As Seraphine’s grip on the gun tightened more to the point it was making her skin red, her breathing hitched, looking at Francis in disbelief.

“Francis…” she called, the confusion evident in her eyes. “This isn’t real… You’re a good person.”

“A good person?” Francis asked, his tone mocking. “No one’s a good person in this world, Seraphine. Not even you.” He smirked.

Seraphine couldn’t believe the words he was hearing from Francis, especially the kind of demeanor he was now showing.

After her conversation with Francis earlier, she realized that Francis had told her there were two robbers—when she didn’t even mention the exact count in the first place.

Confronting Francis about it was hard for Seraphine, especially since Francis is the only person who treated her decently, even after they clock out at work.

“I don’t know why you did it… But you still have a chance to surrender,” Seraphine said, her tone low and gentle. “I’ll come with you, I promise.”

Francis didn’t answer. Instead, he

Zyren’s lips curved into a smirk, seeing the guy in front of him.“Pierce… The strategy department’s director,” he muttered, the amusement evident in his voice. “I wonder why you’re here.”He added, “Shouldn’t you be resting, or… being with your girl right now?”“Hah. Don’t mention someone who wasn’t involved with this, dude,” Pierce answered, his voice lower than before. “It’s only our fight?”“Our fight?” Zyren chuckled sarcastically, the fire ablaze in his eyes. “Everyone who is a Legion member, or even someone who prefers your organization, will always be involved with this.”Pierce only smirked, hearing the confidence in Zyren’s tone. It’s as if he doesn’t care whether he was cornered or not. After all, he managed to beat Caleb into a pulp.“Do you think you can escape with this?” Pierce asked, his grip onto Zyren’s collar tightening. “You won’t even have the chance.”Before Zyren could even answer, Pierce started to attack him immediately, punching precisely, making sure that h

  • Chapter 542: Take Down

Caleb looked behind him and saw Zyren walking out of the shadows.“It’s you,” Caleb spoke, his tone low. “I thought you were not going to show yourself anymore.”“Why won’t I? You have given me your authority as a police officer who monitors the Legion, so I can come and go whenever I please,” Zyren answered, his lips curving into a smirk. He added, “That just proves your loyalty.”Caleb didn’t answer. Instead, he leaned on the wall and puffed on his cigarette.“Hmm… I think I know why you’re grumpy,” Zyren said, tilting his head as he clicked his tongue. “Oliver is suspecting you, isn’t he?”“Of course, he will.” Caleb’s lips curved into a smirk, the smoke coming out of his mouth every time he spoke. “We’re not on good terms.”“Also, he became more attentive ever since that incident with Jack happened. I’m sure he won’t take this situation lightly.”“Knowing Zero, you’re goddamn right.” Zyren showed a devilish smile. “But don’t worry. Everything is under control.”Caleb’s brows furr

  • Chapter 541: Leaked Information

Smirking, Caleb went inside the room, and Oliver followed him.Oliver shut the door behind them, the small click of the lock echoing on every corner. The empty room was dark and silent. Dusts filled the old shelves lined with old weapons and boxes. But no one cared about that.Instead, Oliver’s gaze remained on Caleb, who raised an eyebrow in mixed amusement and confusion.“What’s the matter?” Caleb asked sarcastically, his lips curving into a smirk. “You’re looking at me as if you wanted to kill me.”“Because I do,” answered Oliver without hesitation.Oliver closed the distance in two strides and slammed Caleb against the wall by the collar.“Did you really think that no one would notice you acting strange for the past few days?” Oliver asked, gritting his teeth in anger.“While you’ve been looking at everyone else as if they were pawns of your games, I’m also looking at you, observing your every move.”Oliver’s voice was low and intimidating, and if other people were in front of h

  • Chapter 540: Prove Me Wrong

With the possibility that Nicholas might have been able to take Caleb on his side, although they didn’t have any idea on how they did it, Oliver realized something.Nicholas’ next move wouldn’t just be political, but even more dangerous than before. He had planted a trap, one that threatened the Legion, Colossia, and everyone they cared for.And now, it was only a matter of time before it fully unfolded, something that sent shivers onto Oliver’s spine.“That’s all I have to say for this press conference,” Zerenette suddenly spoke, halting Oliver from his thoughts.“If you have another question, then I’ll ask you to wait until I conduct the next one. Thank you.”Upon saying those words, Zerenette had already stepped out of the podium, ignoring the reporters shouting questions toward her.She was also aware that the public were against them now, although she wasn’t seeing the social media posts yet.The reporters stood up, and as they were more aggressive than earlier, they were about t

“What happened to Reynald Lakovia?” he asked without hesitation. “Charlie Wiles has been taken into police custody for a while now.”“Yet you’re here in front of us instead of him. Is he in a bad condition?”“No. I can assure you that he’s in good condition, but he needs rest right now,” Zerenette answered without hesitation. “But I’m not here to talk about that.Murmurs rippled in the air, much louder than before. All of them were now curious about what Zerenette was going to say.“I’m here to clarify recent events and provide the truth about the explosion that has been reported across Colossia.”Zerenette's gaze swept the room, landing briefly on Oliver, who gave her a subtle nod of reassurance. He had been her guide, her shield in the past, and even now, he stood slightly in the corner, ready to intervene if anything went wrong. She treats Oliver as a second father, and that will never change.“As investigations are ongoing,” Zerenette continued, clearing her throat, “we can confi

There are so many things to deal with. I hope he understands that.”“Of course, he will,” Oliver said, the sincerity evident in his voice. “He was the one who trained you for this. He knows how hectic it could be.”He added, “And he’s still stable. However, they still don’t have any idea why he
