Chapter Four: Daily Quest

Gradually, Xin's eyelids started to open and his vision soon returned. Although, his head were throbbing in pain due to how he had fell unconsciously to the ground. As he lifted himself off the ground, he touched his head to see if he had gotten any injuries but luckily, there were no visible wounds only the internal ones.

After seeing that his head was okay even though he's having a slight headache, Xin checked his hand and saw that it had all been healed. Xin was still wondering what was happening. What type of miracle happened that made the Brentons to treat his wound.

He thought that perhaps it was the Brentons that helped him clean the wound on his hands but something else is telling him that it is not the Brenton's doing.

It was at the last moment that Xin remembered something. Xin then went to pick up the suitcase that was thrown on the floor not too far from where he is. He opened the suitcase only to see that the book was gone.

"What?! But where did it go?!" Xin screamed loudly in his head.

When Xin surveyed the room, he started to panic.

"The book! Where in the world is the book?"

Xin searched everywhere for the book, still he couldn't find it.

Xin renumerated on what had occurred a few moments before he collapsed on the floor. Then he started remember the glowing book that was  hovering in the air a few minutes ago. Also, when he had fell to the ground just before closing his eyes, he heard a few words.

"What was it? It sounded like a telepathy message?"

As soon as Xin thought about this, a system notification tab had appeared right in front of his eyes.

<User: Xin Luck>

<Race: Human>

<Level 1>

<0/100 exp>

<HP 10/10>

<Strength: 10>

<Agility: 10>

<Endurance: 10>

<Speed: 10>

"What is this about? is this the witch's handiwork again." Xin said but he quickly dismissed the thought of being controlled by the witch.

< This is a system created to improve your fighting skills and to make you stronger than any other being in existence. All credits go to the creators of this system. >

"Huh? creator of this system? Who is that?" Xin asked but the system gave him no reply.

After seeing that the system won't give him an answer no matter how hard he try, Xin then decided to read the information the system presented to him, perhaps he could find something about who created the system.

As he schemed through the tab that was displayed above his face, Xin noticed that, on the status screen, there were more tabs that were placed on the top. Accordingly, even without doing anything and just by reading the tabs in his head, the screen automatically switched to the <Skills> tab.

<Skills>

<0 skill points available>

<Skill locked????>

<Skill locked????>

The last tab was the <Quest> tab. Finally, it seemed like a tab that wasn't locked behind a requirement.

<Main Quest: 2>

<Take up the role of the Luck family>

<Reach level 10>

<Daily Quest: 50 push-ups in 50 seconds everyday>

<Note: Missing one means starting all over.>

Xin grunted as he read this part. Will he really be doing this everyday. That,.. he isn't sure about yet. Not with his weak body.

<Reward: 5 exp >

After checking everything that the system contains, he still couldn't find out who created the system. So he had just left the system to be as it is, he knew that one day, the truth will be revealed to him.

While Xin was runumerating on what the system revealed to him, he thought of closing the system and it had effortlessly did. When Xin thought about opening it again, a screen would immediately pop up in front of him.

Xin could only think of one thing - The book that his parents had left him was an ability book. These books could often be bought at a very high prices from the military or a company. Some were even sold on the market place.

However, the sole issue was that Xin had never heard of an ability book that disappears into thin air, floating words and granting the user a system such as the one he currently had. The ability books were designed to be learnt manually. It wasn't something that one could pick up and instantly understand how to use. It simply isn't done.

Even after learning of this fact, a smile started to slowly appear on Xin's face. This was great news for him. He had always been a level 1 ability user because he couldn't find any ability book that suits his old Vampiric nature. Perhaps this book have something perfect waiting for him. To his fortune, he had something that he could use. He readily contemplated on what to do and ended up moving on to the next phase, which was testing the ability. He want to know the type of ability he was granted maybe it will be one that suits his fighting style.

But the system didn't state the type of ability that he have, how then will he know the type of ability that he have?

Xin thought about it for a while. If it truly was like a game, then perhaps, by completing the quests, he would eventually get stronger and unlock more skills. It was his mistake that he was treating it like an ordinary ability book when clearly, what he had obtained wasn't something that have a relation to the word ordinary.

Usually, ability books were based around one ability. It was important for a person to select their first ability book since a regular human body would only be able to perform one ability attribute. If one got transformation as their first ability, they would only be able to acquire other skills that were related to this attribute. Like hand transformation, a transformation that occurs only around the hands, Body transformation that occurs on the whole body, and face transformation that occurs only on the face. For example, if someone obtained water as their attribute, they could solely dedicate themselves into gathering skills that the attribute water could utilize.

Xin took an exercise position as he prepared himself for the Almighty push-ups he's about to do. But on his journey to a fifty push-ups, Xin was suddenly getting tired and worn out.

"Damn, how long is fifty seconds? I feel like I'm going to fall at any time."

At that second, Xin fell on his chest, stopping the count up of a twenty nine push-ups.

< Push-ups count: 29 >

< Not up to the daily requirements >

< Daily Quest failed >

"Man! but I'm at twenty nine. Can't I continue? This seems a lot harder than I thought." Xin complained but he had no other choice but to start all over.

"Finally Fifty Push-ups!!" Xin screamed out with joy as he was sweating heavily like a Christmas Chicken.

After finishing his fifty push-ups, a new notification message had appeared above his face.

<Daily Quest complete, 5 exp has been granted>

<5/100>

"Well, at least I know how the system works now," Xin said satisfyingly.

Unexpectedly, Xin's Android phone started ringing loudly. Xin quickly went to pick his call. As he picked his phone, he heard a grumpy voice of a man talking to him.

"Hello, I'm Seargent Leo. You have been granted an admission into the military academy. Tomorrow morning by 10am, we will come to pick you. Be sure to be ready before that time. Good-bye!"

Xin was silent as he heard the man speaking. It wasn't because of the grumpy tone of the man but because of where they said he was going. The military academy? Tension had enveloped the entirety of his body.
