CHAPTER 4: The Receptionist

Soon, James took a taxi to the office building of Miller's organization.

This building that towered over the clouds was known as the number one Skyscraper in Sunshine.

Miller's organization and the other three listed companies were all among the international top 500 companies, and they were ranked in the top 10.

Furthermore, the business of Miller's organization involved a wide range of industries, including real estate, logistics, film, clothing, and so on.

The Miller family had owned or invested in most of the outstanding companies in this field.

In short, this family was wealthy.

As soon as James entered the hall, he saw a person that he was familiar with. It was Henry.

He was James' best friend over these years. After they both quit their previous jobs, Henry joined a delivery company and became a delivery man.

"Hen..." James was just about to call out to him when he saw a woman in a black suit dress reprimanding Henry.

"You have messed up my order, and you dare to ask me for a five-star rating. I'll lodge a complaint against you!" The receptionist named Sophia Smith had a sexy, curvy body that would arouse the men.

However, when James saw her ferocious face, he could not help but frown.

This woman was crazy, and her attitude made her less attractive.

"I'm... I'm sorry." Henry lowered his head like a child who had just caused trouble. "I accidentally fell on the way to deliver your meal. I... I didn't do it on purpose.

"How about this? I'll pay for it. Please don't complain about me, otherwise..."

"You will pay for it? Before Henry could finish his sentence, Sophia glared at him and interrupted him instantly. "Look at yourself! You are so shabby

Do you look like you can pay for it? You don't even deserve to compensate me!

"Let me tell you, I've seen a lot of losers like you. Stop acting pitiful here. You said you fell on the way here. Do you think I'm going to believe you? Go to hell! You bastard!"

James saw that Henry's pants were stained with blood on his knees. It seemed like the impact of his fall had injured him.

"Well." Sophia crossed her arms, raised her eyebrows, and sneered. "You want to apologize to me, right? I'll give you a chance. As long as you kneel and say sorry with respect, I'll let you go."

James could no longer bear it.

That was fucking too much! There must be something wrong with this woman. She was just making a fuss.

She was nothing more than a watchdog.

"Henry, don't do that!" At this moment, James immediately rushed up and pulled Henry behind him.

"James, what are you doing here?" As Henry saw James suddenly appear, his eyes widened in surprise.

I'll tell you later. Now, you have to go to the hospital and take care of your wound. I'll deal with this matter here." Henry had a feeling that James, who was in front of him at this moment, was different from before. He was quite confident.

"So," staring at this idiot who had appeared out of nowhere, Sophia fixed her fringe and sneered, saying to James, "Do you want to do it for your friend? Fine! If you are doing this, you'll have to kneel twice."

"I'll do it myself. I'll take responsibility for my mistake. My friend has nothing to do with it." As he said that, Henry was about to bend his legs.

Yet, at this moment, James suddenly snatched the food package and threw it at Sophia.

"Ah! You... How dare you threw that at me?" Sophia freaked out and stomped her high heels furiously.

"Now I'm the one who has to be responsible for it." James helped Henry up and pushed him out of the door. He whispered, Leave if you still regard me as your good friend."

James almost pushed Henry onto his motorcycle and forced him to leave.

"You damned delivery man, don't go!" Sophia took some tissues from the reception desk and wiped her suit dress with disdain. "I'm not done with you! You have to compensate for my clothes and shoes. Double pay!"

Seeing that Sophia dared to be so aggressive though she was just a receptionist, James thought there might be something wrong with Leo's management.

He would have a talk with Leo about this when he goes upstairs later.

"Miss put the matter of compensation aside for now. We'll talk about it later." As James spoke, he prepared to walk in. Yet, he was stopped by Sophia again.

"You damned delivery guy! How dare you barge into our company? Are you so shameless?" Sophia thought that this person was an unreasonable dummy.

James rolled his eyes and said coldly, I'm not a delivery man. I'm here to meet Leo Meyer.

Leo Meyer?

Just at this moment, a department manager happened to walk in from the outside. Hearing what James said, he couldn't help but mock, "Did you say that you wanted to meet our CEO?"

CEO?

James was stunned. He remembered that Leo had been Old Mr. Miller's butler and secretary. When did he become the CEO?

No wonder Leo dared to negotiate with him over the phone just now. It was because he had been promoted.

"You old bastard! Since you're the current CEO, I can't inherit my family business. After settling Ava's matter, I'll live back to my normal life," James thought.

Mr. Johnson, this guy is an idiot. Just ignore." Sophia, who was on one side, deliberately put on an act in front of the male manager. "I'll make a call and have someone chase him right away right now."

You don't even know who our CEO is, Mr. Johnson said politely and sarcastically. "Who are you trying to bully here?"

"Sophia," Mr. Johnson took a glance at his phone and said impatiently, "Don't waste your time on this person. Call the security and get them to kick him out as soon as possible."

"Okay, Mr. Johnson." Sophia nodded obediently. She reached out to pick up the telephone at the reception desk, preparing to make a call.

Suddenly, a voice was heard.
