In a separate wing of the Walter's mansion, a well-built bodyguard knocked on a door and walked in.

"Master." He bowed deeply at the man clothed in dark robes seated near the window.

"Speak."

"Adam just left the mansion with his bodyguard, they seemed to be headed to the airport. Should I intercept them?"

"Fleeing in the middle of the night?" the man stroked his gray beards. "Very interesting. Is that all?"

"Cleo asked the old man for a cheque before they left."

He nodded, a fierce look on his face. "Was there anyone else with them?"

The guard's eyes flickered. "N. . .No, Master. I only saw the two of them leave quietly."

The man fixated his hard gaze on the window for a while. "That's fine, let them run as far as they can. They can't escape the calamities awaiting!"

.

Adam flipped through the LaoTsu Textbook of Chinese Medicine. He'd been trying to find a cure to Amelia's condition for the past hour.

But his mind kept wandering back to the dark figure he noticed watching as they left the mansion earlier. The person didn't seem like someone from the mansion, and he was certain it wasn't Roberto or his men. Cleo had made sure they were all asleep.

Who could it be?

"How's it going?" Cleo's voice interrupted his thoughts, as she came to settle beside him.

"Nothing yet."

"Well, the herbs you prescribed have been quite effective. Her symptoms have reduced by 50%. After another hour she'll be awake."

Adam nodded snugly. "Those herb can only suppress the symptoms for a few days, I still need to get the King Lotus to cure her completely."

With his persuasion, Cleo finally agreed to leave Nevada with Amelia.

Only him could find a permanent cure to his sister's condition. And the only place he could find a piece of King Lotus was at the Hemsworth garden where he'd cultivated herbs for 5 years.

Leaving Amelia behind was too dangerous. They still had no idea who was poisoning her..

Infact they had little clue about anything.

Adam glanced at the cheque in his hands. #100 million dollars. Along with the VVIP ID of the Walters Group.

With this, no one would be able to bully him and his sister again, and he would be able to find the entire truth!

"You Hemsworth family, just wait! I am going to pound you with my fists until you're crushed to dust!"

.

The plane alighted at the Colorado international airport where a luxurious Porsche was awaiting them.

Cleo had purchased a small duplex in a quiet part of town for their stay.

All through the journey, Adam relaxed back on the seat, mentally preparing for the first step.

His Hundred Herb Mall.

He needed to get some more herbs to sustain his sister before she finally gets cured. And check out how well Lori Hemsworth managed the mall for 3 years.

Immediately they arrived at the gates to the duplex, Amelia woke up.

She clung to Cleo who was scared of another outburst, hurrying her in.

But when Amelia saw Adam, she only frowned and said. "He's a bad man. He let those evil people take me away!" then she scurried off.

His sister's words stabbed the depths of his heart. Unfortunately, she was right. He'd abandoned her and allowed bad people to hurt her.

Adam rushed to his room to take a shower. He had to commend Cleo's foresight. She actually stocked the wardrobe with different styles of men clothing's.

He picked his new wallet that was filled with dollar bills, and headed out to flag a taxi.

At the hundred herb mall, people were going and coming each minute.

Adam had barely stepped in when he heard sounds of pleading.

"Shopkeeper, please I really need the Purple Bex to cure my granddaughter. She's on the brink of death, this is all the money I have, have mercy." A haggard looking old man stood at the counter, on the verge of tears.

"Hmmph! I've told you several times, old man I can't take a mere 40 dollar bills." The shop keeper who was a chubby middle-aged man threw the money to the floor. "If your granddaughter's life is really worth it, you should pay 100 dollars!"

Adam raised his brows. When did a simple Purple Bex cost 100 dollars?

The old man went on his knees. "I have no other money on me, sir. This is actually all my savings for a year, please. Granddaughter's life is at-"

"Oh really?" the shopkeeper scoffed. "You can't afford 100 dollars, but you have an expensive pendant on your neck?"

"No." the old man stammered. "This is-"

Adam glanced at the pendant. A few designs were carved on it, making it look like an antique made from pure silver.

The shopkeeper bent and snatched it. "Ahhh. This should do."

"N. . .No sir." he got up in panic. "It's my ancestral heirloom that has been passed over 20 generations. It's too precious, I can't-"

"Then I can't help you!" the shopkeeper threw it back at him. "Seems this pendant is more precious than your granddaughter's life. Hurry up and scram!"

"Wait, please." Dejected, the old man had no choice them to hand it over.

"Hmmph. You should be glad I'm willing to accept this trinklet!" the shopkeeper snatched it again with a sly smile.

He then brought out a small heart-shaped plant in a glass case. "There you have it, 100 year old Purple Bex. Good as new!"

Adam scoffed internally as the old man grabbed it with relief. The herb was a counterfeit!

Apart from charging exorbitant prices, the shopkeeper snatched an old man's heirloom and handed him a fake herb. And a person's life was at stake!

Was that how greedy Lori taught her staff to be?

Before the old man could leave, Adam moved to the counter. "Good evening, Senior. What's that herb in your hand called?"

"A 100-year old Purple Bex."

He nodded. "Could you wait a few minutes outside? I want to tell you something important."

Confused, the old man quickly nodded and scurried off.

"Welcome, sir. What can Hundres Herb Mall get for you today?" the shop-keeper beamed, carefully sizing Adam up.

"I need a pot of Special Anis."

"We totally have that in stock, available in several grades. We have the 2-year old freshly grown and 6 months organically grown. Both capable of curing intense tremors. Which would you like?" the shopkeeper smiled. Adam looked like a young naive man who he could rip off a few thousand bucks.

"I'll have the freshly grown."

The shopkeeper rubbed his hands in excitement, ordering a helper to bring a pot of Special Anis.

"Here it is, sir."

Adam's expression remained blank. This herb was only a month old, and very incapable of curing tremors. "How much?" he asked.

"How much can you pay?"

"20 dollars."

"Ha-ha!" the shop-keeper burst out laughing. "This herb is over 2 years old and capable of curing the most extreme tremors and fatigue. It's currently worth more than my salary here!"

Adam was stunned. But the helper behind the man kept signaling him not to buy it.

"Mister, you have to pay 200 dollars or forget it!"

"What?" Adam lost it. He'd seen different types of scam, but this was the worst of all.

"You must be crazy, expecting me to pay so much for a month old herb?"

The shopkeeper's face paled. "What're you saying? This is an original 2-year old Special Anis, cultivated by experienced Northern farmers!"

"Lies!" Adam scoffed. "Special Anis is one of the most common herb in small gardens. I cultivated lots of it back in my garden and I know exactly what a month old herb looks like."

"You!" the shopkeeper's fingers trembled. "How dare you accuse me of lying? Who do you think you are? The Hemsworth would definitely not let you off."

His loud voice got the attention of a few customers. The old man from earlier quickly rushed in. "What's going on?"

"This impudent bastard came over here to accuse me of selling fake products!" the shopkeeper bellowed at Adam. "He's the only fake one here, claiming to be what he's not!"

Smirking, Adam walked up to grab the Purple Bex from the old man. "Everyone knows a 100-year old Bex would never wilt when exposed to air."

He removed the herb from the glass case, and right before everyone's eyes, the herb wilted.

"Even this is fake. This is only a bark of a random tree, not a Purple Bex!" Adam faced the shopkeeper. "Is this how you keep defrauding customers and selling fake things?"

By now, the commotion had attracted a small crowd. Everyone gasped in horror.

"What has the Hundred Herb Mall been selling to us, a bunch of fake herbs?"

"This is a criminal act, they all deserved to be thrown into jail with this place demolished!"

When the shopkeeper saw the rising uproar, he began to tremble. "It's all his fault! He came in here and accused me of selling fake herbs, meanwhile he was the one that brought this fake herb to be sold!" He pointed at the wilted plant.

"The Hundred Herb Mall would never put citizen's lives on the line! This man is a thief, get some men to arrest him!" the shop-keeper yelled.

The old man was furious. "You! After a snatching my pendant, you dare to-" He stopped talking when the shopkeeper discreetly threw the pendant at him.

Adam wasn't surprised. "That's it, you're fired."

"What? Who are you? Who gave you the right to fire me?"

"I have the right, cause I'm the legal owner of this mall, Adam Walters!"

The shopkeeper only burst into laughter. "No wonder you seemed quite familiar from the start. You're the useless son-in-law of the Hemsworth family? Hurry up and get lost before your mother-in-law arrives to skin you alive!"

"You're just a useless illiterate, and you come here to act all arrogant? Do you have more knowledge about herbs than me?"

A few people were bought over by his the shopkeeper's words. "I heard Seraphina's husband was stupid, I didn't know he was also a thief!"

Just then, a few police officers burst in. "A thief was reported to be here."

"Yes, that's him! He tried to steal an expensive herb, take him away immediately!"
