Chapter 1: Unfaithful Wife
Oliver looked a bit rough around the edges.
He was wearing a tank top soaked with sweat, his sunburned skin and solid muscles on display.
Over his shoulders, he balanced two heavy crates filled with fish, easily over 300 pounds between them. Yet, he moved with an effortless stride.
Out of nowhere, a rock flew through the air, landing right by his foot and causing him to pause.
It had to be those lazy coworkers of his, who always dumped the hardest jobs on him.
Before he could spot the culprit, the market boss, Anthony, roared out from across the way.
“Oliver! You think I pay you to slack off during work hours?”
Yep, Oliver couldn’t even deserver a minute to catch his breath. To Anthony, he was no more than a workhorse.
And it wasn’t just Anthony—everyone in town saw him the same way.
For two reasons: First, he was an outsider.
Second, the real kicker, he’d married the town’s richest beauty, Trisha Henverton.
She wasn’t from some grand family, but around here, she was still a step above the rest.
A newcomer waltzing in and marrying the town’s finest was bound to draw some envy.
“Hurry up! If those deliveries aren’t on time, I’ll have your head!”
Anthony’s yelling continued, and Oliver let out a sigh.
“If you really want things done faster, maybe have the guys standing around all morning help carry a few crates?”
“You telling your boss how to do his job?”
Anthony’s gaze was cold, but Oliver didn’t back down.
“Just stating facts,” Oliver replied plainly.
He had no interest in wasting time on those pointless arguments.
Anthony let out a bitter laugh, stepping closer with a sneer. He jabbed Oliver’s shoulder with a stick in his hand.
“You think being Trisha's husband makes you something special? Everyone in town knows she’s got herself a rich man on the side.”
That made Oliver stop cold.
He could tolerate insults against himself, but no one disrespected his wife.
He glared at Anthony.
“What the hell are you talking about?”
Anthony laughed louder, like he’d heard the funniest joke.
“What, you like facts, right? Fact is, every guy in town’s seen your wife’s backside.”
Anthony thrusted his hips forward for effect.
“She was right beneath me, begging, ‘More, more, mo—’”
BAM!
Before he could finish, Oliver’s fist met Anthony’s face, knocking him to the ground.
“Shut your filthy mouth,” Oliver said coldly.
“Fuck!” Anthony spat out some blood, his shock quickly turning to pure rage.
“Fifty bucks to anyone who knocks him down!”
At Anthony’s command, the idlers who had been watching Oliver work all morning rose to their feet.
A few grabbed whatever tools were nearby, cracking their knuckles as they approached Oliver with smug grins.
Oliver clenched his fists, ready for a fight—
BANG!
A gunshot rang out, and a bullet struck the ground near one man’s feet, kicking up a small cloud of dirt.
The man jumped back with a yell.
Everyone froze in shock.
“What the hell was that?”
They all looked around, searching for the source of the shot.
Stepping into view was a woman with a fierce look and an air of mystery.
She wore a tight dress that hugged her figure, showing off her long legs and deep neckline.
In her hand, she held a gun, pointing it directly at them.
The woman’s sharp gaze swept the room, and settled on Oliver.
“Easy, gentlemen. I don't like fighting."
Everyone froze, barely daring to breathe, afraid the next bullet might land on them.
No one would question her marksmanship after what happened before.Who was this woman? Was she one of Oliver’s debt collectors?Oliver narrowed his eyes, his muscles tensing as he took in her unexpected arrival.
The woman didn't ask any question, but she seemed to get an answer that what was going on here.
"You all have no idea who he is, do you?"
She asked, a small, unexpected smile forming on her face. Then She cleared her throat, raised her voice:
"I’m here for Oliver. Just leave him alone, you all will get these."
Lowering her gun, she slid it back into her holster, then reached into her pocket and pulled out a thick wad of cash.
She tossed the stack of hundred-dollar bills onto the table.
Next second, everyone's attention shifted.
"What the fuck? How many thousands are those?!"
When they rushed forward, scrambling for the money scattered on the table, she turned to Oliver.
But he spoke first.
"Who are you?" He frowned, asking.
To his surprise, the gorgeous woman bowed in front of him.
“Oliver, we’ve been looking for you for a long time.”

Smirking, Caleb went inside the room, and Oliver followed him.Oliver shut the door behind them, the small click of the lock echoing on every corner. The empty room was dark and silent. Dusts filled the old shelves lined with old weapons and boxes. But no one cared about that.Instead, Oliver’s gaze remained on Caleb, who raised an eyebrow in mixed amusement and confusion.“What’s the matter?” Caleb asked sarcastically, his lips curving into a smirk. “You’re looking at me as if you wanted to kill me.”“Because I do,” answered Oliver without hesitation.Oliver closed the distance in two strides and slammed Caleb against the wall by the collar.“Did you really think that no one would notice you acting strange for the past few days?” Oliver asked, gritting his teeth in anger.“While you’ve been looking at everyone else as if they were pawns of your games, I’m also looking at you, observing your every move.”Oliver’s voice was low and intimidating, and if other people were in front of h

Zero: God Of Mercenary Chapter 540: Prove Me Wrong
With the possibility that Nicholas might have been able to take Caleb on his side, although they didn’t have any idea on how they did it, Oliver realized something.Nicholas’ next move wouldn’t just be political, but even more dangerous than before. He had planted a trap, one that threatened the Legion, Colossia, and everyone they cared for.And now, it was only a matter of time before it fully unfolded, something that sent shivers onto Oliver’s spine.“That’s all I have to say for this press conference,” Zerenette suddenly spoke, halting Oliver from his thoughts.“If you have another question, then I’ll ask you to wait until I conduct the next one. Thank you.”Upon saying those words, Zerenette had already stepped out of the podium, ignoring the reporters shouting questions toward her.She was also aware that the public were against them now, although she wasn’t seeing the social media posts yet.The reporters stood up, and as they were more aggressive than earlier, they were about t

Zero: God Of Mercenary Chapter 539: Perfectly Countered
“What happened to Reynald Lakovia?” he asked without hesitation. “Charlie Wiles has been taken into police custody for a while now.”“Yet you’re here in front of us instead of him. Is he in a bad condition?”“No. I can assure you that he’s in good condition, but he needs rest right now,” Zerenette answered without hesitation. “But I’m not here to talk about that.Murmurs rippled in the air, much louder than before. All of them were now curious about what Zerenette was going to say.“I’m here to clarify recent events and provide the truth about the explosion that has been reported across Colossia.”Zerenette's gaze swept the room, landing briefly on Oliver, who gave her a subtle nod of reassurance. He had been her guide, her shield in the past, and even now, he stood slightly in the corner, ready to intervene if anything went wrong. She treats Oliver as a second father, and that will never change.“As investigations are ongoing,” Zerenette continued, clearing her throat, “we can confi

Everyone nodded.“Then, this meeting is adjourned,” Zerenette said, bringing the meeting to a close. “Let’s have a meeting again once the plan has been finalized.”“For now, let’s go back to doing our tasks.”All of them bowed slightly, showing both affirmation and respect.Everyone left the room afterward, and when Oliver was about to exit through the door, Zerenette called him.“Stay here for a while, Zero,” Zerenette commanded, and Oliver obliged.Closing the door, he went back to his assigned seat.“Are you going to ask about your father’s condition?” Oliver asked, reading through Zerenette’s expression.Zerenette nodded with a sigh.“You know that I can’t visit him as much as I wanted to. There are so many things to deal with. I hope he understands that.”“Of course, he will,” Oliver said, the sincerity evident in his voice. “He was the one who trained you for this. He knows how hectic it could be.”He added, “And he’s still stable. However, they still don’t have any idea why he

Using his energy, Oliver was making sure that Reynald was always in good condition, although no one could find why he wasn't waking up yet.“Don’t worry, Sir. Once we find any news about this, we’ll inform you immediately,” the doctor said, the sincerity evident in his tone.Oliver replied, “Please do.”The doctor only nodded in response before exiting the room, leaving Oliver and Reynald alone.Sitting beside Reynald, Oliver’s hands hover just above his chest.Just like with Ray, Nick, and Samuel, Oliver could feel the residual energy in Reynald’s body. His powers were keeping them alive through the blast, and it’s the same with Reynald when it comes to the residual effect of the virus that struck him.It wasn’t healing, not in the traditional sense, but stabilization, holding them in the fragile state between life and collapse until medical help could take over.“Reynald, hang on,” Oliver murmured, closing his eyes as he concentrated his energy. “Just let me do this while the medic
