Chapter 2 : Approaching the target

Xavier turned around, and he was quite surprised when he saw that the woman was actually behind him.

"Relax," she continued as she approached Xavier and held out her hand, "Olivia Rodriguez. Woman you were with last night, if you remember."

Xavier returned the helping hand while smiling kindly and saying, "I'm Jacob Brown."

"Finally, I know your name. Alright, Jacob, living here isn't free. You are mine from now on; I bought you from them," Olivia replied with a bright smile.

Xavier couldn't stop thinking about the woman in front of him right now. When viewed closely, Olivia didn't look like a woman who had a bad aura—quite the opposite. She looks very friendly and sweet, like women in general.

"What can I do for you?" Xavier asked, still with a friendly smile, "As a token of gratitude, I will be loyal to madam."

Olivia stepped closer to Xavier while wrapping her arms around the man's neck. She smiled seductively and said, "No need to do anything; just spend your time with me."

It's a trap, according to Xavier. Logically, how could someone appear to be in love with someone else after just meeting them one night? Even though last night they did that, it doesn't mean that the woman immediately fell in love with him.

Xavier realized that he was perfect. Handsome face, well-muscled body, and smart. Xavier can do everything with his own hands, including conquering his target on this one.

It felt absolutely disgusting for Xavier to do this, but given his current identity as Jacob Brown, he had to act professionally. He touched Olivia's chin while smiling faintly, then touched her cheek gently.

"I am very beautiful, am I?" asked Olivia with a smile.

Xavier acknowledged this. She was, according to him, quite up to the standard of women who had entered his life.

"That's right, madam, you're very beautiful. I have never seen a woman more beautiful than Madam," Xavier replied.

Lie. Everything Xavier said was just bullshit. Not a single word that came out of his mouth showed the facts; he just did all that for the sake of the continuation of his mission.

However, Olivia's face suddenly turned firm and sharp. Xavier was surprised by that.

"Then prepare yourself for tonight!" Olivia said as she left the room.

For a few moments, Xavier was silent; he was very confused by Olivia's changing attitude. He also didn't know what would happen tonight, so Xavier felt that he should contact his comrades, but his steps stopped when someone knocked on his door and entered his room.

"Good morning, Mr. Brown. I am Sam, Mrs. Olivia's personal assistant. She asked me to invite you to take a tour of this house so that you know the layout," said an old man who was tall and quite stocky. The man was wearing minuscule glasses and looked like he was 50 years old.

Of course, Xavier did not waste this opportunity. He felt very happy because his task was running very smoothly and no one suspected him in this house. He was sure that the woman was just a stupid figure who was very easy to be manipulated by anyone.

When leaving the room, Xavier found a CCTV point located near the stairs. The old man named Sam took Xavier around the top floor, which contained only a few rooms and a very large balcony. From the large balcony, anyone can see the swimming pool, which is very cool. For a while, Xavier was attracted by the figure of a woman dressed as a maid who was cleaning a swimming pool.

"There is Madam's favorite area. Almost every day in the afternoon, Mrs. will spend her time swimming and then relaxing by the pool," said Sam.

It wasn't the swimming pool that was Xavier's focus at the moment, but the maid. Her figure was short, and Xavier couldn't see it very clearly from where she was right now.

"I'll take you to the first floor, please," continued Sam, who brought Xavier back downstairs.

"How many floors are there in this house?" he asked.

"There are three floors," replied Sam.

Xavier kept walking while thinking. From the outside, the house looks like it only has two floors and is very large and luxurious, like a house in general—nothing suspicious at all. What makes it different is that there are several bodyguards guarding certain points.

When we got downstairs, everything still looked normal. All of that made Xavier feel confused. In his eyes, Olivia doesn't look like the Mafia in general. Xavier has met with the Mafia several times and even had two previous targets who were also Mafia. On average, it is very clear that they are different, starting from the face, the way they dress, and the house.

"Does this house have a roof? I like sunbathing," Xavier asked.

Sam turned around to face Xavier and said, "Nothing. However, there is one floor that no one, including you, is allowed to enter."

"What floor is it?" Xavier asked again, showing his innocent face. He couldn't look smart at all in front of Sam. From the start, the man's gaze made him suspicious.

"Underground. The floor that is underground is very tightly guarded; don't even try to enter it," Sam replied with a firm look.

Xavier nodded in understanding, and they continued on their way. One thing he had to check this time was the basement. However, everything must be done slowly so as not to arouse suspicion.

At night, Xavier is asked to wear the formal attire that has been prepared.

Olivia asked him to pretend to be her fiancé for some reason. However, it was Olivia's request that made Xavier feel interested and convinced that something would help him complete this mission.

The two of them were in one car, and during the trip there was not the slightest conversation. Until finally they arrived at a building that looked very crowded, as if there were a party in there. They both got a very friendly welcome, and Xavier took up his duties as Jacob tonight.

Olivia led him to the fifth floor of the building; they didn't join the crowd that was having a wedding party. They both entered a closed room that is very private. Before entering, Olivia told Jacob, "Don't say anything; act as if you really love me. Either way, in front of the people inside, we have to look intimate."

"Excuse me, madam, may I know who is in there?" he asked.

"My co-worker. Don't call me madam; use any word that makes it look like you really love me, got it?" Olivia replied firmly.

Xavier nodded, letting Olivia take his hand. They entered the luxurious and very spacious room, unaccompanied by bodyguards. Two men in formal attire were standing in front of a monitor screen showing a person's data.

"I'm coming!" cried Olivia, who managed to attract the attention of the two men.

Xavier's body stiffened slightly as the two men turned around. He was sure that he was not mistaken; he was sure that one of the men was the mayor, who had recently served in the city.
