Quin had his eyes on the two men, but when they saw that he wasn’t ready to listen to them, they turned to face Lady Xerxes.“Lady Xerxes?! I beg you! Don’t send us out of this company!” Leo begged, but the men came and picked him up together with Robert. They were sent out of the company forcefully by the guards, and Quin stood where he was with his hands folded while he smiled victoriously. Lady Xerxes walked up t him. She was very curious to know what he had done to reverse the situation.“What did you do? How did you get them to lose their shares?” She asked, and Quin chuckled softly. “I told you to trust me, and I am glad you did. Now that they are out of the way, I am sure you will know peace.” “You still haven’t answered the question. Did you know about the investor? Who is he?” Lady Xerxes checked her phone to see who the new investor was.“Mr. X?” She said inquisitively, turning to face Quin. “Who is he?” She asked, taking a step closer to Quin. “Mr. X is a friend of mine

Quin felt pity for his friend, and he was ready to help him.“Don’t worry, my friend. I will make sure nothing happens to her. Wipe the tears from your face and take me to her.” He consoled the General, who nodded with so much gladness. “We have to hurry, they are about to take her to the hospital.”“No! Tell them to leave her at home till I arrive. Any sudden movement could cost her life.” Quin warned, and Micah made a call across to make sure that what Quin said was done. They hurried into the car that the General came with, and then he drove them to his mansion at once. He was sweating throughout the ride, and Quin could feel the tension building up inside his body. He couldn’t stop his hands from shaking while he held onto the steering wheel. He stepped out of the vehicle as soon as they arrived and headed into the mansion while Quin followed him behind. From a distance, they could hear the sound of his wife Anne screaming in pain, and this made him run like his life depended o

She was Anne’s mother, Leah. Things didn’t go so well the last time they saw each other, and Leah meant the words she said.“Now is not the time, Mrs. Zane. Quin is here to help your daughter. He is here to help Anne.”“I want him gone! The last time he was here, she almost died!” Leah fired. She was furious as she thought about the memories she had been trying so hard to forget. “That was five years ago, Mrs. Zane. That was when Chloe was born, and you can’t blame him for trying to help. Anne’s condition had already gotten worse by the time he arrived.” Micah was trying all he could to make the woman calm, but all she had for Quin was disapproval. “Tell him to leave, Micah. I won’t risk my daughter’s life again.” Leah fumed angrily, pointing at Quin, who sighed softly.“Why do you want to punish your daughter because of the hatred you have for me? It wasn’t my fault that the Doctor you called failed to examine her properly before giving her those injections,” Quin spoke so calmly,

Quin had his eyes on the door, hoping that Micah was going to come back at that moment because he had everything he needed to attend to Anne. If only he knew how bad her situation was, he could have come with the items himself, but he was the only one who could make the right observations, and no one else. “What do we do to stop her from shaking?! I don’t want her to die!” Leah cried out with tears almost dropping from her eyes, but Quin had nothing to say.“Look at me, baby! I am here for you!” Leah grabbed Anne’s head and tried to stop it from shaking, but all her efforts were to no avail. She couldn’t even get Anne to open her eyes while she continued shaking and rolling from one side of the bed to the other. Before long, she started to vomit blood, and Leah gasped so loudly that the servants outside hurried into the room to see their mistress coughing blood. Quin moved to Anne, and that was the first time Leah eagerly stepped out of the way without asking any questions. He ex

Anne could no longer hold on any longer. The pain was excruciating, and she had almost used up all her strength. But she had to continue even when she didn’t think she was going to survive. She collapsed again, but the baby was already out. The first cry from him filled the air as Quin carried him carefully with both hands.“Oh my God! That’s my son!” Micah gasped the moment he set his eyes on the baby, as soon as he heard his cry.“That’s a boy!” Leah stood up and walked up to carry the child, but Quin refused to hand him over and went into the bathroom to clean him up.He returned a few minutes later with the baby carefully wrapped in a white towel he found in the bathroom.“Anne?! Wake up! The baby is alive!” Micah was on his knees just beside his wife, but she refused to respond to all his efforts to get her to wake up.“She is not breathing!” He said after pressing his head against her chest. He caused another round of anxiety, and Leah rushed to grab her daughter.“What have you

Anne and the rest of the people standing in the room had their eyes on both Quin and Micah, wondering what the Doctor wanted to say to him.Quin was silent for a while, it was very obvious that what he wanted to say was not going to sound very good to Micah. “What is it?” Micah was very curious to know what he had to say.Quin cleared his throat, and after taking a glimpse at Micah’s wife and children, he proceeded to tell him what he had in mind.“Your wife can no longer be able to bear more children. It will kill her. I need you to keep this in mind.”Micah sighed, but the heavy burden from the news refused to let go of him.“I knew this could happen, but I am very grateful to you, my friend. I am happy both of them are alive.” “I am glad you have taken this in good faith. Make sure you heed my words, and call me if there is any need.” Quin patted Micah on his shoulder before he turned and left. He met two soldiers dressed in their full uniforms waiting for him right in front of

The next morning, Quin was set to head out, but an early visitor was knocking on his door. He had wanted to ignore since it was too early, but the knock persisted, and it was very difficult for him to ignore. Eager to find out who it was, Quin walked to the door and grabbed the handle slowly. But he had to make sure that there was only one person at the door by checking through the peephole. "Doctor Col? What are you doing here so early?” He asked as soon as he opened the door, but the Doctor was still trying to get a grip on himself after he had run for a long time.“Forgive me for barging in on you so early, Doctor Quin! But this is very urgent!” Col sighed heavily, and when that wasn’t still enough he took in a deep breath which he let out slowly.“Is everything okay? How is my uncle?” Quin could tell that something was wrong, but he was not prepared for the worst news.“You have to come with me right now! Your uncle is no longer breathing!”“What?! Let’s go!” Quin jumped out

Quin had to continue on foot since there was not enough space for his car to fit. The gate was wide open, but no one had ever been brave enough to go into the abode of the Dukes. Quin could see the castle that looked like an ancient temple. Everything but the paint was still intact, making it almost impossible to tell if the castle was the same as the leaves that were growing around it, or if it was never painted but allowed to stand tall in the middle of nowhere. Quin’s steps were calculated. He could never take any chances since it looked like there could be traps ahead of him. He wasn’t certain, but it seemed like he saw someone peeping at him from one of the windows up high on the castle. But he continued walking, determined to get what he wanted. Just a few meters away from the castle, he had a creaking sound that made him look. The wooden door was opened from the inside, and the dust that flew to the sky was evidence of how long the doors had been shut.A teenage boy came

Lord Farrell allowed the silence in the large room to linger for so long, but Quin didn’t have all the time in the world. “Lord Farrell?”“Don’t be in a hurry, Quin. I have a lot of things that I want you to do for me.” Lord Farrell sniggered at Quin, who didn’t have any other choice but to remain silent while he waited to hear what he was going to say.Quin’s eyes went to the wristwatch he was putting on, and he could see that he had spent more than an hour there without being able to achieve anything. If not that he was certain that Col was right about the two herbs being there, he would have concluded that the old man was trying to play games with him. “There are two things that I want you to do for me, and I shall give you the five herbs of vitality. I know about your uncle’s health, he was my friend, remember?” Quin sighed. He could have thought that Lord Farrell didn’t know the reason why he wanted the herbs, and it could have been better if it remained a secret.“What are t

Quin struggled with the urge to go after the old man because he knew that it could lead him to revealing a secret he promised to take to his grave, but his uncle’s life was at stake, and it was either he played along or lose his only family member. He was forced to take a step after them, and then the second, the third, before he started marching faster to catch up with them.Lord Farrell walked very fast until his energy could no longer carry him, and he was forced to slow down, causing his guards to catch up with him.Quin kept a little distance of caution, observing as they walked through a hidden tunnel that led them into a secret room. The old man opened the door to the room with a large key hanging on his neck, and then he went in with just Quin while the guards stood at the door waiting.“I am sure you can identify the herbs when you see them.” Lord Farrell gestured to Quin who began to look around the secret room while he kept his eyes wide open. There were herbs of different
