“So I have indeed regressed back in time! I still don’t understand what this thing is, but only I can see it and it looks almost like a game window trying to give me missions. Well, it doesn’t matter because there is something more important for me to confirm and that is my sister’s life. I will believe this regression is true once I can talk to my sister!” Alex said to himself.

“What are you? An idiot or what?” A voice said.

Alex immediately turned around to see who was talking to him, but he could only see his reflection in the large mirror in the bathroom.

The voice sounded like that of a girl, and it is not that of anyone he has heard before.

“I am talking to you, idiot. I am only going to say this once, so you better listen carefully. I am the will of Nemesis, the goddess of divine retribution, and you have been selected as the vessel to carry the revenge Hero’s system based on all the conditions you have fulfilled.”

The voice said and Alex ran to the stalls and opened them one after the other to make sure there was no one in there.

“So you are a voice in my head?” he asked.

“Well, you can say that, but I want you to just listen to what I say. The goddess chose to give this power to you, but your body is still too weak. You must complete the missions given to you, otherwise there will be heavy penalties to pay.” The voice said.

“So if I refuse to save Edith from the serial killer that kidnapped her, what happens to me and who is Edith to you? In my past life she was killed by the killer, so why bother to save her now?” he asked yet another question.

“You still don’t understand! Edith means nothing to the goddess, neither do you are anything in this world of yours, but the goddess has chosen you as the owner of her gift so you must save Edith only because you have to fight the serial killer and gain experience from doing so. All the missions you will be given in the future will be for that reason alone.”

“And one last warning, for this particular mission, should you fail to achieve it, let’s see, I shall take the sight in one of your eyes as penalty. Good luck avenger of the goddess. May you excel!” the voice said, and that was the last Alex heard of it.

On the window, it now shows:

“Status window!” he said, and the window opened again. This time around one thing changed on the window,

Alex took a few moments to put his thoughts back in place before he walked back to the mirror and washed his face.

“I should get back to the class and pick my bag now.” He said to himself and walked to the door. He took one more look at the status window and said.

“Close status window!” he said and just at this moment the door opened and four boys from the senior class and Shin from his class walked in through the door.

Shin pointed at him and said, “He is here as I told you. He ran away from class before the break time to escape from you. I told you so, didn’t I?”

The largest one among the seniors raised his hand and smacked Shin on the head.

“You are right, I can see it so stop shouting at me about it, you asshole! Now get outside and watch the door for the teachers before I beat your ass!” he said and Shin ran out of the restroom immediately knowing that he will get smacked again if he waste any more time.

“Ahhhhh, I totally forgot about you guys, this was the time you were still bullying me because I am on probation and if I get caught fighting again I will be expelled, I guess I don’t need to hold on this time around because it will not matter if I get expelled or not when the apocalypse happens.” Alex said to them, and all of them quickly surrounded him in one corner.

Suddenly, the system window appeared again and when Alex looked at it, he saw:

Alex smiled as soon as he saw the rewards. “Accept! I have to test out the moves I learned in my past life on actual targets to know if I still have it in me.” he said.

“Get him! Beat him until he begs for mercy.” The largest one said.

The first boy reached out his hand and grabbed Alex’s shirt. He pulled him closer and punched him in the gut hard, making Alex gasp for air. But immediately he smiled and looked at him and said.

“It surely hurts, you bastard, but you know what? This level of pain is nothing compared to what I have endured in the future in my previous life.”

He grabbed the boy’s hand and twisted it, making him scream in pain before he used his index finger and stabbed him in five different places in the neck, chest and tummy, and immediately. The boy fell on the floor and pissed himself.

Alex let go of him as the second and third seniors rushed him. He used one of his legs and tripped one to the ground into the pool of urine of the first guy. His face hit the floor hard and his nose broke while he splashes into the pee.

Alex quickly grabbed the third one and slapped him so hard he lost his balance. Before he fell, Alex kicked him in his groin and sent him crashing to the floor as well.

The larger boy was busy shaking his head in disappointment that the three of his colleagues could not handle Alex, the same boy they have been beating for the last three weeks.

Being a member of the boxing club of the school, he took a boxing stance and started jumping up and down. He rushed and threw a couple of punches at Alex, but Alex saw all of them coming and easily dodged them.

He landed a kick on the boy’s thighs and as he kneels in pain and grabbed his leg, Alex slapped him so hard that his face immediately swell up, he grabbed him by the hair all the way to one of the stalls in the restroom and dipped his head in the toilet bowl, then he dragged him back to where the rest of the three of them were lying in pain and dropped him.

He towered over them with an absolutely evil expression on his face and said with a wicked voice.

“Now, beg me for mercy before I start round two of beating the shit out of you lots!”

Instantly, the four of them started begging him to spare them. They were promising never to bully him again and will never get in his way ever again.

Instantly, a system window popped again in his vision.

Quick mission passed.

Alex could feel the slight difference in his strength already.

He closed the window, took a photo of them beaten, drenched in piss and posted it in the class’ group chat. He walked out of the restroom to meet Shin at the entrance, his classmate who is also bullied by them, and looked in the eye.

“If they ever touch you again, just let me know. I will teach them a lesson. Also, get away from here.” He said to him and walked away without looking back.

“It is already break time, but I guess that does not matter because in exactly five days, the infernal rain happens and the apocalypse begins. I need to rank up faster and use all my past life knowledge to my advantage if I want to save Elise from the fate that awaits her. I will definitely change that future. Nemesis, the goddess of vengeance huh, I really appreciate the chance you have given me.” He said in his mind and headed straight for the school gates.

As soon as he stepped outside the school, he counted the fifth block and ran to it.

“I have to hurry up with this, there should be at least eight houses that fit the criteria for a fifth block from the school because the school is connected to four major roads, on each of the four are two blocks opposite of each other that can be said to be fifth blocks depending on how you count them. I have to check each of them! I want to finish this and go see Elise as soon as possible.” He thought as he ran to the house.

As soon as he arrived, he realized that it was a residential building. He entered the compound without any trouble by jumping the fence and went straight to the door. He opened it and went in, searched every corner of the building and realized there was no basement in the building. He rushed out immediately. But as he was running to the door, a woman from the building saw him jumping the fence and called the police to report it.

Alex went to the opposite building and realized the same thing: there was no basement in the building as well. With that he continued to the second road and searched the two houses there, still no luck with seeing any signs of a basement in any of the two buildings, the same thing for the third street he had gone to, he could not find any basement so he ran to the last of the four streets that are leading directly from the school compound.

Alex searched the first building, which was a residential apartment, by breaking in and searching it thoroughly, but this also gave him the same result, no basement or the girl Edith in any of the buildings.

Looking at the opposite building which he had just come out of, Alex read the sign on the top of the five storey-building that said ‘Metropolitan bank limited’ and shook his head, “did I read the instruction on the system window correct?” He questioned himself.

After looking through the window and realizing he has read it correctly, he started observed the bank carefully and saw that there are two guards at the entrance who have it will be hard for him to get in unless he can convince them that he has some business in the bank since he is wearing his school uniform.

“I guess there is no other choice than to give this a shot! I do recall the tragic death of Edith from my past life. Her body was found butchered and molested and the killer was never caught. If I have a chance to stop her death and deal with the serial killer, I will have to make use of it. Also, I don’t want nemesis to take away my eyesight.” He said and started walking across the road towards the bank.

At the gate, the security men immediately stopped him as soon as they saw him in uniform, knowing that there must be a lot of students who probably give them lots of hard times. He set his poker face and said.

“I am going in to cash in a deposit for a student savings account that I open recently. If you look here, you can verify it from the teller!” Alex said and reached through his back. When the two guards let their guard down for a brief moment, Alex took the chance and tapped them, hit them both in the neck with his index finger, striking their chi points and tranquilizing them.

“The effect only lasts for a minute each. I have to get in and find the basement before they wake up.” He said and ran straight through the door into the compound.

To Alex’s surprise, when he turned back, the guards have already recovered and are looking around for him, so he quickly ran further into the parking lot of the bank.

He saw some toilets and a small passageway that leads to the back of the building and followed it. After a few seconds, he was standing in front of a small section of the building where he saw a van with the Bank’s name and lots of cleaning equipment being dried in the sun.

“This has to be it!” he said and walked inside.

As soon as he opened the door, he saw even more cleaning equipment and as he looks around; he found a secret door that lead to the basement under the carpet of the room.

He grabbed a broom with a wooden handle and broke the broom’s head off, taking the wooden handle in with him as his weapon.

Once inside, the basement is divided into two distinct sections. A bright light is seeping from into the first section from the other section of the basement and he could hear the muffled cry of a young girl.

‘This is it!” he said to himself and rushed down there, kicking and breaking the door to meet Edith tied down inside a bathroom sink and to her side, a man in the bank’s cleaners uniform picking out assorted surgical instruments.

Alex took the advantage of his surprise entrance and hit the man in the head as hard as he could, making the wooden stick break and sending the serial killer to the floor in pain.

He rushed to Edith, who has been tied up and gagged with a piece of cloth. He pulled out her gag and started to unbound her hands when she shouted.

“Behind you!” and Alex quickly turned around. The man has stood back up and has picked a surgical blade in one hand and a dissecting scissors in the other.

The man attacked him immediately, cutting him a few times on the hand with the surgical blade and stabbing him on the shoulder with the scissor. Alex pulled out the scissor from his shoulder and put it to the pocket of his pants.

The man was looking around for a bigger weapon to attack Alex with when Alex jumped at him and with a kick to the groin and as soon as the man lowered his hands to hold his crotch in pain, Alex pulled out the scissor from his pocket and instantly stabbed the man in both eyes and effectively blinding him.

As the man fall on the floor screaming, Alex walked back to where Edith was and finished unbinding her hands and feet, he helped her stand up and realized that the man has pulled out a pistol from a box by the side of the basement a few steps from where they are.

Alex turned around and used hand sign to tell Edith not to take another step or make a sound.

He threw the scissor to another side of the room and the serial killer turned around and to that direction and fired the gun twice, during that time Alex bent down and picked the broken stick from before and threw it to the opposite side of the room and as the man turned around to shoot in the direction of the noise, Alex ran to him and grabbed the gun, he pointed it at the man’s face and pulled the trigger.

The serial killer fell to the ground, dead, and Alex immediately led Edith out of the basement. As soon as they were out of the basement, Edith looked at him and thanked him, and the status window popped up.

Alex finished checking his window and was about to leave when he realized that Edith is still standing and has not left.

“Are there not people looking for you? You are free now. As you have seen, he is dead and can’t hurt you anymore.” He said to her and in response, she shook her head.

“Both my parents are dead and my auntie is the one that took all of my inheritance and kicked me out to the streets where this man lied to me and kidnapped me, I don’t want to ever go back to her place because even if I do, she will not take me. I will rather go with you.” Edith said.

Alex was about to say no, but realized this could be his sister if he ever dies. Will he be happy if she asks for help and gets turned down? “Of course I will want for her to be helped.” He said to himself in his mind.

“You don’t even know my name, how I know you were there, or why I came to save you. But you are still willing to follow me?” Alex asked.

She cleaned the blood on her face from the serial killer beating her just before Alex rescued her. She looked Alex in the eye and said,

“I can tell that you are not a good person, people don’t believe me when in say this but in the last two days, I have been able to see the aura around people and for some reason you are the only one that does not have any, you also saved me so that is enough for me to trust you.” She said.

A new window quickly popped up on Alex’s sight.

Activating skill: Clairvoyance

 And as He stares at her, a small window appeared above her that said.

Name: Edith Grey

Skill: slight telepathy.

Alex smiled and said. “My journey is a not an easy one. It will be laborious and dangerous. You will risk your life by following me. Do you still want to do so?” And Edith answered “Yes I am!” without hesitation.

“Then let’s go Edith, we are going to pick my little sister from school before it the apocalypse happens. I know you don’t know what that is, but you will soon.” He said as the two of them walk towards the exit of the building.
