The rain had cleared over Capital City, leaving the asphalt slick as glass, reflecting the brilliant amber and white neon of the financial district.

Caleb pulled the Maybach 62S up to the grand valet plaza of the Vance Logistics Tower. The 110-story skyscraper of blue-tinted glass and steel cut into the night sky like an obsidian blade—a monument built by his father, now hijacked by his uncle, Harrison Vance.

A young valet in a pristine burgundy vest hurried forward to open the door. The moment Caleb stepped out, his tall frame clad in his damp jacket and worn boots, the valet recoiled slightly, eyeing him with immediate suspicion.

"Sir, this is a private event for the Regional Banking Council," the valet said, his voice laced with practiced condescension. "The public parking lot is three blocks down."

Caleb didn't answer. He tossed the silver Maybach key fob onto the young man’s chest.

"Keep it running," Caleb said flatly, stepping past him into the marble lobby.

Inside, the grand atrium was vast and quiet, soaring eighty feet high with polished granite floors and towering brass pillars. At the central security checkpoint, four heavy-set guards in dark suits stood behind bulletproof glass barriers, monitoring the high-speed express elevators that led to the executive banquet on the 110th floor.

As Caleb approached the turnstiles, the head security guard stepped out, resting his hand on his holstered taser.

"Hold on, pal," the guard snapped. "Where do you think you're going?"

"Top floor," Caleb replied, his dark eyes fixed on the elevator doors.

"Top floor is invitation only. Name?"

"Caleb Vance."

The guard paused, a mocking smirk tugging at his lips. "Vance? Oh, the black sheep who just got out of Blackwood. Chairman Harrison explicitly put you on the red-list. Turn around and walk out before we drag you out."

Caleb’s golden interface materialized instantly before his retinas, completely invisible to everyone else in the lobby.

[SYSTEM TARGET: APEX SECURITY SOLUTIONS (SECURITY CONTRACTOR FOR VANCE TOWER)] [VALUATION: $120,000,000 USD] [ANNUAL RETAINER: $4,500,000 USD]

System, Caleb commanded in his mind. Purchase Apex Security Solutions in full. Issue an immediate executive order terminating Harrison Vance's security detail and reassigning all personnel to me.

[COMMAND RECEIVED] [DEPLOYING CAPITAL: $250,000,000 USD (HOSTILE OVERBID)] [TRANSACTION SPEED: 0.0001 SECONDS] [ACQUISITION COMPLETE: HOST IS NOW 100% OWNER OF APEX SECURITY]

PING!

Every earpiece, radio, and supervisor tablet at the security desk beeped simultaneously with a high-priority corporate emergency code.

The head guard frowned, pulling a vibrating tablet from his belt. The screen flashed bright crimson before displaying a formal corporate directive signed by the global board of Apex Security:

[URGENT DIRECTIVE: OWNER CHANGE CONFIRMED] [NEW CHAIRMAN & SOLE SHAREHOLDER: CALEB VANCE] [ACTION REQUIRED: ASSIST CHAIRMAN VANCE IMMEDIATELY. ALL ORDERS FROM HARRISON VANCE ARE VOID.]

The head guard’s face drained of color. He looked from the tablet up to Caleb, his hand instantly dropping from his taser. His knees wobbled slightly as he snapped into a rigid, military-grade bow.

"C-Chairman Vance!" the guard stammered, his voice trembling in sheer terror. "We... we were not informed of your arrival! Please forgive our disrespect!"

The three other guards immediately fell into line, bowing so low their heads almost touched the marble counter.

"Clear the express elevator," Caleb ordered smoothly, walking past the turnstiles without slowing down. "And bring six men to the 110th floor. You're going to help my uncle pack his bags."

"Right away, Chairman!" the head guard barked into his radio. "Clear Grand Express One! All units on floor 110, stand by for Chairman Vance!"

On the 110th floor, inside the grand Imperial Ballroom, crystal chandeliers cast a brilliant, warm light over three hundred high-society guests. Soft classical music played from a string quartet near the stage, while champagne flowed freely into crystal flutes.

At the center of the room stood Harrison Vance—a stout man in his late fifties with slicked-back grey hair, tailored tuxedo, and a thick gold watch glistening on his wrist. Surrounding him were the prominent members of the Regional Banking Council, laughing and raising their glasses.

"To the future of Vance Logistics!" Harrison proclaimed, his voice booming over the chatter. "With my unfortunate nephew’s legal rights officially terminated today, our merger with the Sterling Group is officially sealed. We control ninety percent of the maritime shipping lanes in Aethel District!"

Applauses echoed through the room.

"A masterstroke, Harrison," Senior Governor Victor Sterling said, sipping his champagne. "Though I hear your nephew was released from prison this morning. You're sure he won't cause any trouble?"

Harrison snickered dismissively. "Caleb? Please. The boy is penniless, homeless, and his sister is drawing her last breaths in a public ICU. He has nothing. In this city, without capital, a man is less than a ghost."

BOOM!

The massive, twelve-foot mahogany doors at the entrance of the ballroom burst open, slamming hard against the interior walls.

The string quartet stopped mid-note. The laughter instantly died down as three hundred heads turned toward the entrance in shocked silence.

Caleb Vance stepped into the hall.

He wore no tuxedo. He wore his damp denim jacket, black jeans, and muddy boots, his dark eyes scanning the room with terrifying calm. Flanking him were four heavy Apex security officers in full tactical gear, standing at rigid attention behind him.

Whispers erupted across the ballroom like wildfire.

"Is that... Caleb Vance?" "What is he doing here? Look at how he's dressed!" "Where is building security? Why are they escorting him?!"

Harrison’s face turned red with anger. He set his champagne glass down on a waiter’s tray and marched toward the entrance, his finger pointing aggressively at Caleb’s face.

"Caleb!" Harrison roared, his voice trembling with fury. "How dare you show your miserable face here! Security! What are you doing?! Grab this convict and throw him off the property!"

The Apex security guards didn't move an inch. Their faces remained stoic behind their dark visors.

Caleb walked past his uncle, ignoring him completely, and stepped up onto the central stage where the microphone stood.

"Hey! I'm talking to you, you ungrateful brat!" Harrison screamed, chasing after him up the steps. "You think because you walked out of Blackwood you still own a piece of this company?! I stripped you of everything! You don't own a single blade of grass in this building!"

Caleb reached the podium, adjusted the microphone, and looked out over the crowd of elite bankers, politicians, and corporate magnates.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen," Caleb’s voice resonated through the high-end sound system, deep and perfectly steady. "I apologize for the interruption, but I have a brief announcement regarding the leadership of Vance Logistics."

Harrison reached the stage, grabbing the edge of the podium. "Shut him down! Cut the power!" he yelled at the technicians near the back.

"As of thirty seconds ago," Caleb continued smoothly, his golden interface flashing with light in his field of vision, "Vance Logistics is no longer for sale."

[TARGET: VANCE LOGISTICS CONGLOMERATE] [TOTAL PUBLIC SHARES: 100,000,000] [CURRENT VALUATION: $3,200,000,000 USD]

System, Caleb commanded in his mind. Execute an absolute buyout of all outstanding public and private shares of Vance Logistics at ten times the current market price. Force an immediate squeeze on all Sterling Group holdings.

[COMMAND EXECUTED] [CAPITAL DEPLOYED: $32,000,000,000 USD] [TRANSACTION TIME: 0.0001 SECONDS] [ACQUISITION COMPLETE: HOST CONTROLS 100% OF VANCE LOGISTICS SHARES]

PING! PING! PING!

Simultaneously, the phones of every banker, investor, and board member in the room began vibrating violently with high-frequency stock exchange alerts.

Harrison pulled his phone from his pocket, his hand shaking. He stared at his private broker app, his eyes bulging as if they were about to burst.

"W-what... what is this?!" Harrison stammered, his face turning from red to a sickly, pale white. "Every share... someone just bought every single public share for three hundred dollars a share?! Who has thirty billion dollars in liquid cash?!"

Caleb stepped away from the microphone, walked up to Harrison, and looked down at his trembling uncle.

"I do, Harrison," Caleb whispered coldly.

Harrison staggered back, clutching his chest. "You... no... that's impossible! You were in prison! You don't have money! Where did you get thirty billion dollars?!"

"The same place I got the money to buy your bank, your security team, and the hospital you tried to pull my sister's plug in," Caleb said, his voice carrying the chill of the grave.

Caleb turned to the four Apex security guards standing at the stage steps.

"Former Chairman Harrison Vance is officially terminated," Caleb ordered, his voice echoing across the silent ballroom. "Escort him off the premises. If he steps foot in this tower again, throw him in the harbor."

"Yes, Chairman!" the lead guard barked.

The four guards moved in instantly, grabbing Harrison by his arms and dragging him backward down the stage steps.

"Let go of me!" Harrison shrieked, kicking his legs like a frantic child as his gold watch slipped off his wrist and shattered against the marble floor. "Caleb! You can't do this to me! I'm your uncle! I'm family! CALEB!"

The crowd of three hundred elite guests parted in absolute horror as Harrison’s frantic screams faded down the grand elevator shaft.

Caleb stood at the edge of the stage, buttoning his damp jacket, his dark eyes sweeping across the silent room. Senior Governor Victor Sterling and the remaining members of the Banking Council backed away slowly, their faces dripping with cold sweat, realizing that the balance of power in Capital City had been permanently shattered in a single night.

Caleb turned and walked toward the private executive elevator, pulling his phone from his pocket.

His eyes were locked on the city lights shining below, cold, focused, and ready for the next move.
