Grand Performance
'Painful!' '…So painful!' 'Why does it hurt so much?' 'Why is dying so painful? I thought that dying sets you free from the restrictions of the flesh. Heh, I guess I was wrong.' 'Who would have thought that the great demon king reverenced by the entire demon race and feared by the Holy nation will cower before death bathed in an endless stream of pain and agony. Heh, such is my fate… Argh! It hurts.' Huff, puff, huff, puff! Belmont floated in the endless void. He had never been so weak, so fragile, and so helpless before. Even his life before he elevated his status as the demon king and ruled over the entire demon race was seven times better than the state he currently found himself in. 'I guess the high and mighty is fated to such tragic ending. Well, at least I didn't fall without putting up a good fight. My final performance will forever remain in their memories. With such grand performance they will never be bored in their entire life if they are reborn. Heh, heh. That serv
Rebirth
A sphere of white light had appeared in the distant darkness. This light resembled a lone star in the night skies. Suddenly, the abyssal darkness surrounding Belmont didn't seem so terrifying anymore. He could see the core of the abyss. All he had to do was get closer to it and find out where he was. Belmont tried using both his hands and legs to propel himself forward as though he was swimming inorder to hasten the trip. The currents pulling his soul experienced no resistance, therefore his pace increased three folds, and Belmont found himself proceeding further at an immense speed. He moved almost like a blur. However, even while traveling at such an incredible speed, the distance between himself and the light sphere didn't dwindle. The light felt so close, yet insurmountable. This only meant that the light was not as close as he had assumed it to be. And that he hadn't gotten to the centre of the abyss yet. He was still in the outer layers of the abyss. Belmont tried to figur
The New World
Carl was four years old now. He was simply different from other kids… quite peculiar. At his age, he should be swimming in piles of toys, letting his imagination run rampant. But Carl had been seriously gathering information on his new world. He wanted to know if he had reincarnated to a distant future of his former life. If so, then what happened to the demons? Did the demons agree to the peace treaty he and Lucius Zephyr set in place or did they revolt against it after they disappeared? Were the demons wiped out of the surface of the earth after they lost all their powerhouses? The questions were just too much for him to handle. He was desperately curious, after all the demons were his people… used to be, since he was now a human child. How did it happen? How can he who was a demon have ended up as a human? The thought of it disgusted him. Carl wasn't like those demons who had deep hatred towards humanity and thought that humans were beneath them, no, that was why he was able to
Hero Generation
"Dad?" Carl exclaimed. "What? Did you say dad? Is your dad back? Where is he?" Carl's mother, Helen shouted from the kitchen. She had overheard the four years old call out for his dad. She hurried out of the kitchen, wiping her drenched hands over her apron. Her long brown hair fluttered to the wind that came through the open windows. Peering her emerald green eyes about, she looked around the living room. "Where?" A soft melodious voice escaped from her juicy red lips. "On Tv." Carl pointed towards the TV screen, which was broadcasting live. Carl's dad, Iron Knight, was addressing a crowd of civilians. "Woah! Isn't it awesome watching dad on TV, hon?" She asked. The warmth in her smile felt relaxing, Carl had never witnessed anything like this before. The bond between parents and their child was just too weird. He couldn't quite comprehend it, after all, he didn't know what his parents looked like back in his former life. He had never experienced that thing called parental love.
Symbols of Hope
A chorus of murmurs spread across the mob of press. Heroes were supposed to be a symbol of hope, that they were supposed to look up to. They were supposed to smile even in the face of danger. Heroes are meant to give people hope regardless of if it was false. And protect humanity from crisis and the invading alien abominations. Ichor didn't pretend that everything was alright. He told them to their faces that humanity had no chance in defeating the ever-adapting Xenosapians, and that made them despair. This was likely because many people saw Xenosapians as nightmares… hellish and inescapable walking nightmares. Especially for those few people who had witnessed their carnage firsthand and had survived it. Xenosapians were cruel, savage, bestial and dreadful. They instill fear to the hearts of people, going around butchering humans without remorse, mostly giggling strange noises while doing so. They were seen as the Symbol of Dread by people. "Did he just say there is no hope for
At Dinner
It was dinner time the next day, that the door bell finally went off. Carl and his father were seated at the dining table while his mother was busy moving the food from the kitchen to the dining table. "That must be him." Jason Reed, Carl's father said, as he stood up from his seat and left to answer the door bell. Carl just watched, a hint of curiosity piqued his eyes. "Wow, you actually made it." Jason said immediately he opened the door. "Well I couldn't miss it for the world. It's just as you said, 'it all depends on the moment we decide to take the first step', and that's exactly what I want to do. And besides, this kids need a symbol of inspiration. I want to become a better godfather… and grandfather." Steve said in a deep voice, a bit of emotion evident in his indifferent expression. He stepped aside, revealing a little girl beside him. She looked timid and shy, and was clinging on to the edges of his suit, tightly. The little girl had a nicely kempt blonde hair, blues e
Chapter 1 Even Demon Kings Get Bullied
12 years later! A boy was returning from school. He steps, hurried. He strode through the streets at a fast pace, as though he was being chased. The black-haired boy with dark brown eyes, donned a dark blue uniform with gold stripes running down its edges. He suddenly broke out into a sprint as if trying to shake off his pursuers. He was panting heavily and noisily, his chest heaving up and down at an incredible rate. The black-haired boy quickly took a sharp turn through an alley almost losing his balance. But he was used to this kind of situation, there was no way he was going to stumble over the cold floor. He ran through the alleyway, a shortcut…? Or probably a tactic to shake off his tail. Having almost gotten to the exit of the alley, he took a quick glance behind him. There were two boys chasing after him relentlessly. The boy had a surprised expression etched on his face. But it wasn't because he was bothered that the boys were catching up to him. The gap between t
Chapter 2 Villain Attack
Carl laid face down on the bare cold floor of the alley completely battered. He had bruises under his clothes and a few broken ribs. Peter and his gang had thoroughly roughed him up so much that he nearly passed out, he could barely stand on his feet. He just laid there on the floor feeling utterly beaten… hopeless even. The cold biting through his pale skin. He had tried to cry but only pained groans escaped his throat. He tried to turn but moaned instantly as the pain overwhelmed him, but he didn't stop moving his body, until he was able to face up. Carl's condition had changed for the worse ever since he reincarnated. He had read a lot of fictional novels from this world where people from other worlds who got reincarnated, were reborn, overpowered in another world. They receive all the perks that would aid them in surviving their new world. Some of them get to see a sexy and hot blonde goddess who showers them with divine gifts and equipment, and sends them off with a warm sm
Chapter 3 The Big Bad Wolves
Carl also blamed himself everyday for not being strong enough to protect the people around him. He blamed himself for being weak. For being human. The only way he could come up with a possible solution was if he restarts everything in a different world. There was another wave of people rushing towards his direction. Carl watched as they stumbled over the cold floor, picked themselves up and dashed away. Those that weren't quick to stand up were stepped on by those behind them. The sight was brutal but Carl didn't flinch. Carl was prepared to die today. And just then, he spotted them. The Villains. All three of them. They were heading towards him in the direction of the flowing crowd. Their steps unhurried, sending slight tremors to the earth as they stepped. Their figures were unveiled from the chilling embrace of darkness immediately they walked into the range of the artificial illuminations. They stood at a height of three meters tall, with sharp eyes of that of a feral beast, a s
Chapter 4 System Awakening
"You did well, boy. Are you alright?" Carl suddenly heard a deep voice speak to him. He gradually lifted his battered face, he was graced with the figure of a young man donning a red spandex fabric and a pair of black modified goggles. "Where are you hurt? Can you stand? What is your name?" Carl had never been so happy to see a person dressed in a spandex suit as he was right now. He felt elated. Indeed heroes were Symbols of Hope to people like him. "Yes. M–my name is Carl." Carl said politely. "Good. Carl, I want you to take the kid and run as far as you can. As you can already see, I am outnumbered. But I should be able to buy you enough time to escape. We've backups on their way so there's nothing to be afraid of, Carl." The Hero said confidently. "Okay." Carl struggled to his feet, he picked up the unconscious girl—she had passed out when Vilewolf wanted to eat her. He then resumed running, ignoring his injuries and the pains that washed over his entire body. A gap was gradua
