Chapter 4: Repaying the beautiful landlady.

Constantine radiated an intense killing intent. His mouth had curved up into a sinister smile.

Who the hell did this fool think he was?

Constantine ignored the screams Aubrey's ex husband was letting out. He only tightened his grip on the hand he had captured.

He would make sure that John wouldn't use his hand again.

Con felt someone touching him softly and he turned to catch the panic in Aubrey's eyes.

She didn't want him to hurt her dumb ex husband too much. Constantine let out a resigned sigh and threw John back.

No one expected him to go flying into the wall!

John hit the wall with a thud and he felt his spine let out a sound.

What the hell!

He raised his head to look at the insolent son of a bitch that had caught his hand and almost broken it. The look Constantine returned made him feel that chill go up his spine again.

John looked to his body guards.

"Is it until he kills me that you'll do something. Attack him you fools!"

Constantine only smiled as the six men approached him.

He moved and in a flash they were all on the floor. They hadn't even seen him coming.

Constantine grabbed one by his neck and threw him over the wooden railing. The man screamed and flailed his hands as he went down to the floor of the living room. The layout of the house was that of an old Victorian style home.

Aubrey had her eyes wide and she watched as John's men tried to hit Constantine, and failed.

Con moved like the wind.

His movements were practiced and  sleek. He didn't hesitate.

He didn't think twice before he hit anyone.

Aubrey would have been screaming at the sight of violence, but this didn't look like violence. It looked like a dance.

A dance of pain and punches.

John's men were receiving a beating.

She clasped a hand over her mouth as Constantine tipped yet another man over the wooden railing that bordered the third floor. The man screamed as he fell and Aubrey felt like laughing at how that scream sounded so ladylike.

John looked so baffled.

He couldn't understand what was happening.

There was blood on his men but it was their blood. Aubrey's lowlife monster had bashed them against each other, using them to deal injuries on each other and making a total mockery of the professional and trained guards he had hired to protect him.

Against this man they could hardly protect themselves!

No one had to tell John to run.

He took one look at four of his men on the floor, writhing in pain and leaking blood from different parts of their face, and he ran.

He practically stumbled halfway down the first flight of stairs and fell down the rest.

His face was sheet white as he ran out of the house, like he had seen a ghost and he couldn't speak about what his eyes had seen.

Con didn't even have to do too much after that.

The rest of the guards got up like their asses had been set on fire when they felt the eyes of someone on them, someone they considered to be the devil himself at this point.

They half fell-half ran down the stairs and Aubrey watched it all with wonder in her eyes.

Not a drop of blood was on Constantine. His shirt didn't even look rumpled.

Con only smiled at her and politely offered her his hand.

She took it without hesitation and followed him down the stairs.

They walked out the door together just in time to see John and his men getting into their cars and driving off like a monster was after them.

The smile on Aubrey's face was enough to make any man want to be at her beck and call forever.  She looked incredulous as well as she did happy.

Her mouth was slightly open and her eyes contained a new found wonder. She looked at her tenant and she couldn't help the slight tear that fell off her cheek.

"Thank you. Thank you so much."

Aubrey had started crying and Con could tell that she had gotten emotional. He did the only thing he could do in this situation.

He walked over to her and pulled her into a hug.

"You don't need to mention it. You're my landlady. I can't stand by and watch anyone just bully you."

Aubrey was caught by surprise, both by his action and his statement.

She didn't pull away though. Constantine radiated this feeling of warmth and security that she needed at the moment.

"Thank you. I can't say how much i appreciate this."

Con could only nod his head and smile. Considering the fact that he had been peeping on her whenever she took her bath for a while now, protecting her from her trash husband was the least he could do.

Plus, protecting a beauty was like doing charity work, he was doing it for the betterment of the society.

While Con had these thoughts running through his head, Aubrey was faced with an unexpected challenge.

Her tenant had an amazing scent. One that made her brain think a million different thoughts at the same time. He smelt slightly spicy. Spicy and alluring. Aubrey backed off like she had burnt herself and Con looked at her confused.

"Is there any problem?"

She only shook her head and smiled at him.

"No, nothing."

She looked nervous.

"Um.. thank you again for what you did back there. I'll be heading off to work now. I'll treat you to dinner sometime yeah?"

Con only smiled softly at her and nodded his head. He watched as she got into her car and backed up to drive out of the gate.

Con checked his watch and saw that it was few minutes past nine thirty. He needed to get a new watch. This one wasn't digital.

The turn of events he just experienced this morning made him feel better though.

He had never really spoken to his landlady before, but now he had and he had even hugger her too. She had also returned the hug even.

Constantine inwardly thanked John and his stupid men for showing up as he made his way to work.

Many people watched him as he walked past. Con wasn't by any means the most handsome man, but he was still a remarkably handsome man, remarkable enough to get some beauties to wink at him back when he winked at them.

Some of them rolled their eyes and giggled coyly.

Con let out a content "Ah."

Life was good as a normal man.
