				CHAPTER ELEVEN

Vira paced back and forth in her room. She had been following the news about her ex-husband's rise to wealth and still could not believe it. Now she was reconsidering her decision. She had married Elias because of his wealth and popularity. Even though he still possessed those, she envied Jace. Did she actually love her husband? She shook her head quickly. There had been no love since the first day. Their relationship outside of the home was only a ruse; that was what the public wanted to see. Her marriage to her husband had been the dream of many women. They had deceived the public by their showy display of love when in reality, they were lacking in that aspect. It was only recently that Vira had realized she had truly loved her ex-husband even without his riches. But now, would he accept her back? He was now higher than her husband and she hated to see this, she needed someone that would put her in a higher position and there was no one else except her ex-husband. She sighed.

Vira looked shocked. Had she really heard him speak to her in that way? Where was the smile she had been expecting?“Jace, I-I am sorry for the way I treated you. It pained me to leave you then, but I had to do it.” she told him.Jace sighed. He was tired of hearing her make vague references to the past.“So what are you trying to insinuate?” he asked her.“Let's get back together, I promise it will be worth it.” She pleaded.Jace let out a chuckle, “Last I checked, you are married and you seemed so lovey-dovey with your husband.”Vira rolled her eyes and tucked her hair behind her ears. She could not believe her ex had also believed she was living a lovely life. Anyways, she could not blame him, after all, it was the same affection she and her husband had been showcasing to the public.“Um, actually-” she began before being interrupted by Serex's entrance.Jace averted his gaze from her to his assistant. The man bowed, “You have a meeting in a few minutes, sir.”Jace nodded slowly an

“How dare you?!” Vira shouted as she entered the room. Her husband was sitting on the bed scrolling through his phone. He was too focused to notice his wife's entrance.“Elias!” she yelled and collected the phone.Elias looked up and sighed. “What is the matter again?” he asked her.“Again? Didn't you tell me you will quit whatever relationship you had with those women?” she questioned.Elias shot her a look, “why are you bringing it up?”Suddenly, Vira brought out some photographs and fling them at him. He was able to catch one and took a glance at it, then he scoffed.“Have you been going around snooping in my business?” he asked her.“And what if I have?” she asked back, “didn't you promise to love only me? Why this?”Elias let out a chuckle, “You and I know you married me for my money and nothing else.”“How can you say that?”“Do not try to play dumb, or explain to me why you left your ex-husband, whom you loved, to marry me.” he said with a raised voice, “Do you think I know n

The grab on his leg was strong as it yanked his pants and pulled him into the room. Jace looked down and was surprised to see a young girl tugging at him with tears in her eyes. She appeared to be terrified and traumatized by what was happening.Jace gently carried her in his arms and turned to leave, but the door caught fire and blocked their exit.Jace looked around, but there was no way out, and the fire was slowly approaching them.25%...He let out a deep breath. He knew he needed to get out before his health deteriorated to zero. Again, he looked around for a way out but it all came to nothing, not until he decided to do something dangerous. He clutched the girl tightly in his arms, keeping her close to his chest.“Close your eyes.” he told the little girl. When he had done that, he decided to approach the door. It was on fire, but they needed to get out. He used his feet to forcefully kick the door away before attempting to escape by crossing the burning path. The flames were

The following day, the media had published lots of articles pertaining to the drastic accident that had occured. The front page had been flooded with a topic that seemed to swirl the minds of readers. It was reported that a strange man rescued a young girl from the flames.Though his identity was unknown, some speculated that he was not an ordinary man.Vira sat at a popular restaurant, flipping through the pages of an article paper. The topic had caught her interest and she had to get a copy for herself. She was completely engrossed in what she was reading while sipping a cup of hot chocolate. Lately, she had been hearing strange happenings in Velmora and wanted nothing more than to keep alert. As she stared at the picture of the man approaching the burning building, she noticed something. It was strange, but she felt as though she knew him. His stature and height appeared to be familiar. As she flipped the page, her gaze was drawn to his face, which, despite being obscured by the

It was another day in Jace's life. He awoke on time because he had barely slept all night. The incident had left him in a state of instability. He had been thinking about who was behind that, but no one came to mind. After getting dressed, he checked his wristwatch. 9:00 am. Serex was yet to arrive.“He had never been this late before.” he muttered to himself as he sat on the couch situated in his room. The hotel was the most expensive in the city, and one that was up to his taste of luxury. He recalled hiding himself as he entered the place last night and let out a slight smile. The entire place was crowded, and he could not enter without being noticed by them. He suddenly remembered the cap he had worn earlier and went to get it, hoping no one would recognize it from the viral photos. Fortunately for him, it went unnoticed. They had ignored him as if he were a stranger. He checked his watch again; ten minutes had passed, and there was still no sign of his assistant. Without thinki

Jace was walking down the stairs as he glanced at his wrist watch at every time interval.“Why the hell have I not seen Serex today?” he muttered under his breath as he hurried down.He had refused to take the stairs in hope to exercise his legs. Due to the fact that he had lodged in a hotel last night and Serex’s delay he was unable to hit the gym. Fortunately for him, his health had deteriorated by only 35%.“He has not even read or responded to my messages.” Jace added as he scrolled through the countless messages he sent to his assistant.[Hi Serex, I could not sleep at my house, so I checked into the King's Hotel. You can come pick me up.][Hi, why aren't you at work? Is everything alright?... ] Jace sighed. He was certain that something had gone wrong. Serex was not the kind of guy who could ghost him.“I need to find out where he is.” he said and took out his phone from his pockets. His assistant might be in danger, waiting for his help.As he dialed the numbers, something cau

“It has been the best day of my life!” Elias spoke as he slumped down on his couch. “The news has spread quickly, and it will only be a matter of time before your name appears first on the chart.” Vira said, smiling, as she emerged from the kitchen. “What were you doing dear?”  “Preparing something for you. This calls for celebration, honey.” she told him as she sat beside him. “Oh, how nice of you, but I just took something before returning home.” Elias said as he cuddled her on the couch. Vira slowly eased out of his cuddle and looked at him. She suddenly moved closer to him and sniffed his clothing. She then slowly pulled his shirt collar down, while her husband rolled his eyes in frustration. “Again?” “What do you mean by again?” Elias questioned

It has been weeks already. What is the current condition?” Lazik inquired as he sat in his chair, his legs raised on the desk before him.“We have been able to remake the old model into something better. His strengths exceeds the past one and his abilities are unmatched.” Veyra explained.“Excellent!” Lazik exclaimed as he clapped, “that was exactly what I was hoping to hear.”Veyra smiled and bowed. “When would you like to attack him?” she asked him.“Soon.” Lazik said as he massaged his jaw, “I have other plans.”“If you say so.” she smiled then added, “I heard the new Top Billionaire would be replaced on the chart. There are sayings that this new man is ascending from being a millionaire to becoming a billionaire.”Lazik glanced at her.She continued, “Seeing this newest triumph, don't you want to do anything about it. I am well aware of your determination to be at the top.”Lazik scoffed. Veyra knows him well enough to discern his next move.“Not this time, Veyra. My plans have t
