The house felt suffocated but the idea of him living in the Paige’s family house was more than suffocating for Ethan. He couldn’t move freely in the house without the servants taking down at him. He felt more like a slave in his own house.

But it was comforting with the contract he had signed. Ethan knew it was just a year, and it was only a matter of time before it lapsed. He didn’t understand why Cassandra had orchestrated the marriage anyway.

All he knew was that he was picked out of many men who were in the company. Ethan was given a post in the organization just to make him look good. Everyone knows that the list meant nothing as Ethan would just sit down ideally without doing anything.

He lay down on the bed and closed his eyes. He has had a long day, and he needed all the rest. The door to his room opened gently. He looked at the time and looked back at Cassandra, who was putting on a beautiful velvet gown.

He watched her as she took off her clothes. His eyes darted towards the wall clock right in front of her. He still didn’t know where she was coming from, and the thought of asking her scared him. He watched her as she walked into the bathroom to have a shower.

She was back in no time. Ethan watched as she landed on the bed beside him. “You do know the time is far gone.” Ethan said slowly, trying to sound gentle.

“What did you say?” Cassandra asked with anger. “Did you just talk back to me?” she lashed out at Ethan. “It seems you are forgetting your place.”

Ethan sat upright. “I think we need to make the rules again.” He said, looking for the light switch. The light went on, slowly illuminating the darkness around them. “What do you mean we need to remake the rules? Are you saying you want to lord over me? Don’t forget this marriage is just a sham! Cassandra said, raising her voice at him,

“You should be grateful! You were wallowing in debt until I helped you, and here you are telling me what time I should come and go in my own house.” Cassandra said with a smirk on her face. “I am just saying.”

Ethan was about to finish his words when Cassandra got her pillow and walked out of the room without looking back. He lay back on the bed without saying a word with the thought of what his punishment might be tomorrow.

[EARLY THE NEXT MORNING]

The chirping sound of the bird and a text message from Ethan’s phone woke him up. It was a sunny Saturday morning. The family was supposed to go golfing. Ethan had never understood the need for him to always go golfing with them. He remembered when he was alone, he would use that time to go to the orphanage and help out with one or two things that needed his attention, but ever since he got married to Cassandra, he had been at Paige’s beck and call.

All he had to do was carry their golf pack up and down. He walked lazily to the bathroom and cleaned his face before waking to the calendar to have it ticked.

Ethan has taken it as a habit to tick every blessed day he spends in Paige’s big mansion.

Today was the 3rd of January. He ticked it with a sigh. Another day of humiliation and talking down on

His phone rang continually. Ethan wondered who was calling him so early. He walked fast and grabbed his phone, but then the words he heard sent electric jolts down his body. “Am I speaking to Mr. Ethan?” The voice said gently.

“Yes, you are speaking to him.” Ethan replied anxiously.

“I am calling to remind you that your electricity bill is now overdue. Please pay up before we take any legal actions. This will be the last time we are going to be calling you. Have a good day.”

The call ended even before Ethan could say anything. “Why is all of this happening? Didn’t she take care of it?” He said slowly, looking at the strange number that called him. Before he could drop his phone, another call came right in.

“Hello, is that Mr. Ethan?” The voice asked again.

Ethan cut the call off before any complaint. He knew what was going on.

He took his undies and walked out of his room toward the main mansion. As he approached, he could hear the faint laughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paige. They all turned back and stared at him. “Don't you know what today is?” Cassandra asked with a frown. “Can we talk?” Ethan said, looking at her.

“Talk? You want to talk to me after you disregarded me.” Cassandra looked at him.

“Disregard? Did you just say disregard? I only told you that the time you came in was not…”

Cassandra stopped him before he could alter anything else. “Was it not?”

Ethan froze at the manner in which Cassandra was talking to him in the presence of her parents.

“My bills?” Ethan stopped.

“Is that why you are here, or are you here to apologize?” Cassandra stood up from her seat. The tension was high as everyone stared at Ethan. He looked like the odd man out, not sure why he had to apologize to Cassandra.

“Are you going to do it or not?” Cassandra asked, staring at him. “To hell with his apologies. I won’t have a man who looks down on my daughter marry her.”

“I heard William Hargrove is back in town.” Tiffany Paige said, looking at Cassandra, who was still fuming with anger.

Funnily, her angry face was laced by a smile. “Really? He didn’t call me.” Her smile was later replaced by a frown. Ethan looked at both Cassandra and her parents, not sure what was going on. “Why don’t we talk about your marriage with me?” Frank Paige looked at Ethan. “It is high time we rid ourselves of this nuisance.”

  • False Ideology

At this time, while all of that was busy happening with Miranda, Ethan was in a different place entirely, the only way he knew what was going on with his wife was of course through the public and through his own interaction with her. He was not even a little worried about her as he knew that William could not do anything to her again, not after all that he had said out to the public. It did not matter how much of the media or the press was in his hands, he would still be in danger if he were to go beyond the line and say or do something, anything that could put her in trouble. In Angola, Ethan kept on finding and revealing more and more secrets regarding William, it was there and then that he discovered that not only was William involved with the mafia and closely linked to the Don, but that he was also into drug trafficking and not on a small scale. This made him even more at ease and he began to gather as much evidence as he could as this would make a strong case against Wil

  • The explanation

I sighed tiredly as I followed Roslyn behind. She had promised to tell me something and I'm so eager to hear what she had to say. We stopped at a small barbecue stand that evening. The bar was buzzing with noise from a not too far distance. "Would you have some?" I asked, staring over at her and she nodded. "I'm paying for two" I told the man and he smiled before wrapping up the barbecue,he handed it to me and I gave the two to Roslyn. I dipped my hand into my back pocket and brought out my wallet and paid for the barbecue. "Do you sell those drinks too?" I asked pointing over at the cokes that were resting on the wall. "Of course I do. It won't be nice if you buy barbecue without drinks, should I wrap it up?" He asked and i nodded and he gave me the drink while I paid the bills. After doing so,I look into my wallet and I saw no penny in it. "Let's go over there" I pointed a bench not too far from the stand and we went there and sat on it. "You said you want to tell me something"

  • Contract states

Miranda's initial priority had to be securing her company, and everything else had to be taken out of the way. She watched him carefully, hoping that he didn't even figure out she had a hand in Jenna's kidnapping because that was going to close a lot of problems between them, and she would rather just stay on her own. The next few days revolved around planning dangerously and now finding out what exactly the problem is. "Is there something you want to tell me that you feel is going to make me mad?" Ethan heaved a huge sigh, deciding that it was time to take the bull by the horns and not go around being a coward anymore. No one was going to force him into hiding except he allowed them and he was ready to put his foot on the ground and deal with the situation. Miranda observed the terrain and finally decided to take a better step in approaching this issue so that she didn't fall into the trap that he had obviously set. "Define what anger means to you and maybe I would have an in

"Why didn't you pick up my call when you saw it? Didn't you think that it could be very important or you felt like I was just going to reach out to you if I did not have anything tangible to do? Is that what you really think of me? Do you think that I don't have a business of my own or something to focus on instead of reaching out to you countless times yet you refuse to pick up? I don't know why I even bother with you. I don't know why I waste my time!" As interesting as her words sounded Ethan's only response was a nod. He knew that it was going to make her even madder than she was already, but that was exactly what he was going for. He wanted her to feel the heat. "I should have jumped simply because you called just to show you how interested I am in your life and everything that you have done so far but that is not my kind of thing and you will let me be. I do not enjoy being pestered in case you do not know. I would not sit here and hear you speak rudely simply because you fee

  • The peace

Cassandra had never imagined in her entire life that she would be talking to Williams on a neutral ground besides always begging him to do her bidding. Now it was her time to shine and she was going to take it to heart. She wasn't going to allow them to move her away from her rightful place but she was going to keep her mouth shut and listen to whatever he had to say well pretending that she loved everything he was talking about. "You suddenly want me to help you right? Have you suddenly forgotten everything that you have done to me and said to me? You don't just come up from nowhere and expect me to welcome you into my life like you deserve it. I don't deserve the way you speak to me and I am going to treat you that same way in return." The amount of anger that went through his mind was not enough to stop him from thinking of how to deal with her but at the same time still hoping that he was able to handle the situation properly. Williams regretted calling her because now she

  • The request

Jada's attempt to apprehend Ethan at the casino was a colossal failure. The instant she fired the gunshot at the man who stood up to accuse Ethan of offending him, she attracted the attention of Ethan's burly guards who were stationed outside. She had been hoping to shoot Ethan, and if she had been patient enough to place the right target, she would have been successful. Now, an innocent man was struggling to breathe in an ICU. After this occurrence, the entire underground world and social media burst into an uproar. Everyone began to question what Williams's exact motives were. A thorough investigation was conducted and then it was discovered that he had violated the rule of the made men coven. Ethan had not committed any offense against him, he only made the bounty decree to rile up innocent people and perpetrate rancor in the society. To the regular people, Williams had merely decided to assassinate a fellow businessman because he had been jealous. Miranda did a good job promo
