01 Wild Wild Country
Niobe and Felix glided low in the air, just above the topmost foliage of the trees. The two were riding pegasi—winged stallions reared at Mt. Radomir. They were hunting a herd of white devil-boars this evening. Niobe's pegasus was a double-striped black, while Felix's was a brown-white. They were roughly twelve miles outside the border walls of Theikos. It was a bold venture into the dangerous outlands, even for game hunters, especially since it was only the two of them out there. "Cura, take me!" Niobe screamed the goddess's name in joy over the deafening beating of wings. "This is amazing!" "Let us go hunting together in the evening… You know… Just the two of us," she had suggested to Felix in the morning. "I am tired of party hunts. A god-prime always watches over us, and we don't even get to flirt with each other." The Ascendancy Divine Government ruled over the mortal population of Theikos. The government members were categorized into princeps, priors, primes, and titans b
02 Bird Problems
The double-striped black pegasus tried to get on its hooves. It failed and instead keeled over on its forelegs, neighing in agony. The collision and fall had shattered its ribs. The right wing was missing, probably stuck on a branch. Moreover, a large pine tree had fallen over its back. Niobe got to her feet and approached her pegasus. She lifted the heavy branch effortlessly with one hand and hurled it into the distance. The creature neighed in mortal pain. The pegasus is a majestic beast, a ride befitting the gods and goddesses. However, there it was, suffering like any other inferior creature. "Mortals,' Niobe said, rolling her eyes. "They make a lot of noise. I hate them." "Stiletto," she chanted, and a dagger appeared in her hand. She pulled the creature's head back and cut a fissure on its neck from end to end. Blood gushed out like a stream, forming a shallow pool on the grass. It was better to put the beast out of its misery than leave it dying in the wild. There were v
03 Coitus Interruptus
Niobe and Felix were locked in an amorous embrace, unclothed, female over male, goddess over god. Their lips overlapped, their tongues jousted. Niobe's pelvis grinding over Felix rubbed against his erection, making him moan. It happened without warning. Only a few minutes had passed, and she was dripping wet. Felix's erection slipped, found the mark, and the penetration occurred abruptly. Both gasped in unison into the darkness. Niobe was louder, unwinding years of chastity, bellowing into the wilderness. Then she bounced up and down on him. She was haphazard at first, but then slowed herself to a pleasurable tempo. The forest had come alive around them—insects chittering, sleeping birds awakening, and animals responding to their rhythm. Niobe tilted her head back and rode Felix faster, who found a deeper inroad into her. He went deeper and harder. In response, her pupils set aflame, and her skin gleamed like gold. The goddess's moans echoed sonorously in the clearing and beyond.
04 Power of a Goddess
Niobe and Felix exchanged glances. The Bibliotheca mandated that gods face their challengers instead of dodging them. It was time to bring out the big guns. "Aegis," the duo announced together. With a series of cling clangs, golden, adamantine armor appeared on their bodies—helmets, breastplates, cingulum skirts, and greaves. The junior gods already had divine protection from their respective houses. However, for battles, special clothing was needed. No physical damage could penetrate adamantine armor. The most powerful attacks would be nullified or their impacts drastically reduced. "FAL-SE GO-DS MU-ST DIE!" Their rocky adversary was quite agile for its enormous size. It rushed towards them at breakneck speed. The red haze within it streaked ominously, casting a haunting aurora over the clearing. Felix's heart sank. Something was definitely wrong. Why was Niobe not scared? Couldn't they retreat into the forest and plan an attack? Or was it goddess pride that prevented her from th
05 Nectar of the Gods
The goddess paused, furrowed her brows, and raised her arms to examine them. It was then that her heart froze. Niobe's beautiful, toned arms were slathered with some sort of fluid. The ooze glowed red, spreading from her fists to her lower arms, finally dripping down to the elbows. "What in the name of Hera is this?" she exclaimed in panic. Her question was answered immediately when the pain came to her. Crackle! It burned through Niobe's skin, flesh, and bones like magma. A scream escaped her, one with so much agony that it sent shivers up Felix's spine. The young god stared at his lover in disbelief. He could no longer recognize her voice, mannerisms, or body language. The sweet-talking, vivacious goddess was braying helplessly without a hint of grace. On her end, Niobe had never felt pain like that before. She screamed her heart out, praying the miasma on her arms would go away. She shook, wiped, and snapped, but it stayed with her, like mud that had come alive. Amid her heart
06 Desperate Prayer
As the lava golem approached Niobe, she went mute and motionless, pincered by her emotions. Mortal fear and crippling loss mingled into a toxic mixture, debilitating the woman. "It is my fault that Felix is dead," she wailed. "I brought him to the middle of nowhere. He followed me blindly because of love and trust, but I could not protect him." Niobe raised her trembling chin to the monstrous hulk plodding towards her like the god of death. "Am I going to die as well?" Humans facing death and destruction often turn to gods, kneeling in prayer to have their grace and protection. What does a god faced with mortality do? Did the Ascendancy lie to her about immortality? "What should I do, Felix?" she cried at his headless corpse. "Shall I accept my end readily, or must I resist till the last moment like a cornered animal? Will I disgrace the gods either way?" "I love you," Felix's ethereal voice sounded in her head. The young god really loved her and gave up his life without a second
07 Divine Intervention
Spiritually connected to the members, the Titanide heard Niobe's prayer for help and arrived in the crack of time. She surveyed the clearing with riveted attention. Elektra's eyes were vortices of ghastly light. Streaks of blue-white sparks crackled throughout her body. She donned an armor of platinum-gold. Right now, the titanide's hair was white as day. It almost stood on end, charged by the divine energy coursing through her body. Elektra, having completed her survey of the situation, walked over to Niobe and placed a hand over the girl's head. "I am here, child," she reassured her ward. "Your prayer was heard. You must fear no more." Niobe started sobbing hysterically. "Your Providence, that thing killed Felix. Bit his head off like a monster! Its poison took my hands! I was helpless!" "Justice will be served, my dear," Elektra said, interested neither in Niobe's bursting emotions nor in the dire situation. It seemed she wanted to wrap things up as soon as possible. The tita
08 A Tryst with Destiny~ Felicity
Felicity walked daintily between the two young men. In her dreams, they looked like boys, while they were mature for their ages in person. One of them, in a workman’s white tunic, was almost a foot taller than her. The other was about her height, in dark attire. The sun had nearly set, painting the skies with a red haze. An idle breeze blew from the east. Felicity’s hood was down, and her blonde hair danced around like streamers. It was a captivating sight to behold. Both men stole constant glances out of the corner of their eyes. However, Felicity did not feel uncomfortable. She had wanted this for a long time now- to be around the two men from her dreams. A needle-like smile rested on her lips. The girl had a quirk for drawing the attention of men. It was not just her enchanting beauty that was alluring. From the day she first bled, men had started noticing her increasingly. It was not the warm-hearted consideration that citizens of Fugi were known for. Men approach
09 Fortune Favors the Dead
Felicity was lucky. If she, as little as stumbled, there was someone or something to give her support. Something always broke her fall when she tumbled down while climbing trees. Her lost jewelry always found its way back to her. Of course, her good fortune went way beyond such trivial relief. Nevertheless, she had never dared to tempt fate. Tarsus walked on silently. It seemed to Felicity that he was not one to talk much unless it was necessary. Unlike Damon, he had not raised a single question. “I am having trouble believing anything you say,” Damon asserted. “You are a beautiful damsel that I cannot deny. However, I will not spill any facts about my abilities.”“I know of them already.”“What?” Damon turned to Tarsus.” Yasou, beanstalk! Did you hear what she said? Do you trust this witch?”“I believe her, runt.”“This is so endearing,” Felicity chimed in, “The two of you have nicknames for each other already.”“Then go ahead and tell the girl your abilities

“Why is this happening to us? What did we do?” Damon grumbled.“There are some entities which are not very happy with our union,” Felicity explained. “What entities?”“Dark ones.”“Can I apologize to these dark entities and leave?”‘It is too late.” “I can see that!” Damon snapped. “They do not appear open for negotiation. What do we do? Fight? First of all, it is too dark. Let me see what I can do about that.”Damon wiggled his fingers, and two flaming torches appeared in his hands. He cast them in two directions to light up the surroundings. The creatures recoiled at the sudden radiance. Raspy growls and furious snarls followed. ‘Their numbers could be between a hundred and two hundred,’ Damon estimated. They circled the torches, which were soon extinguished as the brutes punted soil on them. With darkness resumed, they formed a circle and closed in.“I did not expect them to be this clever and organized,” Damon complained, embarrassed by his fail
