CHAPTER 71 PART 2

Three days of hard travel brought Marco and Lily to the edge of the Sea of Flames. The temperature had been climbing steadily, but nothing prepared Marco for the wall of heat that hit him when they crested the final ridge.

Below stretched a hellscape. Rivers of lava flowed between obsidian rocks. Volcanic vents spewed ash and smoke into a perpetually red sky. The air itself seemed to shimmer with heat distortion, and even breathing felt like inhaling from a furnace.

"Lovely vacation spot," Marc

Marco rolled aside as another devastating blow cratered the floor. His mind raced, analyzing the situation. Benjamin's power output was absurd, easily comparable to Third Transition despite being a spectral construct. The Heavenly God Descent multiplied everything by three, and Madness doubled his attack power on top of that. But there had to be a weakness. Every skill had limitations."You're using too many skills at once," Marco called out, putting distance between them. "The energy cost must be massive!""Perceptive!" Benjamin's laughter was manic. "But I'm a soul construct! I don't tire like you flesh-and-blood weaklings! I can maintain this state indefinitely!"Marco's eyes narrowed. Benjamin was lying. The slight flicker in his blood flames, the minor inconsistency in his massive form's edges, these were signs of strain."Lily was right about you," Marco said, his voice carrying across the chamber. "You're not a guardian anymore. You're just a bitter ghost clinging to power you

Marco stood before the altar, his chest heaving from exhaustion. The Blood Holy Sword rested on crimson velvet, its blade pulsing with hungry anticipation. But before he could reach for it, a familiar presence materialized between him and his goal.Benjamin, wreathed in blood flames that burned brighter than ever before."Congratulations, boy," the Blood Lord said, his spectral form more solid than it had been in the previous chambers. "You've exceeded every expectation. Defeated challenges designed for warriors twice your strength. Integrated divine blood that should have killed you. Impressed even the corrupted Golden Guards."Marco's hand tightened on his greatsword. "Then step aside and let me claim what I've earned.""Earned?" Benjamin's laughter was harsh. "You've earned the right to face me. The final guardian. The true test." He gestured, and the Blood Holy Sword flew from the altar into his waiting hand. "This blade has been mine for nine centuries. You think I'll surrender i

"And he's still holding back his bloodline powers," the first noted grimly. "We haven't seen Lion King's Descent yet.""Should we push him harder?" the fourth asked."Absolutely," the second replied.Golden energy erupted from all four guards simultaneously. Their bloodline powers activated, transforming them from skilled constructs into genuine threats. Their speed doubled, their strength tripled, and their coordination became absolutely perfect.Marco found himself genuinely pressed for the first time. Defending against four opponents whose power had just multiplied was like trying to hold back a flood with his bare hands."Come on, boy!" the first guard taunted, its blade scraping against Marco's in a shower of sparks. "Where's that legendary Lionheart power?""You want it?" Marco's eyes blazed golden. "Fine!"Lion King's Descent activated in full, and the chamber filled with overwhelming pressure. Marco's muscles swelled, his speed increased exponentially, and his strength reached

The four Golden Guards stood frozen in their starting positions, their metallic forms gleaming in the chamber's light. The first guard's weapon slowly lowered as it processed what had just happened."Wait," it said, its voice carrying genuine confusion. "That was too easy. We barely engaged.""Agreed," the second guard added, straightening from its defensive stance. "He parried us, yes, but we weren't using our full capabilities."Marco looked between them, suddenly wary. "I thought we agreed on one exchange?""We did," the third guard confirmed. "One exchange where we give our best shot. But that wasn't our best." Its golden eyes gleamed with renewed interest. "That was us testing you at suppressed First Transition output.""You held back?" Marco's grip tightened on his sword."Of course we held back!" the fourth guard's laughter rang like struck bells. "You're Level 12! We're millennia-old constructs! If we hit you with full power immediately, you'd be paste on the floor!"The first

Marco flexed his hands, golden-radiant energy flickering across his skin. "Different. Stronger. Like I could punch through a mountain.""That's the divine blood talking," the third guard said. "It enhances everything. Your strength, speed, perception, even your intuition.""Show us," the fourth demanded. "Channel your Fighting Spirit. Let's see what you're working with."Marco concentrated, pulling power from his core and letting it manifest as visible energy around his body. Golden light blazed, tinged with crimson from the War God's essence. The pressure it created made the golden chamber's air shimmer. The guards exchanged glances."That's..." the first began."Impossible," the second finished."What?"The third guard circled Marco, examining the energy output from different angles. "Your Fighting Spirit reserves and control are at mid-level Second Transition minimum. You shouldn't be capable of this at Level 12.""The bloodline integration did more than we anticipated," the fourth

Pain beyond comprehension tore through Marco's body as the War God's divine blood invaded his cells. The twenty-meter blades had dissolved into pure essence, flooding his meridians with power that felt like liquid fire. His Lionheart bloodline reacted violently, golden energy surging to repel the foreign invader. The two powers collided inside Marco's chest, creating pressure that threatened to explode his ribcage from within."Stop fighting it!" the War God's echo commanded. "Accept the integration or it will destroy you!""Can't," Marco gasped, his back arching as another wave of agony crashed through him. "The Lionheart blood won't let it in."Deep in his consciousness, the Lionheart Divine Beast roared in fury. "This divine essence threatens my descendant! I will purge it!""You'll kill him in the process!" the War God's presence countered. "Your bloodline is powerful but incomplete. My essence fills the gaps, completes what was always meant to be whole!"The beast's golden eyes b
