I hatched from an egg in a fantasy world with a system screen.
I’m not a hero. I’m not even a person anymore. I’m a Helion - the hatchling form of an apex predator, cursed with a hunger that never stops screaming. In this world, if you don’t level up, you’re just meat. And right now? I’m the smallest, most tempting steak in the forest.
The System doesn’t care about my morals. It wants me to kill, to evolve, and to climb the weak-to-strong ladder until I’m the one looking down. But every time I sharpen my claws, I feel the human part of me slipping away.
Instinct says devour.
My conscience says protect.
They call me an Alpha - but they’ve never seen a predator who chooses to stand between the monster and the prey. As Helis, the forgotten energy of creation, begins to burn through my veins, the forest is starting to realize I’m not just another beast to be hunted.
I’m the one who’s going to change the rules.

Chapter: Chapter 10: The king is coming
The rider stopped before a building that looked ancient even under the cover of night. Two tall towers rose on either side, their shadows cutting across the full moon and drowning the structure in darkness. Between them stood the main hall, its center carved with temple-like patterns worn smooth by time. Dim light glowed from within, filtering through dust-settled stained glass of many colors.A high boundary wall surrounded the complex. The entrance gate, grand once but now aged, stood half-open; its iron hinges groaning with age as it moved. The soldier dismounted and crossed the damp cobblestone path toward the gate. Each step echoed too loudly in the stillness as the doors creaked wider, surrendering to age.He reached the main building and struck the wooden door with his fist.Knock. Knock. The door cracked open, candlelight spilling out through the narrow gap as the smell of old paper leaked out.A whit

Chapter: Chapter 9: Before the walls rise
Outside the habitat, the first tree that caught my attention was massive, oak-like, with broad branches and leaves tinted a deep purple.“Scratch!”My claws flared as I activated the skill. With a single leap, I landed a horizontal strike at the base of the trunk.SHHHHHHHHK!A deep claw mark carved into the wood, shaving away a chunk of the base.“Ooo! Look at that…” I muttered. “My level-ups weren’t for nothing.”Confidence boosted me as I struck again.SHHHHK!The tree toppled.BAAAM!Dust burst upward as the behemoth slammed into the ground. Before I could step closer, the fallen tree dissolved, breaking apart into drifting particles.[Normal Wood has been added to inventory.]“…What? Inventory?”The moment I spoke the word, a window appeared before me with rows of small rectangular slots

Chapter: Chapter 8: An unacceptable variable
Sierra knelt down, examining the charred ground.“Just like last time… there’s no elemental scent left in the soil.”She straightened slowly and looked around, her eyes widening.“The mana density is heavier here…” she murmured to herself. She swung her staff in a smooth circular arc. Several small magic circles formed around her body.“Presence Theft.”The chant was barely audible. The circles hummed with a low, annoying vibration. It made her feel like a ghost. Her presence vanished from the flow of nature as she moved forward.Trees and leaves began to glow faintly as she advanced, slipping past the hordes of monsters lurking in the darkness.None of them reacted. None even turned their heads as she moved like a smudge in the corners of their eyes that they couldn’t focus on.She stopped and raised her hand.“…Look at that.”

Chapter: Chapter 7: A place that shouldn’t exist
Only a few seconds passed before the pillar of blue energy vanished. What remained were drifting traces of Helis that pulsed faintly in the air, visible even from a distance. Thick clouds of black smoke rose slowly toward the sky as the burnt and bitter stench made the air heavy. The mage was the first one to move.“We need to move. Now,” she said sharply. “Head there immediately.”It took the others a moment to shake off the shock and return to themselves. Then, as if pulled back by training alone, they snapped once more in a tight 2-3-2 wedge formation.“Yes, Lady Sierra!” they answered together, some voices were louder than the others. And with that, the first group of true monsters set out, marching toward the heart of the forest where the real nightmare was waiting. The sun dipped below the horizon as they advanced.Deeper Forest — EveningI glanced back one last time at the charred trees before turning away.“I need shelter for the night,” I muttered. The forest after sunset was

Chapter: Chapter 6: Resonance
The mountain blocked most of the early light, leaving the jungle in a cold, grey haze until the sun finally cleared the peak. The rays of the early sun touched my fur like warm needles, welcoming me to a new beginning.A melodic chirping from an unfamiliar bird reached my ears as I opened my eyes, stretching lazily along the tree branch.“Yesterday was… heavy,” I muttered, yawning as I rolled my shoulders.Below me, the shattered clearing still bore the scars of yesterday’s struggle. The broken tree, the scorched ground, and Leonia’s bow before she vanished.“That was recognition,” I murmured. “From a colossal monster of this world.”I took a long and steady breath. For the first time since I hatched, my heart was not trying to hammer its way out of my ribs. I felt…Solid.First things first, food.“Predator’s Eyes,” I whispered. The world bled into red as my vision sharpened. Scanning the forest below, I quickly found my target.A baby fire wolf.I stepped to the edge of the branch.B

Chapter: Chapter 5: First Reach
My eyes felt too heavy to keep open.Above me, an open jaw lowered slowly, rows of sharp fangs glinting as they moved closer to my head.I could feel the end coming.Death hovered inches away, looking down at me with what felt almost like a smirk. My body was cold, yet my lips curved upward.I kept smiling, accepting it.That was when the system window appeared.[Imminent death detected.][Force-activating Predator’s Instinct.][Predator’s Instinct has been upgraded to Lv. 5 due to extreme urgency.]My heart raced once in fear at the mention of Predator’s Instinct. But the fear didn’t last.I had already accepted my end. I was satisfied. I had protected the woman and the child. That was enough. Then I realized, sharp and clear. So that’s why Blink failed. My smile widened slightly as the truth settled in.“Damn…” I muttered weakly.“I was playing with my skills too much.”My gaze drifted inward.“My MP is zero.”“So Blink and Helion Breath consume MP, huh…”The foul stench of Leonia’s
