Chapter 101
Immediately after Neal's lectures for the day ended, he left for the bar that the owner of the Soiree had chosen. While in the middle of a lecture he'd received a text that contained the address of the bar and the time in the evening when they were to meet. Now, as Neal sat by the see-through glass wall of the bar in a seat just beside the doorway, he wondered if the man had made a mistake when he typed the time he sent him.He shook his head as he checked his watch again. He'd been waiting for over fifteen minutes! Yet, there were no calls from him apologizing for the delay nor was there a text.Perhaps he'd forgotten that they were supposed to meet.Neal was about to put a call through to him when he saw a car drive into the parking lot.He hoped it was the man he was meeting with. The man who stepped out of the car dressed just like a CEO would. A well-tailored suit and a handy bag where Neal presumed he had the documents of the company on sale. The man was now walking toward the

By the time Neal rolled out of bed, the sun had risen and its soft orange glow filtered in through the curtains.Neal had an afternoon lecture so he took his time with his bath. After his bath, he shrugged on a loose t-shirt and a slack and strolled to the dining room for breakfast.“Good morning, sir," The butler greeted.Neal nodded back his greeting. “Good morning." After the butler finished dishing his meal for him, Neal looked up at him and asked, “Where's Amber?" “She already left for work, sir," the butler answered.Neal shook his head. He had woken up late. He already suspected that she'd have left. If there was something he had noticed about Amber, it was that she never joked with her early mornings.“Thank you,” he said to the butler as he left the room. Then, he began to eat his breakfast.Amber hadn't been able to meet up for dinner the previous night. Neal had hoped he'd catch up with her during breakfast as he needed to speak with her.He decided that he'd just go meet

Amber's brows furrowed slightly. She felt worry gnaw at her. What did Neal have to talk to her about that he had to come all the way down to the company? She wondered what could be wrong.“Is everything alright?” She leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table. “If I knew I'd have waited till you woke up." "No, it's okay,” Neal assured her. Then, he narrated his meeting with Jude, the CEO of the Soiree, the previous night.“Well. That was unprofessional of him,” Amber commented. “And how can he have the nerve to refuse to give a discount? The company's glory days are over. The future of that company is too unpredictable to invest such a huge amount into it.”Neal agreed with a nod. "Any sensible person would agree to this. I'm sure those high bidders would have a similar discussion when they find out that the company didn't only cease operation but it's bankrupt.”Amber nodded. “Of course, any sensible businessman would know that. Apart from the fee for the purchase, there'll sti

No freaking way! Was Amber trying to humor him? Miles looked from Amber's face to her outstretched arms to Neal's face, then he burst into laughter. He held his stomach as he doubled over.“Are you-" he tried to speak between the laughter racking his body but he was unable to form any coherent sentence. For long seconds, he couldn't bring himself to speak without bursting into another fit of laughter. Finally, he stood upright, his laughter coming out in broken chuckles as he tried to sober up. He looked at Amber. “If you are playing with me, Ms. Amber, then you should just tell me. This joke is too hilarious.”Amber's forehead scrunched up into a frown. What kind of mannerless person was this man? She thought. She dropped her arms and gave him a firm look.“If you have nothing else to say, then kindly step off these premises.” She raised her brows when Miles made no move to leave. “It's either you do that or I call the security to throw you out.”Miles swallowed, the humor wiped from

Moise had a smile as he drove into the parking lot of the Waterfall Corporation. He glanced at the cars carefully parked in the parking lot. His gaze followed them until the last car, where there was spare space. He drove there. He was parking his car when his gaze fell on a familiar figure walking away from the company's entrance. His smile instantly fell. His mood suddenly turned sour. He recognized the familiar figure. The figure of the man who had managed to taunt his life and turn his own people away from him.He watched as Neal walked farther away from the company's building and strode toward the road. No doubt about boarding a taxi. That was how low Amber had stooped; to cohort with a nobody who doesn't even own a car. Moise didn't need to be told, Neal had just walked out of the company. Which raises the question: What exactly was Neal still doing there? Moise reclined in his seat, slightly confused. Definitely something was wrong, he thought as he sat up and looked from the

Yvonne was all smiles when she answered the knock on her door. Her secretary stepped in with a smile. She walked over to her table and handed her the bouquet.Yvonne failed to conceal her excitement as she gently collected the flower from her secretary. She closed her eyes and sniffed in the petals as her heart further melted for Neal. They smelled even better because of where they were from.Just as she hugged the bouquet to her chest, the intercom buzzed again. She briefly met her secretary's gaze as they silently wondered who it could be. She walked to the intercom and answered the call.“There's another delivery, ma'am.” It was the receptionist again.Yvonne's eyes widened. "More flowers?" “Yes, ma'am.”“Alright. My secretary will come fetch them now,” She said. She turned to her secretary with a nod. Once the secretary was out, Yvonne swirled around before pressing her lips to the flower. She had no idea that Neal could be so romantic. That aching knowledge that he had a wif

Once Yvonne left the room, Miles hurried down to the reception area where he asked for his bill and made a quick transfer. He ignored the surprised and curious looks on the faces of the attendants and hurried outside to his car. Miles drove straight to the Waterfall Corporation, almost breaking the speed limit. He roughly parked and rushed inside the building. He stopped before the receptionists. “I need to see Ms. Amber," he said. Since Miles had already been there earlier, one of the receptionists put a call through to Amber's secretary without question.Miles listened impatiently as the receptionist spoke over the phone. He raised his brows as she took her time to replace the phone. “Can I go up now?" She shook her head. "You'll have to be patient,” she said. “Her secretary will get back to us in a bit. You can wait in the waiting-”“I'll wait here,” Miles cut her off rudely. He wasn't about to sit in the waiting room for another twenty minutes. With Miles' elbow resting on the

After the call with Amber ended, Neal brows drew together as he looked down at his phone. It was interesting how Miles had hasten up to get Yvonne's forgiveness. He must be so desperate. Though be wondered how he was able to get her forgiveness in such a short time. But then, there wasn't really much to wonder about. Though he hadn't spent a lot of time with Yvonne, he'd spent enough time to know that she was soft hearted. He knew her enough to be able to tell that she wasn't the type to hold a grudge. Then he wondered why she hadn't called him to inform him of Miles’ apology. If Miles had truly apologised to her, then he must have reached out to her and spoke to her. I mean, seeing as Miles had threatened them the last time they met, she ought to call to say that he's apologized, right? He had also told her to reach out to him if Miles ever reached out to her again. He lazily scrolled through his contact list as he pondered on whether or not to call her. He shook his head as he

Jude assistant quickly typed to Neal, asking him what time he'd be free. Neal’s response came back almost immediately. ‘Tonight. Same location as before.’Jude's assistant looked up at his boss. “He said he'll be free tonight sir. He said he'll meet with you at the same location you met before." Jude nodded grimly. “Alright, you can get out now,” Jude dismissed with a slight wave of his hand. His assistant nodded and scurried out.Amber had taken Neal’s passing instruction not to stay out late quite seriously. She arrived so early that she was even home before dinner was ready. As Neal and Amber enjoyed a light snack in the late evening, Amber chatted with Neal, giving him a detailed picture of her whole interaction with Miles.Amber shook her head as she sobered up after she laughed at Miles' anger. “That Smith guy has one hell of a temper. He was pissed and he could barely keep it in. He tried to but it was evident from how red his face had grown. I had to warn him to remember who

As Amber drove them back home, she engaged Neal, thinking up ideas on what he might use the company for.“Since the negative publicity was quite strong, you could just reinvent completely. Say something like B2B services; consulting, logistics, security and the likes. This way, the brand is less visible.”Amber's eyes suddenly widened as another idea came to her. She hit her palm on the steering wheel. She turned to briefly glance at Neal with a smile. “What about this? Real estate. With this one, you wouldn't need to worry about visibility at all. And the returns will be insane since we have enough liquid resources to start up.”Neal slowly nodded, processing the information. “That actually makes quite a lot of sense. It would yield so much income.”Amber smiled. “But you know, it's up to you whichever option you choose to go with. And if you need help with it, I'll always be just a call away." Neal nodded. He passed Amber a small smile. "Thank you, Amber. I appreciate your ideas a
