The girl is startled and faces the boy who wants to help her. Between the shocks, there were seconds to admire. For someone in his 30s, Josias would be considered skinny; but for someone her age, Josias was muscular.
Josias donates R$ 2.00 of his already limited money to help her. “Here it is.” He turns to her, “Sorry, miss. But, I saw you so smiling when choosing the shampoo; I wouldn't want you to leave without it.”
The girl smiles in thanks. “Thanks. It's the shampoo everyone is using; I don't want to be left behind. My friends said it was great.”
“By the way, my name is Josias,” Josias spoke with such certainty that they would meet again. Meanwhile, the clerk adds up and receives payment from him.
“Melissa.” The girl responds, now taking a closer look at the boy who helped her.
They say that while men turn their heads and make it obvious that they are admiring a woman; a woman can do the same with a handsome man with only an imperceptible look. That's exactly what Melissa is doing.
When Josias receives his objects and change, he begins to withdraw. Then he looks at Melissa and informs her. “I live right there.” Pointing in the direction of the favela, he did not want to say directly where it was.
But, to Josias's surprise, she smiles and informs, “Let's go together, then.”
Instead of going ahead to buy more things, as agreed with Teodoro, Josias returns to Happiness Slum accompanied by Melissa. The two talk and get acquainted. Melissa lives with her parents and younger brother. The parents are residents of the slum before she was born, when they got married, the slum was the only place they could live according to their financial situation. She is finishing the last year of high school, still doesn't know what to do, afterward.
Josias, very smart, risks a maneuver to obtain certain information. “I imagine that when you get married, you won't worry too much about a career.”
“What wedding?” Melissa asks, laughing. “There are no suitable candidates, and my father is very discerning. He said he prefers me to be a spinster than to marry someone here and have the same fate as he and Mom. He keeps insisting that we were born for better things.”
Josias smiles too. Information obtained successfully: Melissa is still single, and her father is discerning. He doesn't want his baby girl dating any wretch guy. This only gives Josias more courage to strive to improve his financial situation.
It is because with each step they take, each sentence they say, Josias becomes more and more attached to Melissa. She has green eyes, a fit body, is friendly and orderly. Many girls of her age and situation would be snobs and would already be dating a bad boy. But, if she has managed to stand her ground up to now, and if she obeys her father and respects his opinion, then it is a sign that Melissa is the best candidate for a decent wife.
Josias stops walking when they reach the corner of Main Street and Hope Street, realizing that Melissa will continue.
“Well, Melissa, my way ends here. I live in the building where there is a sign saying about renting rooms.”
“Ah, I think I know where it is. Well, I live further on. So we say goodbye here.” Melissa speaks in a tone of pity. She was enjoying the company of Josias; she felt that he was different from the boys in the favela. As if he wasn't from here (and he wasn't!).
Josias and Melissa shake hands, both smiling. “Glad to meet you, Melissa.”
“Look, if I ever meet you again, I'll pay you those two reais,” Melissa speaks as if she's forgotten about it.
Josias shakes his head, frowning. “No problem, Melissa. Never worry about paying me; you are not indebted to me. I just wanted to help.”
Melissa then nods. After a few more words, Josias heads for Teodoro's building, grinning. Melissa returns to her house with a good impression of Josias.
When Josias enters, Teodoro is amazed at how quickly the boy has returned. He notices that there is only the pharmacy bag in his hand.
“Have you been to the Downtown yet, boy?” He asks, noticing Josias's silly smile.
“No. I ended up staying to help a girl at the pharmacy. Boy... what a girl...”
Teodoro is already a lived man. He understood perfectly what Josias meant and laughed.

Chapter 3276 No Pressure
Caio and Brigitte met at home. Caio was sitting in the armchair watching TV, so sprawled out that he looked like he was posing for a certain magazine. Brigitte felt struck by lightning upon seeing her chiseled, attractive husband wearing only a pair of shorts so short it looked like a boxer shorts. The bulge in Caio’s pants was inviting and tempting... “Good evening, darling,” Brigitte greeted him, her eyes fixed on his ‘package’ as she sat down on the sofa. Instinctively, Brigitte hid her purse. The tip of her pharmacy plastic bag was visible. But Caio didn’t notice his wife’s purse, gazing at her sensually and fixating on her with the most charming smile possible. “Good evening, dear,” Caio sang the words. “How was your talk with Rosemary?” “It was great and enlightening,” Brigitte admitted, still looking at Caio’s manhood instead of his face. “Rosemary understood that we can’t achieve anything with insistence and pressure.” “I definitely don’t want to pressure you, my love
Chapter 3275 Josias Advises João Paulo to Take a Break
Rosemary returned to Lafayette Mansion. Walking through the mansion, she found the place silent. Looking at her wristwatch, she decided to go upstairs. Entering her suite, she heard the sound of water from the bathtub being splashed. Rosemary smiled, realizing Thierry wasn’t bathing alone. She entered the bathroom and was greeted with a little giggle from Jean Luc, who was happily splashing in the bathtub with Daddy Thierry. Thierry also seemed to be having fun, and to Rosemary, it looked like she was seeing two babies in the tub. Of course, sometimes Thierry held the child to prevent him from diving into the water or slipping and hitting his head. He asked in French, “Le bébé de papa s'amuse, hein?” Then he noticed Rosemary’s presence. “Regarde, Jean-Luc! Dis hello à maman!” Rosemary laughed, approaching. “I only understood ‘Mom.’ What silly stuff are you teaching my son in French, huh?” “Nothing, I’m a responsible father,” Thierry winked. Rosemary found a stool, dragged it
Chapter 3274 Playing with My Kids
Rosemary questioned Brigitte at Café Montanha if she really wanted children or if she was just trying to please Caio and her family. Rosemary had a faint suspicion when she saw how Brigitte took a long time to answer, looking into nothing. It seemed Rosemary had asked Brigitte whether 250 x 250 was the same as 250 x 250. There was even time for Neilton to prepare the cappuccinos and bring them to the table. “Two fancy cappuccinos for two fancy ladies,” Neilton joked, breaking the somber atmosphere. “He, he, he...” Brigitte took her cup. “Thanks, Neil.” “You’re welcome. Call me if you need anything else.” Neilton left. Brigitte turned to Rosemary, feeling she owed her an answer. “Rose, I honestly need to tell you that I didn’t know exactly what I was doing.” Rosemary reacted disappointed but tried not to be too harsh on her sister-in-law. “I suspected that when Caio told me you two hadn’t talked about it.” “Rose, what should I do? Everyone’s driving me crazy with all this press
Chapter 3273 I Don’t Want Him to Leave
Rodrigo and Nadia were chatting at Café Montanha about family news. Frank was on one of the stools, eating coxinha without catupiry. “Is the coxinha delicious, son?” Nadia asked maternally. “Yes, Mom,” Frank replied with his mouth full. Rodrigo had already told his son not to do that, but it seems he forgot... “So, my cousin Felipe is leaving. What a shame...” Rodrigo sighed. “He’s not moving too far away,” Nadia joked. “It’s right there in Sunset Village. When we visit Josias and Melissa, we can take the trip.” “That’s good. But we’ll miss the daily contact,” Rodrigo admitted. Rosemary and Brigitte entered, the latter dressed as a lawyer coming straight from Damascene Lawyers agency. “I needed to talk to you about a family matter, sister-in-law.” Rosemary pulled up a chair and sat down, with Brigitte doing the same. “I’m curious. Is it about some case or about OUR family?” Brigitte wasn’t sure whether to adopt the tone of a lawyer or sister-in-law. Rosemary gestured toward
Chapter 3272 Gossip Is Always Good!
Caio and Rosemary continued talking in the Teodoro Building canteen. The pressure cooker Rosemary was cleaning would have to wait after she said something that confused her older brother. “Did I say something wrong?” she asked. “No, I just reacted to what you said. Funny: there wasn’t exactly a dialogue,” Caio admitted, finding it amusing. However, Rosemary remained serious. “You two didn’t talk about it? Why?” “There was no reason for us to do that,” Caio explained, taking the pressure cooker from her hands. “I just saw from afar Brigitte throwing away her pills.” “You guys discussed this before. And after?” Rosemary looked genuinely worried. “We didn’t talk about it after,” Caio replied, a bit apprehensive this time. Rosemary shook her head. “Caio, I know you’re eager for a baby. But you need to check if Brigitte did this for you, for herself, or just out of spite.” Caio was stunned by that possibility. Brigitte, just getting pregnant out of spite? Rosemary smiled sadly. “D
Chapter 3271 The Importance of Dialogue
Caio appeared at the Teodoro Building, still dressed from Rocha Constructions. He was surprised to find Thierry at the counter instead of Rosemary. “Huh? Did you abandon the supermarket again?” he asked, approaching the counter. “Nah, my sister said I could stay here for a few days. Soon, we’ll have more reinforcements,” Thierry responded cheerfully. “More reinforcements? Are you swimming in the tenants’ money?” Caio smiled. “Somewhere around there. This building must be the most profitable in the entire slum.” Thierry joked. “And the best part: no one tries to rob us.” “Of course, who would rob from the most powerful man in town?” Caio looked reverently at the portraits of Teodoro and Beto. “Your dear sister is in the canteen. I believe she’s the one you want to gossip.” Thierry pointed while heading to the computer. “Exactly. Thanks.” As Caio was leaving, he said, “She’ll tell you the gossip later!” Thierry chuckled as he took the computer out of standby mode. In the cantee
