Chapter 69: Carter's Disappearance {pt. 2}
Carter's POV I woke up in an abandoned amusement park, not too far from where the school was. And for a minute or two, I just stayed there confused. Confused as to how I ended up getting here. Then I remembered. It all came flowing back to me, like a tidal wave crashing against the shores of my consciousness. It felt as if a floodgate had opened up in my mind. I had been dragged away from the door, and was about to do something reckless, but then... something happened. I was knocked out and somehow I ended up here. I checked the time on my wrist watch, and it displayed 7:37. Two whole hours had gone past since the time of my abduction. I knew this because I glanced at the large wall clock mounted on the east side of the room which we were in. Were we all evacuated from the room. I thought. Or was it that I was the only one who was teleported to this place... and for what reason? If that was the case then, why would anyone want to teleport just me in the midst of such chaos?
Chapter 70: I have to find Kyle
Carter's POV The days turned into weeks, and Kyle became an obsession. Not in a typical way, but in a way that gnawed at the edges of my mind, threatening to take over every waking thought. I couldn’t stop thinking about him—the way he stood in the face of danger, unflinching, the way he protected people without hesitation, even when it seemed like no one cared for him. There were times, in the dead of night, when I would catch myself replaying the look in his eyes—the look he gave me as I was dragged away from the door. It was as if he had known, deep down, that I wouldn't make it in time. That I would be just like everyone else—helpless, unwilling to fight for someone who wasn’t worth fighting for. But I wasn't helpless anymore. Not anymore. I began following him. At first, it was just a casual thing—watching him from a distance. A glance here, a glimpse there, as he walked through the halls of the school. But soon, it became more deliberate. I needed to know where he was going,
Chapter 71: About That...
"What are you doing!?" A student that was walking past Kyle could not help but scream as Kyle suddenly grabbed her arm. "L—Let go of her, you freak!" "What., what are you doing?" "Huh...?" And as the student and her friend sereamed and asked-Kyle was also screaming in his mind and asking the same. What was he doing? Why was he suddenly holding this girl's arm? Was he trying to get bullied again? "..." Kyle then quickly turned to look at the window... before pulling the girl toward him, wrapping his arms around her as he pushed her and himself to the floor. "Hey! The girl's friend screamed, "Let go of he-Erk...?" And before the girl's friend could finish her words, a sharp blade suddenly pierced through her neck. " ...Eh?" The window then shattered as a woman leaped through from the outside, no... not a woman, a spider. An arachne-one of her sharp legs, actually the blade that was pierced through the student's neck. "B—Brittany? No!" *** Both Kyle and Cart
Chapter 72: Just Show Up
"I killed them." Kyle said, his voice firm. "Every last one of them and you know what?" "..." "I don't feel a single shred of guilt or pity for them." Kyle added looking toward the ceiling. For a moment Carter sat backwards, staring at Kyle in awe, mouth agape. Her eyes locked onto his, searching for something - remorse, justification, or perhaps a glimmer of humanity. But all she saw was a calm, unyielding determination that unsettled her. The words hung in the air like a challenge, daring her to respond. Carter's mind reeled as she tried to process the weight of Kyle's admission. She felt like she was staring at a stranger, yet the familiarity of his features only made it more jarring. As the silence stretched on, Carter's thoughts swirled with memories of the past, of Annie, of the events that had transpired. However, her surprise wasn't because Kyle killed the people back then in that room, including her friend, Annie. Well, ex-friend anyways. After all, she'd su
Chapter 73: New
Kyle got up from the bed right after Carter left the room. He usually did some push up rounds whenever he woke up in the mornings, but today he felt kind of tired based on the events of the previous night. Taking in deep sigh, he walked up to the closet and took out a sweat shirt. Kyle was about to put on the sweat shirt but then stopped in his tracks. He stopped because he caught a glimpse of his now improved body. And being someone who hardly took time to inspect his body he had no idea of the growth it was experiencing. Kyle's eyes could really only gleam with a newfound intensity, as if the physical transformation had somehow honed his entire being. Aside from acquiring a few new abilities, his body had drastically changed. And for a while he just stared at the mirror in the closet. His muscles had gone from being lanky to the exact opposite. His abs now seemed like something that was carved out of fine stone by some famous architect. His face well chiseled and sculpt
Chapter 74: What In The Name Of!?
The word LABORATORY was boldly etched in matte black across the concrete wall of the building ahead, standing out against the pale steel-gray structure like a warning. It wasn’t welcoming—most things in this facility weren’t—but it meant he was in the right place. His half-sister, Sophie Wolfe, was almost certainly inside. And since he had questions—far too many questions—it only made sense to go to her. They hadn't spoken properly in months. Maybe longer. Their relationship was strained at best, a polite nod in corridors, the occasional terse exchange in meetings. Still, Sophie had designed the Raid Devices from scratch. If anyone could explain why his own device was behaving so... differently, it was her. But he couldn’t be too direct. That would be a mistake. Raising flags now—especially in front of Sophie—would almost certainly land him under observation. Tests. Monitoring. Maybe worse. He couldn’t afford that. Not now. Not with the way his power was evolving. His Power Type did
Chapter 75: Hot Half-sister
Nothing prepared Kyle's eyes for what they saw next. What in the name of Zeus did he just see!? Kyle thought as he was instantly taken aback by what his eyes met. Kyle's half-sister, Sophie was just shirtless!! She wore absolutely nothing underneath. No bra or whatever... her upper body was just bare! Kyle could see the outline of her bosoms from behind, as she stood with her back to him. And with what he was currently seeing, there was hardly any difference between her and the hour glass. The outline of her figure was unmistakable—graceful, balanced. He could see it all clearly, thanks to the mirrored closet in front of her Sophie was so freaking hot and Kyle could really not help but take in a few gulps as he exclaimed inwardly. What was he doing here? Sophie thought to herself. And was it just her or was he becoming hotter and more handsome every minute? Yeah, he'd changed a lot after his awakening but he was way more handsome than he had been the last time she saw him.

Chapter 76: Who The Fvck Is She?
Kyle left his half sister's lab and took the elevator back down. He got out of the laboratory building and then headed to the Canteen which was currently where Carter would be waiting for him. He brought out his mobile phone and checked the time. The time displayed 00:11. "Eleven already, huh?" He muttered to himself as he put the phone back into his pocket. He hadn't meant to spend much time talking to Sophie. They both hadn't been on the best of terms for a long time now, but ultimately their conversation today was kind of fluid. No hatred. Blames or even unforgiven grudges. There were both adults now—him twenty one and she eighteen—and things was a bit different now than back then, thanks to his awakening, so maybe that was why it seemed that way. He had gotten his answers about the Raid Devices, now—more than he thought he'd even get since he was initially being careful not to disclose too much to Sophie. He couldn't quite trust anyone with such information, not now
Chapter 77: Sam's Apartment {pt. 1}
Kyle's POV It usually took about an hour to drive down from the Fourth Division base to Sam's apartment, which was tucked into the heart of the city. But since we didn’t take any military vehicles, Carter and I would have to get there by rail. This was because getting to the city by rail was more faster and convenient—though we'd however, have to take a taxi down to the train station first, which wasn't too far out from the base. Traveling by train was faster and more discreet. The rail system had become the backbone of inter-district movement, especially since the Portals began appearing. Still, it meant first grabbing a taxi to the station outside the base perimeter. It was not far, but was just enough to be annoying. Due to random and constant appearance of Portals all over the country, majority of the state roads are either destroyed and under repairs or out of commission. Some highways were barricaded, others crumbled into overgrowth and silence. The Division had rerout
