THAT'S ENOUGH!

"You stupid thing, I told you to clear those plates before I get back. What did you do? You broke them. I will kill you today." Dorothy couldn't contain her anger as she kept yelling and hitting the young man on the ground with anything she could find.

In an attempt to calm her mother down, Hayley Greene intervened, pleading, "Mom, it's okay. You'll hurt him. It's just a plate. We can buy more at anytime."

However, her words seemed to provoke Dorothy even further. She retorted, "Buy new ones!!! Do you know how expensive those three plates he broke are? They are priceless." Dorothy managed to free herself from her daughter's grip and seized a small human figurine from the table, which she used to hit the man's head, causing him to bleed and lose consciousness.

"Ahhh!!!" Hayley's heart-wrenching scream echoed through the room as she shouted at her stunned mother, "Mom, you have killed him."

Dorothy immediately recovered from her surprise, and she sneered, "It's good, let him die. He doesn't bring anything good to this family anyways, he's just a fool." With contempt, she snorted and walked away.

"How can a fool be useless and foolish at the same time?" Dorothy hissed as she left the living room.

Meanwhile, Hayley acted quickly, rushing outside and hailing a passing taxi. With the help of the taxi driver, she carried the injured man into the vehicle and they sped off.

The young man who was injured and rendered unconscious was Elijah West. Having lost his memory and become a simple minded fool. He could do nothing but cause problems. However, despite his mental state, Elijah remained obedient to his wife, Hayley, who lovingly cared for him. To her, he was an obedient fool. She took care of him and as such he always listened to her.

Hayley's morning was chaotic and disorganized. She was preparing for work when this unexpected issue occurred, leaving her unable to go to work for the day. Despite knowing the potential problems that could arise from missing work, she couldn't abandon Elijah, whom she had just taken to the hospital.

As she watched Elijah being wheeled in for treatment, she murmured quietly, "You will truly be the cause of my downfall, won't you?"

She was planning to call her office to take permission for her absense today, when her phone started ringing.

'Grrr---rrr--rr'

As she answered, the male voice on the other end immediately spoke, "Hayley, where are you?"

She replied, "I'm at the hospital. Elijah is..."

Before she could complete her sentence, the caller interrupted, saying, "Come to the office immediately, or be prepared to lose your job. This is grandma's order."

The caller abruptly ended the call with a beep.

Since she had no other option and noticed that Elijah had already begun receiving treatment, she picked up her bag and left. Once outside, she promptly hailed a taxi and headed straight to Greene Industries.

Greene Industries belonged to the Greene family, who were not considered among the top families in Georgia. They were a third rate family. Interestingly, they were also Hayley's family. After her grandfather passed away, her grandmother took over the company. However, the amount of love and support Hayley received during her grandfather's time significantly declined.

Hayley worked as a sales manager at Greene Industries, leading the department responsible for acquiring new clients and securing deals for the company. It was quite a challenging job for a woman, especially when dealing with various male clients. Nevertheless, she never complained because she had her silly husband and her parents to take care of.

Hayley arrived at the company and immediately made her way to the meeting room. There, she found her grandmother, Old Mrs. Greene, already waiting. The room was filled with several other family members, including Daniel, who was her cousin and her grandmother's favorite grandson.

Daniel Greene was the one who had called Hayley while she was still in the hospital. He was dressed in a suit and had a rather arrogant expression. Daniel was known for his reputation as a playboy too.

When he saw Hayley, he remarked, "Oh, you're finally here, cousin. Do you even realize how long you made grandma wait? It seems like you don't value grandma at all."

It was evident that Daniel had a strained relationship with Hayley, which was evident from his sarcastic comment.

Hayley retorted with frustration, "That's not true, Daniel. I came as soon as you called. You know how much I value punctuality."

Daniel, not one to back down, replied sharply, "Oh yeah, but you skipped work, and you shouldn't have done that. I think your salary for the month should be deducted for that."

Hayley's face flushed with anger as she tried to defend herself, "If I skipped work, I wouldn't be here. You can say I was late, but I didn't skip work. Besides, when you called, I was at the hospital; Elijah had an accident, and I had to handle things there."

Daniel's sarcastic laughter filled the room, "Oh, that silly husband of yours. I hope he dies."

Hayley was about to explode in anger, "You!!" But before she could say anything more, Old Mrs. Greene, who had been quietly observing the situation, finally spoke in a powerful and commanding tone.

"Hayley, regardless of your reasons, you are late, do you admit that?"

Hayley reluctantly bowed her head and said in a low voice, "Yes, grandmother."

"Good. In that case, your salary for a week will be deducted," Old Mrs. Greene declared.

Hayley tried to hold back her tears, "But, grandmother, I was genuinely dealing with an emergency at the hospital. I couldn't just leave Elijah alone."

"I know emergencies occur, but can anything that happens to that dog really be considered an emergency?" scolded Old Mrs. Greene. "We have a business to run, and being on time and responsible are very important. He's not valuable, so why would you let him disrupt the business?"

"But grandma, he's my husband," Hayley said.

Old Mrs. Greene angrily slammed the table and said, "That's it, enough!!!"
