Chapter 70: I have to find Kyle
Carter's POV The days turned into weeks, and Kyle became an obsession. Not in a typical way, but in a way that gnawed at the edges of my mind, threatening to take over every waking thought. Carter's POV I woke up in an abandoned amusement park, not too far from where the school was. And for a minute or two, I just stayed there confused. Confused as to how I ended up getting here. Then I remembered. It all came flowing back to me, like a tidal wave crashing against the shores of my consciousness. It felt as if a floodgate had opened up in my mind. I had been dragged away from the door, and was about to do something reckless, but then... something happened. I was knocked out and somehow I ended up here. I checked the time on my wrist watch, and it displayed 7:37. Two whole hours had gone past since the time of my abduction. I knew this because I glanced at the large wall clock mounted on the east side of the room which we were in. Were we all evacuated from the room. I thought. Or was it that I was the only one who was teleported to this place... and for what reason? If that was the case then, why would anyone want to teleport just me in the midst of such chaos?

Carter's POV "Let me go! Let— Let me go!" I shouted as I struggled against the restraints, desperate to break free. "I have to help him!" The silence that followed was oppressive, and everyone's eyes widened as they heard the unmistakable sound of Arachnes being slaughtered. The air was thick with tension, the moment hanging suspended like a breath held in anticipation. Carter's lips then parted slightly, as if she was about to say something, but no words came out. Instead, she reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair out of Kyle's face, her fingers grazing his skin. The touch sent shivers down her own spine, and she felt her heart racing in her chest. "!!!" And then suddenly, Kyle scooped her into his arms, lifting her off the floor and into his room.
