothing.“Three years ago,” Sophia continued, “when I refinanced the company and restructured debt, I triggered a clause you forgo

By 2:17 a.m., the warehouse in the industrial district was surrounded — not loudly, not officially. No sirens. No marked vehicles.Just shadows moving with purpose.Inside, the lights were on.That was the first surprise. The second? It wasn’t empty.Rows of monitors lined the interior walls. Live feeds. Traffic grids. Financial dashboards. Security overlays. And in the center of it all—Her.Sophia’s mother stood calmly beside a steel table, hands resting lightly on its surface, as if she had been expecting guests.Andrea stepped inside slowly. The air between them was thick, but neither flinched.“You could’ve sent an invitation,” she said smoothly.Andrea’s gaze swept the room once before settling on her. “You wanted escalation.”A faint smile curved her lips. “And here you are.”His men moved quietly, securing exits, disabling equipment.“You’re bolder than I expected,” she observed.“And you’re theatrical,” he replied. “You left breadcrumbs.”She tilted her head slightly. “Or per

  • Chapter 354

Two days after the roadside incident, Sophia received a call from Elena — her executive assistant of five years. Elena’s voice was shaking. “I’m so sorry, Ms. Sophia… I didn’t know who else to call.” Sophia immediately straightened. “What happened?” “It’s my brother. Someone contacted me. They said they have evidence linking him to financial fraud. They’re threatening to submit it to authorities unless I… cooperate.” Sophia’s eyes darkened. “Cooperate how?” “They want internal access reports. Board voting schedules. Investor strategy drafts. They said it’s just temporary. That no one will get hurt.” Sophia went silent. This was cleaner. Smarter. Her mother wasn’t attacking structures anymore. She was attacking people. “Did they show proof?” Sophia asked calmly. “Yes… documents. Screenshots. It looks real.” Sophia closed her eyes briefly. Fabricated leverage. Emotional pressure. Classic. “Listen to me carefully,” Sophia said. “Do not send anything. Do not respond. For

The next strike didn’t come through headlines. It came through silence. Three days after the market scare, one of Sophia’s largest overseas contracts was suddenly “under review.” No explanation. No formal accusation. Just delay after delay. Payments froze. Shipments stalled at port. Licensing approvals disappeared into bureaucratic limbo. It was suffocation — slow and methodical. Sophia stood in the logistics control room staring at the stalled shipping map. Red warning indicators blinked across three countries. “This isn’t random,” she said quietly. Her operations director nodded. “Customs inspections were ordered simultaneously. Different jurisdictions. Same timing.” Coordinated. Someone with reach. Someone patient. Sophia exhaled slowly. “She’s not attacking the surface anymore. She’s cutting oxygen.” Meanwhile, across the city, her mother wasn’t in a luxury lounge this time. She was in a modest office — temporary, discreet, untraceable. A war room disguised as nothin

Andrea was in the middle of a board meeting when his assistant entered quietly, her expression unusually tense. “Sir… there’s a woman here to see you. She refused to give a full explanation. She said you would recognize her.” Andrea didn’t look up at first. “Schedule her properly.” “She insists it can’t wait.” Something in the assistant’s tone made him pause. “Name?” A brief hesitation. “She said… you already know who she is.” Andrea’s pen stilled. He dismissed the board with a calm nod. “We’ll continue this later.” Minutes later, the office doors opened. And there she stood. Seven years had aged her, but not weakened her. If anything, prison had carved her sharper. Her posture was composed, her eyes cold and assessing. Andrea rose slowly from behind his desk. He didn’t hide his surprise. “I wasn’t expecting you to walk into my building unannounced,” he said calmly. She smiled faintly. “You’ve always enjoyed control, Andrea. I thought I’d give you something unpredictabl

  • Chapter 351

Seven years had passed since Sophia last saw her mother. Seven years of rebuilding a company that had been left in ruins, seven years of struggling to reclaim what should have been hers, and seven years of carefully avoiding the shadow of the woman who had destroyed everything. But now, her mother was free. Sophia had heard the news weeks ago, though she hadn’t sought her out. Part of her feared the encounter, but another part—a sharper, fiercer part—burned with determination. She couldn’t just rebuild the company and ignore the source of all her pain. She had to see her mother. The investigation had been painstaking. Sophia traced old contacts, followed the faintest whispers, and pulled on threads no one else had noticed. Each lead was a gamble. Each step brought her closer—and now, after months of searching, she finally stood outside a secluded estate perched on a cliff, the waves crashing below like a warning. She stepped into the driveway quietly, heart pounding, mind calculati
