Chapter 6: The Accident

"Nagid was at a loss for words, unsure how to explain himself.

"Nagid," Cecilia began accusingly, "Did you plan this? You orchestrated everything, didn't you?"

Shocked, Nagid did not responded as she continued , "If you had told me that your wife wasn't giving you attention, I would have done something about it."

Cecilia blamed him for something he hadn't even done, and Nagid couldn't comprehend it. "So you think I planned this? And why would I do that? You think I would harm my own wife, the person I cherish above everything else?"

"You might want more attention, for her to care about you more," Cecilia suggested, clearly seeing things differently.

Nagid felt hurt by her words and responded, "So that's how you see things. Mother, I thought I meant family to you, but it seems I am still considered an outsider. You raised me, and you know me very well."

Desperately seeking an explanation, Nagid asked, "Then how do you explain how you knew about what happened before we went there?"

Emma, joining the conversation, demanded, "Yes, Nagid, tell us."

Surprised by her wife's  accusation, Nagid said, "Emma, you too?"

Nagid continued, "Well, I woke up earlier than usual. You know my window faces the garden, and I have a habit of standing at the window to look at the sunlight every morning. I noticed you were about to step on a banana peel, but something pushed you aside. I was so worried that I didn't see what saved you until I came to check on you—it was a fox."

Tony entered the room and overheard the last part of their conversation. Enraged, he exclaimed, "Cecilia, how can you say that about the son you raised?"

Surprisingly, Cecilia cried out, "Tony!"

Ignoring her, Tony continued, "Don't 'father' me. How can you not know the man you call your husband? Dad, I just wanted to k—"

Emma tried to explain herself, but Tony interrupted her, saying, "After everything he has done, you still don't trust him. Have you even considered him as family? I am ashamed of you two."

Tony then turned to Nagid and apologized, "I am sorry, my son. This is all my fault. I should have been here earlier."

"If only I had known, this wouldn't have happened," Nagid lamented.

"Forgive your mother and wife. They were just looking out for you," Tony advised.

Nagid sneered inwardly, realizing that he had always been blamed by them, even when he did nothing wrong. He felt they were trying to take advantage of him once again.

"I don't need to be angry with them," he said. "They said one thing right—I do need my wife's attention. But I wouldn't do anything to hurt her. I am not that wicked. However, you've made me realize now that I am just an outsider to all of you."

"I'm sorry if I'm being a bother. Excuse me," he said with a sorrowful face, and he left.

"Nagid... Nagid," Tony called after him, but he didn't respond and drove away in his car.

"I gave you a simple job, and you just ruined it. How can you take care of my company when I'm not around?" Tony scolded Emma angrily.

"As his wife, you should stand up for him always and not put the blame on him," he continued, leaving in a furious state.

"It's all your fault. Can't you be a little more tolerant with him? Must you blame him for everything?" Emma retorted, frustrated. "I don't want to go back to the slums. But if you want to go back so badly, please do so without causing problems for this family with your words."

Emma said these words angrily and left her mother alone.

"I've never liked him," Cecilia muttered. "The only thing good about him is his pretty face, nothing more."

Gold observed the situation and couldn't help but think, "These people are indeed a family of clowns."

As Nagid left the house, he drove straight to the office when he received a call. Glancing at his cellphone screen, he saw Emma's name but chose to ignore it, continuing to drive without picking it up. The phone continued to ring incessantly.

Just as he was about to answer the call, an incoming car was about to collide with his. In an attempt to avoid a fatal accident, Nagid swerved and directed his car into a large tree, causing the incoming car and truck to collide.

Although he narrowly escaped a deadly accident, Nagid was not in a good condition. He felt pain all over his body, and his vision became blurry. It seemed like he was about to pass out.

"Hey, are you okay?" a voice asked. "I will try to get you out, okay?"

Nagid heard the voice but couldn't muster the strength or energy to respond.

"Come on, the fire is starting. Please let me help you, or you will die," the voice urgently pleaded.

"I... I don't want to die," Nagid managed to say before losing consciousness completely.

With a strong pull, the person managed to remove the car door. "Hey, Mr., don't lose consciousness," they said. "Help me get you out of the car. The fuel is leaking, and you'll be burned if I don't get you out."

Nagid heard the voice with fading awareness, unable to respond.

At the hospital, the doctor informed a beautiful lady, "He is fine now. But are you his wife?"

The lady who saved Nagid's life replied, "No, I just happened to save him by mistake. And I think my work here is done."

The doctor requested her to wait until he wakes up, but she declined, stating that she couldn't stay as she wasn't a family member. She assured them that she had already paid for all his medical bills.

She left the hospital without caring about anything else. Just outside, she received a call, and as soon as she answered, a voice shouted at her, making her move the phone away from her ear.

"I had to attend to an emergency," she explained.

"An emergency as soon as you arrived?" the voice questioned.

"Anna, can't you take a break without any work?" she responded.

"I'm sorry, but it was an emergency," Anna explained.

The voice asked where she was, expressing concern. She replied that she was at the Silver Hospital and reassured the voice that she was fine and would explain everything once she got home. The voice sighed in relief and mentioned how worried her grandfather would be if something happened to her.

The lady insisted that she didn't need constant care, asserting that she was not a child. The voice expressed worry about the consequences if something happened to her, fearing her grandfather's reaction. The conversation ended with the voice saying they would come to pick her up and fulfill her request for shrimps and eels.

Anna playfully slapped herself in the face, teasingly mentioning that she couldn't go a day without seafood. She then left, taking a final glance at the hospital.

Nagid woke up shortly after Anna's departure. Confused about his surroundings, he wondered how he ended up in the hospital. Memories of the accident started flooding back, including the unfamiliar voice he had heard. He couldn't identify its owner.

The doctor entered the room, relieved to see Nagid awake. He informed him that he had been unconscious for an hour and asked if he had any family members to call.

Nagid replied, "No." He then inquired about the person who brought him to the hospital.

"That was a beautiful young lady," the doctor replied. "You are one lucky guy. If it hadn't been for her, you would have died in the car. The car exploded as soon as she took you out."

"She?" Nagid asked.

"Yes, the one who saved you was a woman," the doctor confirmed.

"Was she still here?" Nagid inquired.

"No, she has already left," the doctor informed him.

Nagid asked if she left any name, but the doctor replied that she hadn't. He advised Nagid to rest, as his body was exhausted.

Nagid thought about how he almost lost his second chance at life and felt indebted to the woman who saved him. He was drawn to her voice, but he didn't know where to find her. Nevertheless, he was determined to locate her and express his gratitude.
