CHAPTER 21
“I know everything young master.” The Butler stopped beside a Mercedes. He opened it, gesturing to Nicholas to enter. “Who are you?” Nicholas asked.“I am Belling De Nor, but everyone calls me The butler. I have been expecting you since Nora informed me of your existence. I am the only one in the whole Belford family who everyone can trust. I serve everyone. But I am most loyal to the patriarch because he and I are old friends. I hope you can keep this little secret for me.”“Of course I will.” Nicholas answered instantly. He tried to stay composed even after making such a hasty reply. His act of mystery was flopping and he knew it. The butler shut the door when Nicholas had boarded then he took the wheels, driving into the lane heading east.“You know, young master, you don’t need to wear an air of mystery around me. I know you better than anyone in the world. You don’t need to put up a façade in my presence.”“Em… I learned this façade is good for personal preservation.”The butler
CHAPTER 22
The streets were getting dry, midnight was coming. Shops were closing up and cops were hurdling drunks off the roadsides and into their patrol cars. Under the neon lights of an old diner, Alex sat with a bottle of vodka in hand, staring into emptiness still wearing his suit from yesterday morning.By some hand of the devil, he lost his job, his house and his car. He was robbed of his cellphone and his little sister shut him out, reminding him of how helpful he was to the family and how she intended to offer him the exact same treatment. He had been wandering the streets since then and somehow he found enough change in his pocket to buy this bottle. Finishing it was pretty much his only actual plan right now.He sighed, standing with a stagger and slowly making his way into the night. This road led to Government Arch estates. Where his ex-wife lived squatting with a few friends who gardened in the estate. If there was one person that would at least give him a place to sleep, it was her.
CHAPTER 23
The phone on the bed next to him kept buzzing. Whomever was calling, didn’t stop. At the twentieth ring, Nicholas knew if he didn’t pick up, he wouldn’t get to sleep for the rest of his life maybe. He heaved, half opening his eyes. He swiped the button on the screen and the call connected.“Nicholas. Hello. Oh thank goodness I finally got to you. Are you okay now? No, wait, where are you? I will come right there this instant. Just tell me where you are, okay? Nicky, please talk to me.”“Natalie?” he grumbled, pulling the phone closer. “Why are you asking so many questions? Why are you calling so many times?”“Oh!” she gasped. “Oh my God, are you sure you are alright, Nicky? You called me, remember? This morning. You were outside your house. I knew because there was so much honking in the background. You told me you did something you had to but it’s hurting you so bad. But you never got back to me again after that.”Nicholas quirked a brow. God his head weighed like a log. Nothing she s

CHAPTER 24ROCKPORT9AMThe plane landed at San Anton airport. Nicholas got off with Nora. A hummer jeep was parked outside that airport, the ex-con driver leaning against it and playing with his phone while he waited for them. They came to him less than thirty minutes after they got down from the plane. He had them on the road, in seconds. Nicholas had his muscular arms folded around his chest while he stared out the window but he couldn’t see the passing cars or the flashing lights. He was lost in reverie.Nora noticed. Before she could remark, he looked at her all of a sudden and he mouthed. “We need to stop at a police station. I have a friend that needs visiting.”“Someone you know, Sir, is he locked up?” Nora calmly asked.“Quite the opposite. My friend is a cop or a Jailor, better put. I’ve been thinking, which force has the greatest power and biggest guns in this world.”“The Mafia.” Nora answered without realizing that his question was rhetorical.“There was no need for that
CHAPTER 25
CHAPTER 25The Jeep drove into the library complex, picking a nice spot concealed from every camera. Nora and Nicholas stepped calmly and casually went over and opened the booth. They met with the face of a freaked out cop, drenched in sweat and staring at them like they were monsters. Nicholas extended his hand to the cop.“You are probably going to need help getting out of there.” He said concern in his voice. It wasn’t just creepy, it was just wrong. The cop slapped his hand off.Nicholas squeezed his lips a little, he looked like he was feeling bad that the cop was giving up a lifetime opportunity. Nicholas stepped away from the car, turning his back on them. Nora pulled out her revolver.“It shouldn’t be like this. Honestly. We have no problem with you. We just want to talk but if you keep treating us like we are not friends, that will be hard.” Nora explained quietly. She tucked her gun back into her pocket, letting her coat cover it.“Now can we go upstairs. There is much to dis
CHAPTER 26
“Do you think he will accept that offer, young master?” Nora asked, breaking into the silence they had been lingering in the jeep since they left the library.“Mhmm, Jean is a wise man. He won’t turn it down. Anyways the universe is behind me, I have no fear.”“The universe?” Nora almost let out a mocking laugh. “I didn’t picture you to be a believer of the supernatural, young master.” She rubbed the side of her nose, trying not to shake off the urgency to make the way she felt obvious.“I came back from the dead Nora, there is no way I’m going to abandon all the stuff about it. Anyways I’m just saying that I have no intention to make that tower as messed up and illegal as it is now. The universe knows I’m a good guy, it will work in my favor.”A half smile tugged on Nora’s lips . She definitely looked like she was finding everything he said ridiculous.“What do we do now, Young Master?”“We wait. Our plan cannot proceed without his help, so what we have to do now is wait, patiently.”
CHAPTER 27
In Rockport, Nicholas was sipping herbal tea and sitting in front of a blank television, staring at it and then the clock. It was 11pm now and still Jean had not called. He tried to take controlled breaths, hoping it could quiet the anger boiling inside him. Nora watched him from the corner of the room. She could tell from the way he so stiffly picked up his cup and drank his tea, that he was fighting something.“Nora, tell me what is the most terrifying thing you can do to a man. The kind that will keep him obedient for the rest of his life?”“Hang him upside down and threaten to hack off his dick.”Nora frowned, turning her eyes towards the sofa facing the giant glass windows overlooking the city. Morrison was there, answering her question for her.“That’s an intelligent answer Morrison. I will do that. I would really like to do…”His phone began to ring. Nicholas unenthusiastically glanced at the screen. He grinned.“I guess we will have to keep our little plan for another day.”H
CHAPTER 28
MID AFTERNOON,KULACROSS TOWER“Someone blew up my shipment and you came back here to tell me!!” The man behind the office desk decorated with Arabian colors sprung from his seat. He grabbed anything he could and flung it at the big hefty guy standing in front of him .“You moron. You imbecile, you chalk-brained fool. You should be chasing after him. Hunting him down. Why are you here when you don't have that man’s head on a platter!!!!” He roared. The big guy cringed in fear, unable to raise his head and look at his boss. The boss, on the other hand, was holding a golf club in the air, his hands vibrating with the intense desire to break it on the guy's head but he knew killing him would not help his situation.“Oh fuck!!!”he flung the gold club aside, transferring aggression to the table. He kicked it over and over and over again, in rage, raining curses in every language he knew. Then after what seemed like forever, he began to calm down a little. The man stepped back and darted

DAY BREAKAN ABANDONED SHOPPING MALL SOMEWHERE IN ROCKPORTNicholas opened his eyes faintly. He was trying to breathe but it couldn’t, not through his nose. He groaned with each breath he took through his mouth. He couldn’t see anything except darkness. He didn’t remember anything either. He couldn’t feel the ground, his body was swinging. He was probably suspended in the air with his feet. No wonder a terrible strain was creeping into his legs slowly. He shut his eyes, trying painfully to recall what happened. Alright he could picture flashes of memory. He was at the penthouse. Despero came to him. Everything went black after that. Then he remembered waking up in an enclosed space, like a box. He partially remembered being hung up here but what did they do to him afterwards.Immediately he shuffled through that thought, the lights in the room came on.“Ahhh!!” he screamed. They burned his eyes. He groaned. Oh God they hurt so bad. He kept his eyes closed, biting back the pain. He hea

Nicholas looked at him and smiled. Before Despero could make sense out of that look Nicholas forced him back and drove a dagger into his stomach.Despero’s eyes widened.Nicholas drove out of the knife and drove it back in. A struggle sparked in the car. Despero tried to get away, defending himself from Nicholas with his hands. Nicholas thrust the dagger at him, cutting anywhere and everywhere he could. Blood spattered everywhere in the backseat. Nicholas drenched in blood. The stupid driver did not realize what was going on until Nicholas put that knife on his throat. The idiot froze up immediately, Nicholas helped him take off the ear pods..He whispered to him. “at the count of three, park the car, jump out and run.’The driver nodd
