Chapter 4 In the Private Wing

Reginaldo woke up in Lagoon City's famous General Hospital. After his car flipped over, he blacked out and couldn't remember anything else.

Now, when he opens his eyes, he finds himself wearing his blue hospital gown and quite comfortable in a hospital bed.

Very comfortable is the right word. Reginaldo wasn't on one of those hard gurneys or with those uncomfortable pillows. The blankets were warm and the room he was in was squeaky clean and smelled pleasantly of disinfectant.

It was then that the penny dropped.

Reginaldo was in the private wing!

But how did this happen? Did Mr. and Mrs. Ferreira feel sorry for their son-in-law and decided to give him the best treatment? Didn't they want journalists to discover their son-in-law among the poor patients?

Reginaldo didn't know. He just smiled and closed his eyes, wanting to rest as much as possible.

A few hours later, Reginaldo reopened his eyes when he heard footsteps. He thought a good-looking female nurse was coming to bring lunch.

However, it was such Reggie's surprise when he realized that, instead of a blonde, busty nurse, the visitor was a gray-haired gentleman in a black suit and tie!

The gentleman smiled when he saw Reginaldo awake, "Master, you're awake. You're safe and sound, finally!"

"What are you doing here, Anestor?" Reginaldo questions sharply.

"Master, please don't get carried away."

There was a multi-parameter monitor plugged into Reginaldo registering an increase in heart rate.

Reginaldo gets even more irritated, "What do you mean, not getting excited? I already got what's happening, how I ended up here."

"The news got around that you had an accident and of course, my boss ordered us to save your life," Anestor responds by sitting in the visitors' seat.

"I thought my in-laws took pity on me," Reginaldo grumbles, pouting.

Anestor chuckles, "Master always has ideas..."

"Watch how you talk to me, man!"

If Laura or Eduardo looked at Reginaldo now, they would go into shock. Who is this haughty Reginaldo who gives orders to employees and secretaries?

Anestor composes himself, "Master, your father believes that it's past time for you to stop playing at being independent and take on the mission you have."

"I'm not kidding. I came to Lagoon City, the Brazilian Los Angeles, to live like a normal person." Reginaldo counters.

Anestor wiggles, "Yes, and we are aware of how wonderful your life has been. Tell me, master, what is it like to be married to a woman without loving her and without having her respect?"

Reginaldo's heartbeat grows more out of control as he widens his eyes and gasps like a bull preparing for the blow, "Are you spying on me?"

At other times, Anestor would have been careful with the tone of his voice, but now he is speaking on equal terms with Reginaldo precisely to draw control and command power from within him.

The master Reginaldo Fabray that Anestor always knew would never accept being a son-in-law despised by his in-laws and would never have a mediocre life, financially supported by his wife who openly betrays him!

As such, Anestor replies, "Not exactly. My lord ordered them to look for you a year ago. Later, I was informed of what they discovered."

Reginaldo starts to get embarrassed, "I can say that they didn't have much to report to my father. I'm fine, my life is satisfactory. I'm married to the heiress of the Ferreira Hotel and I live in a big house with a nice swimming pool."

"Do you LIVE or CLEAN the mansion? How many domestic servants does this house have?" Anestor smiles sarcastically.

"We don't need servants," Reginaldo responds against his will.

"So the house isn't very big, it's not the size of a mansion, and it's your wife who does the housework."

Reginaldo heaves a sigh, "OK! Since you know, why deny it? I'm the one who does the cleaning. I didn't even come back to make Laura breakfast."

Anestor bursts out laughing. At other times he would be fired, but now... he's enjoying it!
