he hung up the call..

" oooh no..... the battery is down....... what do I do..... I can't lose my job. "

"thank God..... I have extra battery."

he quickly fixed the car, and then drove away.

He kept his eyes on the road and his attention to the instructions Harrison gave him.

His employer appeared to be in a serious mood, reviewing documents and making calls.

Adrian did not interrupt him.

He knew Harrison had little patience for unnecessary conversation while working.

The journey proceeded without incident.

When they arrived at the office, Adrian parked the car and opened the rear door.

Harrison stepped out and adjusted his jacket.

"Have the car cleaned this afternoon," he instructed. "I don't want it looking neglected."

"Yes, sir."

"And make sure it's ready by four. I may need to leave again."

"I'll take care of it, sir."

Harrison gave a brief nod and walked toward the entrance.

Adrian watched him go before returning to the vehicle.

He succeeded.

Harrison had not noticed anything unusual, and Adrian had been available when called.

But the day was not over.

He still had to make sure the car was cleaned and ready by four o'clock.

Adrian checked his watch.

He had less than three hours to complete the remaining duties.

He would have to be careful about how he used his time.

---

By the middle of the afternoon, the car had been cleaned and inspected.

Adrian checked the seats, wiped the dashboard, and made sure the windows were spotless.

He had just finished when Harrison's assistant approached him.

"Mr. Cole wants to see you."

Adrian immediately straightened.

"Is there a problem?"

"He didn't say. He just asked me to send you to his office."

"All right. Thank you."

Adrian wiped his hands with a clean cloth and headed inside.

As he walked toward Harrison's office, he wondered whether he had made a mistake somewhere during the day.

Had he returned the vehicle late?

Had he forgotten an instruction?

Had Harrison noticed something he hadn't?

He reviewed his actions carefully, but he couldn't identify anything that had gone wrong.

When he reached the office, he knocked.

"Come in," Harrison called.

Adrian entered.

Harrison was seated behind his desk, examining a document.

"Sir, you asked to see me."

Harrison looked up.

"Yes. Sit down."

Adrian sat in the chair opposite him.

Harrison placed the document on the desk.

"I've reviewed the schedule for the next few days. There will be some changes to your duties."

Adrian listened attentively.

"Tomorrow, I need you here earlier than usual. There is a meeting I cannot afford to miss, and I expect you to have the car ready before I come downstairs."

"I understand, sir."

"Also, I may need you to remain available for longer hours this week. I will inform you of the schedule when it is finalised."

"Yes, sir."

Harrison leaned back slightly.

"One more thing. I don't tolerate carelessness. If I give you an instruction, I expect you to follow it. If I tell you to remain available, you remain available. Is that clear?"

Adrian's stomach tightened.

"Yes, sir. Completely clear."

Harrison studied him for another moment.

"Good. You may go."

Adrian rose immediately.

"Thank you, sir."

He left the office and closed the door behind him.

For a few seconds, he remained in the corridor.

Harrison's words had been clear enough.

He expected Adrian's complete availability, and he would not accept excuses.

Adrian understood that his decision to take additional work carried a risk.

If Harrison ever discovered that he had left his assigned location without permission, the consequences could be serious.

He couldn't allow himself to become careless.
