Darius was brought out of his daze when he heard the beep and realized the call had ended.

‘My mother is from the McArthur family? Isn’t the McArthur family the richest family in this country?’

The McArthur family was crazy rich, they had a wealth that could not be exhausted even if none of the family members never earned money and just spent money for the next 10 generations of descendants.

It was a family that accumulated wealth from generations to generations. People often wondered when and where their family started to get it’s wealth, but it was a closely guarded family secret. Nevertheless, they were so rich that people often wished that they had been born into the McArthur family.

Darius was one such person who had fantasized about being born into that kind of family, but to think that he actually was!

As he was still thinking, he heard a notification sound on his phone and checked it. He saw a message that showed proof that the hospital bills had been settled and that all he needed to do was to go and prepare her for the procedure.

When Darius saw this, all doubts that he had flew out of the window immediately. He began to tear up again but this time it wasn’t because of despair, they were tears of joy that his story had changed. Finally his mother would recover to the bright woman that she usually was.

It was because he was the only one who cared enough to take his mother to the hospital for treatment that he had gotten the message so he had to tell his wife and daughter that everything would be fine now.

He quickly wiped his face with his hand and smiled brightly as he made his way towards the house of his in-laws. His wife and daughter were there and he wanted to break the news to the whole family.

Life was such full of surprises, he had just been kicked out of his Father’s house with despair and now he was going to break good news to his wife and daughter.

Some minutes later, at the house.

Darius quickly approached the house and heard voices from inside. It seemed that an argument was going on inside

He knocked on the door and then opened to find his wives relatives inside, specially her parents and grandmother. They had been talking to his wife Carla that she should divorce Darius. But she had been arguing with them just like the other times they had tried to persuade her.

Darius looked at his wife and found her frowning deeply, even his daughter was crying, saying that she didn’t want to leave her daddy. Immediately she saw him she ran to him and jumped on him to hug him. Darius looked at the people inside the ward and frowned.

‘why can’t they just leave my wife for me?’

He had been having struggles with them because they didn’t like him and also because he was poor. But now he had become rich, he just discovered that his real family was the richest and so he smiled.

Just as he was about to speak to calm them down, his wife’s grandmother started talking before him.

“Darius boy, why do you keep doing this to your family. You should know when to quit. How can I even trust you to take care of my sweet granddaughter when you can’t take care of your mother?”

“From the start I knew you would never be a capable man, just jumping from one shitty job to another. Can’t you see that you’re just being a nuisance by taking on things you can’t manage? I know you just went to beg for money from your father like the dog you are, but even in that simple thing you failed to see any progress.”

“Now you come back here and have the guts to smile like everything is alright. It seems you are finally running crazy from all the shit in your brain. I can’t even continue to look at you, you’re just so pathetic.”

Darius mood changed drastically and his smile was wiped off his face and replaced with a deep frown showing that anger was boiling inside him but he took deep breaths because he didn’t want to cause a commotion where his mother was sleeping. But the damn woman continued to talk.

“Let me make you an offer Darius, you see your mother here, there’s a way I can help you out.” She looked at Darius face and seeing no reaction from him she continued.

“I’ll pay the bills for her procedure and makes sure she gets treated. But only one one condition.”

“You sign the divorce papers with Carla right this instant and your mother gets to live. How’s it? Isn’t it a good deal?”

Darius was looked indifferently at her and then looked at his wife as she was tearing up. His heart shook inwardly because he loved her too much to let anything separate them.

He turned his face abruptly back to his grandmother in-law and replied her..

“I won’t do it. I don’t need your filthy money. Keep it to yourselves, my mother’s hospital bills have already been paid so you can get the hell out of here now!”

His in-laws were stupefied for a moment and even his wife looked at him in shock wondering how that was possible

. His wife’s grandmother’s face turned fierce as she glared at him in anger.

‘It seems you have finally gone crazy. I expected that you’ll lose your mind but not to this extent Darius. I can’t leave my granddaughter with a crazy man anymore. What gave you the audacity to speak to me like that? Do you know who I am?

Darius gave a nasty smile in return as he replied her immediately.

“I don’t care who you are! You should be bothered about who I really am!”

She glared at him with disdain.

“And who might you be dog? It’s not like anyone here does not know how poor and beggarly you are.”

Darius face turned stern and he replied her.

“I am not poor you witch! I have my own money now, I don’t need your help!”

Immediately silence descended in the word with different reactions on different faces.
