9. Jailed

Things happened very fast. Floyd didn't know what he was going to do. All he wanted was to talk to his ex-girlfriend so that they could get back together. But here he is now being dragged off the court by the bullies. He even saw Roxane wailing while being hugged by her companions.

"No! Let me go!” He tried to break their grip on him but the police only reprimanded him.

"Stop resisting! It will only stress you out more!”

“But I didn’t do anything!”

On the other hand, Trace rushed to the scene. When he hears that someone tried to rape Roxane, he knows that it was Floyd. And there he saw Floyd being dragged by the police.

“Floyd!” Trace approached them. “Wait, sir. Where will you bring him?”

“Trace. Please! Help me! Tell them I can’t do it to Roxane!” Floyd begged.

Trace looked at the police in confusion. "Sir. There must have been a mistake.”

"Excuse me, sir. But we must bring him to the police station. There he can appeal what happened when he has an attorney."

“But Floy is not–”

"Do you know him? Are you the one who let him in here?” the police suddenly asked Trace.

The two friends looked at each other. Floyd swallowed hard and shook his head. "N-No, sir. I came here alone because I want to talk with Roxane. I didn't do it! You should believe me!”

The policeman shook his head. "Let's go." They pulled Floyd again.

"I will follow you!" said Trace.

Floyd just nodded and started walking out of the place. He saw angry eyes looking at him. He couldn't help but feel diminished because of what happened. Why did this happen? How did Roxane do that? Does she really hate him that much to reach this point?

Floyd was in tears while thinking about the events. He was suddenly confused by what was happening. When he got on the police mobile, it didn't take long and he was driven away from the area.

Inside the police station, Floyd was first taken to the detention room and waited there. As time passed, he gradually lost hope. There was a man who came in who was not wearing the uniform of the police but he was seen placing a badge on the table and a laptop. He introduced himself as a detective who will investigate the incident.

"What is your name, sir?" he asked while looking at the laptop.

Floyd tasted it. "Johson Floyd Soriano."

"How old are you?"

"What is this? I did nothing wrong, sir. I didn't rape Roxane! She is a girlfriend!”

The man stopped and looked at her. "I don't think so. Why did you do it?"

"What? I didn't do anything to her. Believe it! I have friends who will vouch that I will never do that to Roxane!”

"But are they in the scene?"

Floyd was stunned. “I thought you were here to investigate what happened? Why do you seem to be pressuring me?"

“Calm down, sir. Let’s just go with the process.”

Floyd gasped for air. “No. I will not talk until I have an attorney.”

“Just tell me the information I need.”

“I said, I will not say a word until I have an attorney!”

“Wow? Okay.”

Floyd looked away annoyed. He patted his head and combed his hair. He didn't even know how he was going to get out now. The detective he was talking to didn't stay in the room for long because even though he kept asking him questions, he didn't speak again. He left inside again and Floyd was alone. A few moments later the door opened again and Trace entered. Floyd stood up and suddenly felt relieved to see his friend. Floyd sat across from him.

"What happened?" Trace asked worriedly.

“Do you know if I could get out tonight?”

“I don’t think that’s possible. Dwayne is here now in the country. For sure, later. They’ll be here.”

“So what? I didn’t do anything to Roxane!”

“Can you tell me what really happened?”

Floyd sighed. “We were talking. I am trying to convince her. I said sorry and such. But Roxane was firm in her decision. She was pushing me away then she just started ripping her clothes!”

Trace froze. He did not immediately answer what his friend said. He cannot believe that Roxane can do it! Yes, he believes what Floyd says more because he knows his friend.

"Shit! I already told you. Talking with her is not right!”

Floyd's tears immediately fell to the side. "W-What should I do now, Trace? Can you talk to Roxane?”

"I doubt it. No one can get near Roxane now. Don't worry. I'm already talking with the attorneys I know. I will help you. You don't deserve this, Floyd."

“Thank you, Trace. I don't know what to do if you're not here."

Trace shook his head and looked sadly at his friend. He couldn't help but feel sorry for what was happening to his friend. Floyd is a very good man. He is a witness to her hard work so he cannot accept that this is what is happening here.

"It just is. Wait for us. I know Dwayne will come here. I heard it. Don't be intimidated, okay? We will fight for your rights.”

Floyd nodded. He just burst into tears of self-pity. Trace left soon after. Floyd still remained inside the detention room. Someone brought him food that night which he immediately consumed. As early as noon, his stomach was cramping.

But the night has passed. One more day he still stayed at the station. He was transferred to the cell where the other prisoners were. But as the police were escorting him, he saw Dwayne with a man in a suit talking to the police. They even look his way and look satisfied. At that point, Floyd already knew what happened.

Someone went to his attorney but they only asked him for a statement and then they never came back. Even his family came to help him but nothing happened. He doesn't know if fate is just testing him or if this is what Roxane wants to happen to him. As time goes on, he gradually sees how bad the woman he loves is.

"What should we do now?" Floyd's mother asked worriedly. They are at the station again and visiting Floyd. Trace and Raquel were also there who were friends of Floyd.

"I'm sorry, Aunt. I tried to find another attorney but they are all not helping us. And we can't afford some. I have a strong feeling that Dwayne did this," Trace said.

"But they can't lock Floyd up! How many days has he been here!” said Raquel.

Floyd's mother cried. "My god! Have mercy on my son!” He hugged Floyd.

Floyd smirked. "God? I don't think he can hear us anymore."

“Floyd. Do not lose hope.”

"How, Raquel? You can see what is happening. I heard from the police that I was going to be transferred to a cell."

"Really?" Trace asked in shock. "They can't do that! There isn't even a trial going on!”

Floyd stood up. "You'd better leave. There is nothing more we can do. Best we should accept this shit happening to my life.”

"No, son. We will do everything–”

"Go home, mom." Floyd looked at them one by one. "Thank you for your efforts. But I think this is it. Just forget about me.”

Floyd turned his back on them and slumped his shoulders as he walked towards the police on the side. His parents and Raquel called him but he didn't look at them. Only now does he accept it. There was nothing he could do.

Now, he can see why Roxane chose Dwayne. He has money. He could throw someone and let them root in jail if he wants to. What else could he do? There is nothing for him to return to outside. But as he entered inside, the anger in his chest gradually built up. He will never forget what Roxane and Dwayne did to him.
