Chapter 54 – The Seal Shattered

Light consumed everything. Adrian tumbled through the abyss as the crystalline chamber disintegrated around him. Fragments of the avatar, still shaped like his own face, swirled past in the torrent.

Each shard pulsed with residual energy, sparks of fractured memory clawing at his mind. His lungs burned. His vision blurred. He tried to scream, but the sound was swallowed in the implosion’s roar.

Then sudden silence. He struck solid ground with bone jarring force.

Gasping, he pushed himself upright. He was no longer inside the crystalline chamber. Instead, he stood in a cavernous subspace beneath the device’s heart. The walls were jagged black crystal, veined with molten orange light that pulsed like veins of lava.

The ground trembled under each beat, and in the center of the cavern floated a massive sphere of fused crystal and machinery.

It spun slowly, glowing brighter with each rotation. Symbols etched across its surface shifted like living script.
