"Else, you're fucking going to die." They spoke in unison, aiming their weapons at her. "Calm down boys." She chuckled, arms held in the air as though she surrendered. "I have your money, Gold." She added and slowly put her hand in her pocket, bringing out a pouch of gold. She held it out for them slowly. One nodded, signifying to the other to take it and he did. "Pure gold." The second brother spoke, dipping his fingers through the pouch. "We're square?" She asked, her hands still in the air. "Maybe. Who's the hot shot?" The first brother asked, pointing at David who kept his gaze on Gandu who was making to escape. "A companion." She replied, turning towards them. "I see tensions are cool. If you don't mind, I'll be on my way." Gandu spoke. "Not so fast." Colleen said, pulling him back to his seat. "Okay, what is it you people want?" He asked. "A mage. Necromancer, Undead army of bandits? Ring any bells?" David questioned. "Information like that costs a lot." G
WHY?
"I'm going to change the world." Bill announced. "How? It doesn't make sense." Sarah asked, still confused. He chuckled, settling on David's bed. "You see, Virtual reality could be the next step to reality. The game practically enhances virtual reality synchronization with our reality. In a sense, humans get to live the lifestyles they want. Eat the food they want, have the adventures they want and still have the biological and financial values from the technology." He explained. He looked at Sarah who still looked confused. "Okay, you look at the value of money in real life, it works in a digital sense too. That's how it works. In-game value equates real life value. People don't have to fight wars, feel sick, work their asses off and die once this technology is applied to them and David is the first successful case although he's immersed in the game world." He added. "So, you're saying people have consciousnesses in the game, with vege bodies?" She questioned, now gettin

"So, we failed." Colleen said after listening to David's explanation. He nodded, slapping his arm on his forehead. "My journey still continues." He said. Dana peeked at him, wondering if he was truly crazy. She knew she had been destined to meet Player one but this player was just suicidal. However, she held her thoughts to herself waiting for the rest's decisions. "Eden. Pyxis did kick out asses." Eder spoke. "Indeed, he did." Eden agreed. "I'll be damned to accept defeat." He added, his brother nodded in agreement. "Aregon saved us, but he ate Pyxis's heart after telling us he's coming for us. I say we take the fight to him." Eder said. Colleen sighed. "I'm beginning to believe boys are genuinely stupid." She said. "Maybe stupid, but I'll proceed on this mission. We survived Pyxis, we'll survive Aregon." Dana added. David smiled, he only felt glad for having this much support. "Okay. So we move on. We defeat Aregon and we all go our respective ways. Eder

"Well, need me a bottle of ale to fix this." He declared, sitting before the bar. He poured the drink into a mug and gulped it down. He looked out through the window and saw something shining at the spot the Witch had died. He got closer and saw before him a treasure chest. Elated, he quickly broke it open and met three abilities. "Health", which he quickly absorbed. The second was "Flight." An ability he had noticed in the Witch. He chose it and it added to a feature in his armour. The third ability, a mystery pick was something he felt skeptical about. However, he picked it too, not knowing what it could be and how it could help. He went back to the tavern and realised people were beginning to regain consciousness. He first pulled Gandu up, sitting him upright on his seat. "How do I find Aregon?" He asked slowly shaking the man by his sleeves. "You will find him. Just do." Gandu responded slowly, his eyes still half shut. "Great." David muttered, freeing Gandu's sleeves
Victory at all costs.
It felt like a slow motion action sequence. Aregon grabbing David's neck, then plunging his other fist in his chest, gripping and ripping his heart out. Meanwhile, David at that moment frantically thought of what to do. Just before his heart got ripped, he mentally selected the mystery ability on his interface. It was his last chance, and he hoped it worked. Like a video tape, it felt like time rewound to the exact point when Eden plunged his Sabre into Aregon's back. "Mystery ability — time travel." The interface beeped. He felt more vigour and energy now realising he knew what was happening next. "Stop." He told Dana who was proceeding to attack. "What?" She asked him. In that instant, Aregon commanded a black wave, wrapping around his friends and choking then, then scattered them around with a throw. "Fuck." David muttered, sprinting forth. His knife's blade facing Aregon. In a split second, he felt the knife twist and turn, then struck his chest. He gasped, he was go

The sky rumbled with constant lightning. The atmosphere was unimaginably cold as soft drizzles of rain fell on the earth. Life seemed devoid on this land, but for a trench, one that a cave laid at its base. Inside the cave, a deep growl was uttered. Once, twice and thrice it sounded. A monster from a horror story. Around the cave laid bones, burnt to crisps. They were scattered around the base of the trench like confetti, a gothic design for the life of the cave's inhabitant. Before this trench stood a forest, one that served as the barrier between a Kingdom and the trench. This Kingdom, like the magical Kingdom in every fantasy, was a huge settlement fenced and protected by walls so high, only the tip of the Monarch's castle could be seen from a reasonable distance. However, on the edge of this Kingdom were towers mounted at four different points of the walls. Watch towers manned by guards who served as watches against impending danger or doom. This seemed like a perfect kingdom, e

"Fuck." Colleen groaned. The beast charged closer and she jumped away, evading it. She threw a knife at it. The weapon only bouncing off it's body. David got up, seeing the frantic exchange between her and the Bison. He knew what the problem was, the beast was aggressing on behalf of its owner. He quickly untied the lady who was slowly regaining consciousness. "Calm down. She's alright." He yelled at the beast. Regardless, it charged again, horns in his now conscious friends' direction. He wasn't going to let them kill it. The lady behind him rose, knocking a kick to the back of his head, causing him to fall immediately. She whistled and the Bison calmed, easing tensions rising. They all turned and faced her, she had pressed a knife to the back of his neck, standing above him. "Who are you people and what is your problem?" She asked. "We should be asking you." Dana questioned, drawing her Katana. She pressed deeper against his skin and he groaned. "We mean no harm,

"The Queen. She's gone." The Knight uttered in shock. They all wondered how it happened. All the knights surrounding her had died except for him who was at the base of her throne. The attack had happened so fast, coupled with the trauma he had just experienced that he didn't see anything happen. "We're in a fucking tough situation here." David said angrily. The Knight had gotten up, an attempt to make a public announcement when Dana grabbed his arm, pulling him back. "Don't." She uttered. "Are you insane? The Queen has just been kidnapped, the royal guard are dead. I have to rally warriors to go after her." He yelled. "Easy Tiger. We'll do just that. However, we handle this with discretion." Colleen said, placing a soothing palm on his shoulder. "You mean for me to trust our Queen's safety to mercenaries like you. Your type have come and failed. What should make us trust you?" He questioned. "For starters, we just killed the bloody fucks that had you shitting your pants, and lo

ESMERALDA, 8 YEARS AGO.Queen Esmeralda III was in her throne room, a look of concern on her face. She had received some information that seemed to add a new change to her life the previous night. That information kept her in thoughts, her heart sodden and heavy. As she waited, her personal Knight approached her in the throne room, genuflecting before her. "Your majesty." He greeted, his eyes glued to the ground. She waved her right hand upwards. "Arise. What was the Mage's response?" She spoke. He did as instructed and immediately responded. "She says she shall be on her way soon. She has a few activities to engage." She sighed, her head heaving up and down a nod."Alright. Do you know why I seek her, Erasmus?" She asked. "No, your majesty." He shook his head. "My daughter — Historia. The premonition reveals she is not the next Queen." She stated. His eyes widened in shock. "Good grief. Did the Mage tell you that?" He asked in a concerned tone. "No. I had the premonition, a d

Historia returned to her tent, sitting glumly inside. She could not remember what had happened earlier and only felt a little bit of guilt eating at her. "Guilt for what?" She asked no one in particular, then laid on her mattress. "Historia." Her mother called, staying outside the tent. "May I come in?" She requested. She instantly sat up."Yes mother." She responded and the Queen entered the tent. You have been inside since? Well, I was about to retire to my bed when I decided to check on you girls. I checked on Meralda first since her tent is close to mine, however I can't find her. Have you seen her?" She asked. "No." She replied hurriedly, her head facing the bed. "Alright, sweetheart." She spoke, kissing her daughter on the forehead. "Goodnight." She said, leaving the tent. Historia shut her eyes instantly, falling back into her bed. Something was wrong and she couldn't tell what it was. ..It had been a week since Meralda had gone missing and the Royal Guard had franti
