Chapter5: countdown

"Roar!" The Alpha wolf barked an order to the remaining wolves to follow it as it took the charge to attack Arden and the girls.

Micrio and Althev showed no signs of interfering, to them, it was a great chance for the princess to hone her skills.

The moment in the alpha arrived, It hopped towards Arden with maximum speed, it's claws tearing into the air as it rushed towards his face. To it, Arden was most likely the weakest among the group.

At the same time, the other two wolves attacked him from different angles. One beared its teeth as it aimed to gnaw on his backneck while the other wolf reached for Arden right shoulder.

Evnor and Noiter where preocupied with other wolves and were unable to assist him.

The beseech of the wolves left Arden with nowhere to evade. Anybody would have been sent into panic in such a situation but on the contrary, Ardens eyes had no hint of fear.

A sly look appeared in his eyes as he focused his attention on the Alpha male, watching its movements carefully. To him, the other wolves where clearly not much of a threat.

He waited for the right moment when the wolves reached a close proximity to him where he could make physical contact, and then he struck.

by slashing the lazonion swift blade in a 180 degrees,, he delivered a fierce blow to two wolves, one biting towards his neck and the other towards his right hand which held his weapon.

As the blade slashed, it cleaved through the wolves teeth drawing a pained cry out of them as they plummeted to the ground.

As this action was being carried out, Arden kicked up and smash the top of his foot unto the lower jaw of the male Alpha sending it sprawling to the ground.

Shortly after, the male Alpha wolf reached the ground, Arden quickly reset his standing before slashing towards it's neck.

Aden's plan was to act quickly and finish it off with this slash before it regains its balance but the ferocious Alpha wolf is not to be underestimated. It quickly reacted by bringing it's claws to block the blade before it reached its neck.

"clang!"

A metalic sound resounded as the blade clashed with the male Alpha's claws.

Just as they clashed, blood rushed out from the wolf's nail because it was narrowly penetrated by the blade's sharpness regardless of the fact that it managed to intercept the slash.

After taken notice of the blood sprinting out of it's claws as a result of the blade narrowly cleaving into it, Arden let out a loud growl and applied more foce on his blade, pushing it to slice through the wolf's claw and towards the wolf's neck with all his strength.

The male Alpha sensed the danger as the swift lazonion blade cut deeper into it's nail and started to struggle against it frantically however, despite its struggles, it was already at it's wits end because Arden would definitely not give it any chance to survive.

"Die!" With a loud shout from Arden, the lazonion swift blade cleaved the Alpha male's claws and slid into it's neck, slaughtering it in the process.

After the blade slid into its neck, the male Alpha only groaned on the floor, making a breathless struggle to retain its existence.

As for Arden, he had already retreated his blade and was now gazing coldly at the remaining two wolves as if daring them to attack.

The two wolves hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But when they saw that their leader had been defeated, they turned and fled.

The surviving wolves on Evnor and Noiter's side of the battle, also fled without hesitation.

Arden watched them go, feeling a sense of relief wash over him.

After they disappeared from the vicinity, he slumped his back on a tree to rest.

Back when the male Alpha wolf struggled in frenzy, it dealt quite a damage to him as it's hind limbs scrambled his lower abdomen with it's claws.

"let's camp here and recover for a while before we set out once again" Micro said as if noticing Arden's plight.

Evnor and Noiter both nodded and acted without question, despite their identities, they seemed to be very obedient to Micro.

Sitting his back on a tree, Arden mulled over his current circumstance "Continuing the journey now would be dangerous for me in my condition, but with a little rest, my body should automatically heal"

" though i still have twenty kilometers to cover before I reach the beacon, luckily, I've only exhausted ten hours so far, out of twenty four hours, I should be able to squeeze out a little time to rest."

He took a few moments to catch his breath, and waited for his injuries to recover but in the midst of doing this, Arden accidentally fell asleep.

As his injuries recovered, Arden felt a comfortable feeling all over his body. This overwhelming peace put him to sleep without him knowing.

"Wake up you lazy peasant, we've wasted so much time wating for you to heal!" Noiter's annoying voice suddenly rang beside Arden, waking him up from sleep.

When he woke up, all of Arden's injuries had disappeared but there wasn't a look of joy on his face. He didn't even look at the annoying girl, Noiter, who rudely woke him up from sleep.

This was because he realised that his environment had become gloomy. It was unknown for how long he had slept but the shadow of the night had long been cast over the world.

"Oh shit, why do I have to fucking sleep for so long!" Arden cursed as he jolted up and started running towards the beacon without care for anything.

"wait up, why are you in such a rush, aren't you aware of how dangerous this jungle is!" Evnor shouted out to him but Arden had no mind to care about anything.

"Let's go!" Micrio remarked and sprinted after Arden, at that point, it didn't really matter how slow or fast the proceed was because, Arden's reckless charge must have already alarmed a lot of beasts nearby. The best thing to do was to take the initiative and reach the mystical light as soon a possible.

"ok!" Evnor answered solemnly as she sprang

"That fool!" Noiter gritted her teeth and followed.

Since Arden didn't even know exactly for how long he had slept, he wasn't able to determine the exact time left for him to complete the mission, the only solution he thought of was to sprint forth and reach the beacon as soon as possible.

As he ran, Arden covered incredible distance in little time however, the commotion caused by his sprinting alerted the local beasts in his surrounding.

Because of this, Arden didn't even run too far before the roaring of beasts plugged his ears.

Arden's heart raced as he sprinted through the forest. He knew that he had to make it to the beacon before his time limit expired, but the thought of the beasts closing in on him made him feel uneasy but he couldn't afford to stop until he reached his destination.

Evnor, her guards and her maid all followed him from behind, running at a speed not slower than him in the slightest.

Arden and the others darted through the trees, jumping over roots and dodging branches with ease but as they ran, they heard the sounds of the beasts getting closer.

Snarls and growls plugged the groups ears, they knew that the beasts were hot on their heels. But they refused to be deterred. They had come too far that they can't even turn back even if they wanted to.

Arden and the others finally saw a faint glow in the distance, Arden knew that it was the beacon. He felt a surge of relief as he realized that he was almost there. He pushed himself harder, running as fast as he could towards the pillar of light.

But at that time, a system notification suddenly rang in his head.

[ Host have less than a minute remaining to reach the beacon, a countdown from five will start shortly before the initiation of the Host's death by Electrocution]

"what the fuck!" Arden shouted. He was so vexed that he had the urge to spit blood.

[5]

As the system countdown began, time was running out. He could feel the pressure mounting as the seconds ticked away. He knew that he only have before the system finishes it's countdown to reach the beacon or he'd be toast literally.

[4]

Despite the system countdown, Arden could still hear the beasts getting closer. He has no choice but to keep moving.

[3]

Suddenly, he could feel his strength starting to wane. Arden couldn't accept this, he pushed himself harder, using all the energy he had left to keep going.

As he ran, he could see the outline of the beacon growing larger in the distance. He could feel a sense of hope rising within him as he realized that he might make it in time.

[2]

Immediately after the system's voice rang, Arden burst into the clearing where the beacon stood, gasping for breath. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest as he looked up at the pillar of green light in front of him.

He had made it. He had reached the beacon in time.

Evnor and the other arrived shortly only to see him gasping for air.

[Mission survival search completed]

Coin : 100

[ Serpent suppression pole]

Oblivious to the systems change in it's notification, Arden collapsed on the ground, feeling a sense of exhaustion wash over him. He could hear the sounds of the beasts getting further as if they were retreating.

Evnor and the other breathed a sigh of relief because of this.

A tall black pole invisible to Evnor and the others soon materialized from a white light and landed in front of Arden.

Just like the lazonion swift blade, this pole also seemed to be a reward for completing a mission.

As he picked up the pole to exermine it, another system notification rang.

[Level up initiated]

A comfortable feeling suddenly wash over Arden's body as his bodily strength magnified to a higher level. A dense energy was built up inside him by the time Arden finished his level up into level 4.
