Chapter 3: Make a Deal

At that time Damian knew that this woman who saved him was no ordinary person, now she was even threatening him. Since there seemed to be no harm in telling her name, Damian chose to give up and decided to tell Wendy.

"You can call me Damian." Feeling that it would be a problem if Damian said his full name, he simply told Wendy how she could call him later. 

Besides, Damian also realised that Wendy did not tell him her full name, so he was just playing fair here. 

"I can't seem to get you to say your full name. Yeah, I don't care really," Wendy replied casually, she didn't mind what Damian was doing. 

"I'm just answering according to what I got." Damian just nodded slowly without saying anything else. 

"One more thing I want to make sure of. Do you have someone you want to contact or a place you need to go?" This time Wendy asked Damian something that she really had to make sure of, because her plan could only work if she confirmed this. 

For a moment Damian thought about his current situation and condition, seeing that Wendy only found him and not Gil, then there was a possibility that there was a traitor in his group. For now Damian decided to hide and find out about the condition of his group from the outside. 

Damian shook his head, "There is something that keeps me from going back and I don't seem to have anywhere to go right now," Damian replied with a sigh, now he had to think about finding a place to hide after getting out of this place. 

Secretly a smirk appeared on Wendy's lips, this was the opportunity she was looking for this way, then her plan could go smoothly. All Wendy needed right now was Damian's agreement to help her. 

"I don't mind being your new destination, do you intend to listen to my offer?" Not wanting to waste her chance, Wendy immediately asked Damian. 

Damian was immediately surprised, not expecting that Wendy would offer him something, "I will listen," Damian replied, agreeing to hear what offer Wendy had for him. 

"Marry me!" Wendy excitedly said her offer. 

For a moment Damian was frozen in place without being able to say a single word. "Are you crazy? How can you say that to a guy you just met?!" Damian roared angrily as he began to realize what he had heard from Wendy.

"I'm sorry. But, I haven't finished saying my offer. Given that you need a place to hide even though I don't know why you are hiding, I will provide it for you, in exchange for being my husband." Wendy began to explain why she was asking Damian to marry her. 

Before Damian could open his voice, Wendy stopped him and continued, "Of course we will be bound by a contract. I won't care about anything you do, what do you think?" Wendy continued, curious about the answer Damian would give her. 

One thing to know about Wendy, she is the youngest child of the Clayton Family which is one of the wealthiest business families in Las Vegas. Because of this, the situation at home is very unhealthy with a battle for the position of heir. 

As the only daughter, Wendy is very dear to her father and because of that there are many of her siblings who don't like her, they want to set her up with someone problematic so that Wendy doesn't have any supporters to fight over the inheritance. 

The only thing Wendy could do to break the arranged marriage was to marry someone else, which is how she offered her offer to Damian. Because she realised that Damian was not a random person, from the car accident incident, she immediately knew that someone had deliberately done that bad thing to Damian. 

Meanwhile, Damian himself was still thinking about the offer given by Wendy, but he was still hesitant because he could not just trust someone he had just met, especially before he had been betrayed until he almost died. 

When Damian thought about rejecting the offer given by Wendy, suddenly a machine-like sound buzzed in his head and a transparent screen appeared in front of him, which made Damian even more shocked. 

Ding!

[System suggests Host accept Wendy's offer so Host can upgrade System]

"Oh my! What is this?!" Damian couldn't help but speak in shock at this moment. 

Wendy, who saw Damian's strange reaction, began to furrow her brow in confusion, "What's wrong with you?" she asked in confusion. 

"Didn't you see the screen that appeared in front of me? And that strange voice?" asked Damian quickly, he felt that something was wrong with him at the moment. 

The frown on Wendy's forehead deepened after hearing what Damian said to her, she thought that his offer was too sudden and she was not ready for it. So Wendy decided to leave Damian alone first and think about his offer.

"I think my offer is too sudden for you, think about it, I will send someone to bring you medicine." After saying that Wendy waltzed away from the room occupied by Damian. 

Wendy's departure was too fast for Damian to even react, "Seeing how she's looking at me strangely like that, it seems like I'm the only one who can see and hear this thing called System," Damian muttered listlessly. 

"Hey, you System! How did you get inside my head?" asked Damian immediately forcing System to explain himself. 

[Does the Host not remember?]

"How could I remember! I almost died," replied Damian, unable to comprehend the answer System gave him. 

[Welcome to the System's Secret Revenge service. The System found that the body of the Host who was dying from the accident that time was suitable to enter, so now you are the Host of this System]

"Then is it because of your arrival that I didn't die?" After hearing the System's explanation, Damian came to think that he survived because of the System's arrival.

[It can be said like that. In order to maintain the life given by the System, the Host must increase Health Points by hiding their identity to take revenge and perform the Mission given by the System]

"Then I'll die if I don't do what you tell me to do?" This was one thing Damian needed to confirm with this strange System. 

[That's right. Currently the Host's HP is 50, every mission the Host completes will generate HP and as long as the Host can hide themselves well the System will also give them points]

"I'll do it if you promise me to help me find who harmed me and take my revenge on them." Damian's current goal was to find the mastermind behind his pursuit back then, which he suspected was someone who had betrayed him all along.
