Ch 8: Buying slaves and making a new friend

2 months later it had gone by.

“I am impressed you are doing well in Necromancy for such a young boy it's almost like you were born for this dark magic.”

“Maybe I was Erhear.” Loren answers while making a few dead villagers move around under his command.

Erhear had Loren start with small things like rabbits, deer, wolves, or any other type of animal.

Then moving the boy on to people living or dead doesn't matter as long as it helps Loren learn Necromancy.

Over the past 2 months, Erhear has been carefully watching Loren and it is amazing how fast he can perform at such a young age, but the boy still has a long way to go to become a master at it.

“Tell me Erhard, why did you choose to study Necromancy because I never imagined a person like you would do that.”

It only took a minute for him to answer the boy.

“I study Necromancy only because I want to understand it to master that dark arts let any other part of the magic. I always find it interesting and wonder how those who fall prey to it go even so far to find ways to gain more power to feed it.”

“Because those fools have weak will along with a heart it takes someone to become its master instead of it becoming theirs.”

“Oh, do you believe yourself to be its master, Loren.”

“I do not need to believe, I will be the master of Necromancy, one that no one can surpass, so you better keep up Erhear.”

Hearing Loren says that made Erhear laugh again.

“Truly you are a special one Loren, I am amazed we were able to keep this secret meeting of ours from being found out.”

“That because I am skilled in not being discovered even by my step-mother spies at times, I have to go one from time to time for fun and mess with that bitch.”

“Tell me do you find killing enjoyment to you, Loren.”

Loren stops the undead village people, making them stand in place.

“If I don’t find killing as enjoyment, what do you think would happen to me? A person who could enjoy or at least deal with killing can one day lose himself in madness never to return to who they once were.”

“Is it because you're walking two paths that you must be a person who can deal with killing their way, but what about the good how would deal with that, I wonder.”

“I don't do it only when I choose to do good, that and also be this world protector.”

Erhear noticed that the word “protector” is what Loren means by that.

“When you say 'protector ' what does it mean behind it, I would like to know how you plan to make that happen.”

Loren slowly turns to face Erhear giving him a serious expression.

“How I plan to achieve such a goal, well I have to conquer this world, there are going to be many battles, I am going to have to fight, it won't be easy, but this is the line I will walk.”

“You keep on amazing Loren sadly, I could not stay any longer as tonight would be our last, so let us do a lot then.”

“Understand then let us keep going.”

------------------------------------------------

The next day Erhear said his goodbyes to his friend the old sage and already took Loren the other night.

No longer having someone to teach him Necromancy, Loren must work on it alone if he wishes to become a master at the dark arts.

A few more days came to pass as Loren went on with his life as normal reading books, studying, and training his Necromancy.

“Hmm, I believe it's time, I start getting a slave.” Loren thought to himself while reading and drinking tea in the garden located in the castle.

While enjoying his free time a sudden pain began to run around his head as Loren began to remember a short memory, one that seemed to not be his.

“Ah, there it goes again another of those weird random memories keep coming then going as it doesn’t learn more behind the reason for them.”

“Is something the matter of master Loren?” Someone asked the boy while Loren removed his hand from his hand to see it was his butler.

“Ah Clifton thank you for the concern, but there is no need to worry about me, just have a lot on my mind to think about.”

“A young man such as yourself does not need to think about a lot of things.”

Clifton Sharp is Loren's butler; this man only obeys the boy and no one else except the king.

“Tell me Clifton has the family doing,” Loren asks him to close his book to turn his attention to the man.

“They are doing fine, my nieces miss you and wish for the master to come to visit again, thank you for asking master Loren.”

“Good to know they are doing well and I promise, I will find the time to pay a visit again along with bringing some gifts. Also, I will make sure to give you some extra pay today Clifton.”

“You're too kind to a butler-like me as I feel that I do not deserve it.”

Loren laughed a little before speaking again.

“I am being kind as I value you as someone important to me.”

“I am grateful to hear from master Loren.” Clifton bowed before Loren.

“Anyway, I would like you to do something for me.”

“And what would that be,” Clifton asks to bring himself back up.

“I would like you to find me the best slaver in our kingdom and bring that person before me as Interested to buy me a slave today.”

“As you master Loren.” Clifton began right away doing what the young boy requested.

------------------------------

One hour later Clifton had done what Loren requested him to do where the boy saw a well wealthy look slaver before him.

“Greeting princes Loren, my name Jordan Deleon, I am honored to have been picked by you as I am a man who never failed to sell the best slave from my collection.”

Loren made sure to take a good look at Jordan seeing that the man has droopy blue eyes along with his fine, straight, green hair that is very long and is worn in a utilitarian, businesslike style.

He is very tall and has a masculine build with skin that is tanned.

“It is nice to meet you Jordan, please take a seat. Would you like anything to drink?”

“I would like that.” Jordan took a seat across while at the time Loren Butler brought him his drink.

“Before we do business, I would like to talk first to get to know the person sitting right across from me.”

“Of course Princes Loren and what would you like to talk about,” Jordan asks while drinking from the cup.

“Well tell me how you feel about me, I am the bastard son of the king.”

When asked that Jordan didn’t show much of a reaction to that question just smiled and put down his cup.

“That is an interesting question to ask, but I do not judge any customers that come to me as long as that person has the money, I treat them like royalty.”

“So that's how you see me.”

“Not exactly, you see, I have mastered the useful skill in reading people who I do business with to tell if they can be just another customer to me or a very important partner to a very good future long relationship.”

Loren smiles at what Jordan just said, but there is still yet more to talk about.

“Then who am I to you, a customer or something more?”

“Prince Loren from what I can tell you from just this little talk that you are no normal little boy, no to me you are someone of value and I like to not lose that as I have this big feeling that you will rise to become someone in future.”

Loren began to respect the man Jordan saw as this person can be useful to him as well.

“Alright then let's now start talking business, tell me how well are you getting your slave.”

“Very well whatever type, race, age, female or male, I have working ways to get them to give whatever the customer desires.”

“Well, it is useful to know that Jordan showed me your wonderful collection of slaves.”

Jordan smiled and snapped his fingers as guards began walking their way into the garden along with chained-up slaves following them.

The guards then had the slave stand side by side together for Loren.

“Please have a look,” Jordan tells Loren as the boy gets out of his seat and walks along the lines of the slave before him to take a nice look at them.

“Hmm, that man is good from the slaves I saw before, Jordan is good to get any living being to sell to anyone.” Loren thought.

Taking a little time in looking at the older male and females of different races, Loren thought it best to ask Jordan what he needed.

“Jordan, do you happen to have small children around the same age as me or a little older.”

“Of course.” Jordan made eye contact with his guards and then began grabbing little slave children to stand in front of Loren.

“Do you think any of these children meet your needs?” Jordan asks standing behind the boy

Loren closely looks at the kids before him; quite a few have caught his attention.

“I thought about only getting one slave, but maybe buying a few more would be useful to me.” Loren thought to take a longer look before turning to Jordan.

“I buy the dark Elf girl, human girl, male elf, and that demon girl.”

The two of them look at the demon girl who looks to be dirty and beaten. Jordan shows a displeased look as this girl should not be among the other slaves who look clean and well dressed.

“Forgive me Prince Loren, but she should not be here, guards remove this thing at once.”

“Now hold on, I said I would buy the girl.”

“But she wasn’t supposed to be sold as the girl only brought trouble, I was trying hard to train her to be a wonderful slave to sell yet it seems impossible for it to work. I have thought at times to throw this girl away or kill her.”

Loren looks at the demon girl again, seeing that it would be a waste to do that to such a useful person.

“No, I still wish to buy her, so give her to me.” Loren commend.

Jordan looks at the boy, seeing that he does not care about what the man just said, but he soon does not care as long as the man is getting paid.

“As the prince wishes,” Jordan said while Loren looked at the 4 kids that he brought.

Jordan and Loren finish their business and say their goodbyes to each other.

“Clifton had the maids paper a bath for the demon girl while I took these 3 to my room.”

“Of course prince, I will do so at once.”

Clifton left while Loren had the 3 other kids follow him to his room, once they arrived the boy opened the door and told them to enter while he soon closed the door where everyone was not inside.

“Alright listen, today your life is going to change.”
