Alex grabbed the ward coat wrapped around his cozy armchair. He slid it on and was about to reach for his stethoscope on the table when his phone began to ring.

He picked up the phone and his brows went up because he wasn’t looking forward to such a call. It was the second time he was getting a call from Dianna Lampton.

“Hello!” He responded firmly and finally reached for his stethoscope.

“I trust you’re doing fine, Doc.” She said.

“Yeah.” He nodded and moved to the door, wondering why she called this time.

“Can I see you today?”

Taken aback by the question, Alex remained transfixed to his spot.

“Just for a couple of minutes,” Dianna emphasized.

He quickly ran his free hand through his hair and kept the phone glued to his ear. “Okay. But I’m at the hospital at the moment. I’m about to go check on a patient.

“Okay..” she slurred and he felt she was throwing the ball in his court.

“How about you come pick me up at work?”
